Pre-Heresy World Eaters

Post by Rangeltoft »

Hello.

Just a quick question regarding Pre-Heresy World Eaters..

Would it be ok/fluffy to use the rules for Black Templars to represent PH World Eaters? I know that the crusader shouldnt be there, but a "troop" choice LR is to good to pass.

So what do you think? could it work?

Hmm it could work though, avoid lightning claws (can Black Templars take them?) and Assault Cannons if u take Dreadnoughts because both of those weapons occured Post-Heresy.

When I did a pre-heresy Emperors Children list i just used the SM list but then again the World Eaters did have those beserker implants which would work with the Black Templars sprint at the enemy rule.

I say go for it, you may have to make some creative changes and remove some options from the list.

I agree. I thing the Black Templar list would represent them very well so long as you selected your choices carefully.

I would avoid the assault cannons (exept for maybe one or two LRC)..

hmm, I was under the impression that Lightning claws were very much in use duing the HH, considering that Horus had one aswell as a few other characters..

Would a unit of Sword Brethren with Combat shields be fluffy? or how about Assault marines with storm shields? (not the best choice, but damn they look cool).

Currently planing on staying away from the following units: Terminators(Not assault), Speeders and tanks (except for LR and LRC's).

also knowing that I will include atleast two LR's (or LRC's) would Assault Terminators be worth it?

Will post a list later on.

Ummmm actually i would avoid assault terminators not normal terminators as terminator armour ahd just came into the imperium at that time so the terminator sqauds would not be specialised for close combat!
Also if you use bikes it would be good if you converted the bikers using the ravenwing captains jet bike since the bikes during HH were jet bikes also land speeders would again be ok since the imperium used lots of anti-grav technology during the HH!

Came up with a list that I really like and on the positiv side reflects my current World Eater list to some degree.

here it is:

Army Size: 1749p

HQ:

Marshal*:
Weapons:Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield
Wargear:Terminator Honours,Adamantine Mantle
= 170p

Emperor's Champion**:
Vow: Accept any Challenge, no matter the odds
= 140p

Troops:

Crusader Squad (7+6)**:
Initiates:
Weapons:Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons
1 with Power Fist & Bolt Pistol
1 with Meltagun
Neophytes:
Weapons:Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons
Frag Grenades (all)
= 210p
Transport: Land Raider Crusader,Smoke Launchers = 268p

Crusader Squad (6+4):
Initiates:
Weapons:Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons
1 with Power Weapon & Bolt Pistol
1 with Flamer
Neophytes:
Weapons:Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons
Frag Grenades (all)
= 162p
(Rides in Land Raider)

Crusader Squad (5+4)*:
Initiates:
Weapons:Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons
1 with Power Weapon & Bolt Pistol
1 with Flamer
Neophytes:
Weapons:Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapons
Frag Grenades (all)
= 145p
Transport:Drop Pod = 30p

Crusader Squad (5):
Weapons:Bolters
1 with Missile Launcher
1 with Plasma Gun
= 96p
Transport:Drop Pod = 30p

Fast Attack:

Bike Squadron(5+1):
Weapons:Twin-linked Bolters & Bolt Pistol
3 with Twin-linked Bolters & Power Weapon
1 Attack Bike with Heavy Bolter & Twin-linked Bolter
= 240p

Heavy Support:

Land Raider:
Upgrades:Extra Armour,Smoke Launchers
= 258p

Model Count: 45
Tanks: 2 + 2 Drop Pods

So what do you think? is this fluffy enough for a Pre-Heresy World Eater army? the only change I can think of right now is replacing the bikers with another Cloes Combat Drop Pod squad and give my fire support suqad 5 Neophytes with bolters, but since my (chaos) world eater list includes bikers I'm not to sure on leaving them out + Black Templar bikers are sweet

Bell of Lost Souls has a decent home-brew set of lists for pre-heresy era armies. It's quite interesting, and the background is rather well thought out for the most part. It's a bit hard to track down though.

I like it except for the Crusader, I know that it fits tactics wise but it now makes your army Post-heresy and I'm a theme-freak who likes to stick to what I'm going for.

IMO remove the crusader.

hmm, I was under the impression that Lightning claws were very much in use duing the HH, considering that Horus had one aswell as a few other characters..

Horus had a Power Claw which I think is a different thing though I may be Incorrect on that point.

No, Horus had a lightning claw, as did a few other PRIMARCHS. If the twenty most powerful mortals in the Imperium couldn't get hold of a bit of fancy archeotech then who the hell could?

[EDIT]He originally had two, but they changed it for some reason later on.[/EDIT]

it is so he could look a bit for evil in the poster where sanguinius is lying dead at his feet and he is twiddling the feathers from his cape in the claw.

The easist way to track down the bell of souls list is to search warhammer 30k in google.

AFAIK Bell of Lost Souls recommends the Blood Angels Codex (which you can download from GW's site for free) for preheresy World Eaters
