Getting a bit concerned that I'm more interested in this book then the forthcoming Codex: Blood Angels (I have 9k of these.) ...

Just filling in the missing words on the cover there.
"For years the elves have been riven by civil war...
It ends here. Prepare yourselves for cataclysm!"

This is going to be a good thing for both my Wood Elves and Dark Elves :) I might even build up the HE models from the Island of Blood box now!

Good thinking Geoff. Maybe that's going to be G.W.'s play: tempting elven players to start other elven armies. Hence the harmonisation of the rules and magic.
Yes... It all makes sense now! :P

@Daeron. I think it's working because I play both dark elves and woodies and my store is getting rid of there island of blood box for 60% off. So I'm starting to want to get the sissy high elves too.

I think something is wrong with me.

@Silentdan - Yep; I picked up the IoB box at half price - the High Elves are pretty touch to convert, but I'm sure it's possible. The griffin model is wonderful - definitely going to work on that as a pegasus.

In short, it says that Malekith will invade Ulthuan (with some assistance from within), Tyrion will draw the Sword of Khaine, and that all three Elven races will engage in a winner-take-all showdown in Ulthuan.

It also suggests that Malekith will become the next Phoenix King, and that Tyrion drawing the Widowmaker will turn many of the Asur to Malekith's cause (as well as shifting certain devout Druchii to Tyrion's side).

It does not say who will win, other than that someone will and that there is a third list in the book to reflect the survivors of those battles.

Successful self-diagnosis is successful.

I for one would rather buy High Elf models to ritually burn in a pyre than actually field in a game or take pride in. The dark side of these End Times is this slippery slope towards unification

Druchii>Asur>Asrai forever!!!*

*though I wouldn't mind fielding some Waywatchers and Trees :P

Well, it is not really unification.
Take together DE, HE and WE, and make two sides from halves of each.

Malekith, Bleakswords, Dreadspears, Darkshards
Teclis, spearmen, Caradryan's Phoenix guards, Silver Helms cavalry.
Alarielle (avatar of Isha), WE warriors, Sisters of Thorn, Durhu, Treeman Ancient, Treeman.

Vs.
Tyrion who has become Avatar of Khaine. HE army.
DE khainites.

What worries me is that if "the survivors" are the 9th Ed. Elf Army, then Dark Elves as we know them will be gone forever!

I'm not sure how GW are going to dig themselves out of the End Times plotline.

@T.D. - that is my fear exactly. Terrifies me! GW: "Welcome to 9th Edition where Witch Elves don't exist, and the army you've invested all your time and money in is this completely different grey thing you don't want to play anymore, and all your fluff is erased and..."

Don't get me wrong - there's lots to like and admire in the End Times so far, and I'm genuinely excited about some aspects. I'm just way more terrified than excited. I just hope they see commercial sense in respecting the fact we chose Dark Elves for a reason!

Many times GW promised that no models will become obsolete. It's really hard to wipe out entire units.
what might happen though is units with same abilities (a lot of elven core overlaps) will have access to three different style models.

Gah, Alith Anar 'looses' a shot that will decide the fate of elven kind... Gimme a break, that guy is such a glorified toad in the road.

My bet is he will see Mally fighting Tyrion... and shoot one or the other, selecting the ultimate winner.

By shooting Alarielle and letting the other two kill each other.

Kurnous dies in the Oak of Ages, Khaine and Asuryan kill each other and Isha is killed by her children.

Lileath wins, with the Moon God as the ascendant deity over the survivors. The gods of the Hunt, War, Rulership and Growth have no place in the aftermath of the End Times - only Luck, Fortune and Seers can save the elves now.

That's my bet, wouldn't be a true Druchii if I weren't willing the gamble it all on a long shot at the very end.
Twenty years in the making, this seems kind of incredible.

You missed Alith Anar in the top left hand corner!

Yeah, that was my sentiment.

...although I can handle it if he shoots Tyrion. Because, y'know, Dark Elf player.

I'm really not digging what this means for 9th.

I'm also assuming that Tyrion is going to be Empire-Jesus level of fighty!

Are these new models? Not very familiar with the HE range, but I don't recognize these.
