i was just wondering, could we discuss the possibility of 1 handed repeater crossbows, like those used by the Manflayers? I just thik these are quite cool, especially for someone who happens to be wanting to make their character liek them.

Are we taking this all the way to D&D? The tiny pocket sized RXB?

Or are you wanting to fire a Brace of RXB as a stand and shoot reaction? (Would be bad ass for a character with their high Ballistic skill to nearly whipe out the front rank of a charging unit)

I guess the Repeater Crossbow Pistol would be one handed. Though the current rxb is most probably two handed.

Two handed from the looks of it (if you use thee sheild upgrade, it' presumed one or the other is slung behind his back.)

The current Repeater Crossbow is currently;

Repeater Crossbow : 100 gold.
Power 3. Speed 4. Range 3.

A reasonable pistol version would go (in my mind) something like this;

Repeater Crossbow Pistol: Stacks of gold.
Power 2. Speed 5. Range 2.

Maybe even Power and or Range 1. The materials and expertise to make an item strong enough to fire bolts (which would be closer to a dart) yet still small enough to conceal would be very hard to come by.

cheers, yeh thats what i expected. Oh well, its just it would have been cool if when you had ambidexterity you could use sword and repeater crossbow pistol.

The range and therefore accuracy and strength of a pistol would be less than its larger counterpart, yes, but giving the obvious benefit of being able to use it one hand.

What remains an issue is reloading, which requires two hands. Even when you gain time by not having to finagle with entering a new bolt into the 'chamber', you still need one hand to hold the weapon and another to pull the handle. So in that respect, it would handle exactly the same as a regular RXB.

The RXB can be fired from one hand, but not very accurately so. The pistol has no penalty here, and it should be more useful than using an RXB in one hand (or the thing would be virtually useless).

At first glance, the item's pros and cons vide a regular RXB would be:

Pros

• lighter;
• more easily concealable;
• designed for one-handed shots.

Cons

• shorter range;
• less powerful;
• still requires two hands to reload.

With that in mind, I'm not sure it should be more expensive than an RXB. All in all, the weapon is not that much of an improvement.

Plus they shoot more and you would get a Stand and shoot option in RPG most of the time.
