OOC:

Ground Rules:

1) Try to avoid playing characters with a heroism complex. When your characters begin play, they're worth approximately ten points in tabletop terms. This means that if you attempt to "slaughter scores of your hated Asur foes", they will turn your character into "scores of hated Druchii kibbles and bits". Don't worry, your characters will become more potent over time, but be aware of your place.

2) Your characters' fates will be decided by several factors. First and foremost, your characters' stat array, these are the only hard numbers I have to go on, and will therefore be given appropriate weight. Secondly, the quality and promptness of your posts. If you take the time to write well, your characters will generally perform well. Please bear in mind that your roleplaying of a character should reflect that character's intelligence. A Druchii with intelligence two is not Nicolo Machiavelli. I will not be strict on this, but characters who roleplay their characters accurately will likely be rewarded better at the end of each story arc.

3) Try and minimize clutter in the thread. If there's a question that you need to ask me, but which is not necessarily important to the rest of the group, feel free to PM me.

4) Metagaming will be punished according to the severity of the offense. No warnings on this account will be given, nor will I impose direct, or (necessarily) obvious consequences; if you notice the NPCs attacking you seem to have metagame knowledge of your characters' weaknesses, it's probably because you've applied metagame knowledge of theirs. With this rule above other, I will be as lenient as I can, since I know how difficult it is to avoid this.

That's it on rules for now. I don't mean for them to sound especially stern, but we can have a better game if everyone is on the same level. On to the Roleplaying

IC:

The journey to Clar Karond was long, cold, and uncomfortable, but relatively uneventful. Cananatra, Narayov, Katon, and Tamhas had decided to come because most of their foes were elsewhere, the promised pay was good, and they relished the stability which was available under the banner of a noble house. As their guide led them to the gates of House Tariq, those gates opened to reveal a small complex containing a small mansion, stables, and a blacksmith. Their guide, Tien, dismounted, and offered the reins of his horse to the waiting stable slave before bidding his party to do the same.

The slave, a human, was advancing in years, and though no one had ever bothered to ask when he was born, and given their strange life cycle, one would have to approximate his age to about fifty years. He carried himself with what, among cattle at least, might pass for dignity as he lead the horses to the stables before calling the newer slaves to attend to the more mundane details of stabling the steeds.

As the group looks around, they can see that most of the attendant Druchii, and some of the higher ranking slaves, bear the sigil of House Tariq on their navy blue cloaks. The silver sigil, comprised of a dagger with a half dozen crossbow bolts fanned out beneath it, swirls pleasingly as those bearing it go about their business.

The group is lead to the door of the mansion and lead inside, down a corridor and through the door to their right into a dining hall. Here, a wealthy looking elf sits at the head of the table, enjoying what looks to be a delicious meal. Four places have been set near him, though the place at his right hand is oddly empty.

The elf notes their entry and continues to eat for several minutes before he says "Come, sit, refresh yourselves. If there's any poison in the wine, it wasn't put there by me." As the group take their places at the table, servants come to remove the silver covers that sit over their food.

Normally, he would not treat such undistinguished guests so well, but he needed their loyalty if he was to realize his ambitions. He says "I am Stahl, fifth son of Lord Tariq. I assume Tien has not told you the reason for these summons. My father does not enjoy politics, despite the skill he displays in that arena. Three weeks ago, he released a dozen or so slaves into the wild, hoping to enjoy some sport as a distraction from the wearying machinations of Clar Karond's nobility. Confident in his abilities as a veteran of scores of hunts, he took only a handful of dark riders to accompany him in his pursuit of the slaves. Unfortunately, he has yet to return. I intend to retrieve him and be named heir in doing so. Unfortunately, as fifth son, my family's full resources are not available to me. I can pay you, surely, and I'm sure my father's gratitude will be great, but I'd much rather take the family's retainers than a bunch of sellswords. Alas, I'll have to make do with you lot."

OOC: That's all for the moment, now we wait for everyone to check in. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves or to ask Stahl questions as you see fit.

Here he collected decadent works of 'art' and filled his court with sycophants and courtiers who eroded the last vestiges of the elven spirit.

Thus our weakling kin studied poetry, dancing, gardening and other nonsense, and we watched gleefully how they ran down their armies and forgot the last of the noble military tradition of our past.

OOC: hi all, my first RP, so I hope I get this right.

IC:
Upon leaving the Druchii Army Katon paid a small fee to retain his equipment from service, under the pretences he was to take leave and live a simpler life, should the Dark Elves need to muster a force he can be called to arms by the Witch King.

Katon was glad to be starting out on the road to Vikarh, he had herd much about this place while serving in the army. Many of the men spoke of it being a Mercenary town a place where it didn’t matter how you got the job done as long as you did. The majority of people there were all sell swords all egger to sell they services for a price, and the rate of pay was good from what the more seasoned soldiers had let on.

At any rate this was his destination, leaving from Ghrond he met a merchant’s caravan travelling to Vikarh ‘Brilliant’ he thought to him self, an easy passage to Vikarh. Katon escorted the Caravan to Vikarh free of charge in exchange for food and bedding along the way.

Upon arriving in Vikarh Katon headed to the Taverns, this seemed like the most logical place to go and look for work as Vikarh’s Taverns housed most of the mercenaries between their jobs.
After milling around the town Katon entered a bar and spent some time spending the last of his coins and making small talk looking for work, after some time a man came and offered work out at Clar Karond, the promise of good pay was enough to sway Katon and the fact he was going to get his supplies for the ride brought for him was another bonus. Especially as the last of his coin had been spent on drink.

Katon met this ‘Tien’ outside the city and he was accompanied by a few others, not that it mattered to Katon he just wanted work, he did not care who they were for the moment.

The journey to Clar Karond was long, cold, and uncomfortable, but relatively uneventful. Katon spoke to the others briefly along the way, though not in much detail, he was quite happy gazing into the wilderness. Katon had seen more in his last few weeks of travelling than he ever had serving in the Army. ‘This could be a good gig, travelling and just getting by not such a bad life’ he thought to him self as he travelled with the group.

The group entered into Clar Karond and were led up to a Mansion, as they approached the gates opened to reveal a small complex containing a small mansion, stables, and a blacksmith. Tien jumped off his horse and handed his reins to one of the slaves, Katon just jumped off his horse and followed the guide, more interested in stretching his legs than anything else.

Following the guide a little through the mansion Katon entered a large dinning hall, a draped banner over a large open fire comprised of a dagger with a half dozen crossbow bolts fanned out beneath it such as the ‘help’ outside wore. ‘Obviously’ the family crest’ thought Katon.

The table is set for five; the seat to Stahl's right is unset.

IC:
Taking a seat nearest Stahl (not the one with no food, Katon is hungry) Katon looks around the rooms, no weapons on the walls, looks like the family is not of military bore power. ‘politicians’ Katon snarls to him self.

While eating the food Katon will question the son, asking in which direction his farther went off, how many Riders he took and how many Slaves he let lose? And most importantly the reward.

OOC: Sorry for the very long opening post, they will be shorter from now. Just wanted to open up and show how Katon has come to be in this place

OOC: i'm going for the standard thinking, speaking and doing As Kadon, it's my first RPG

IC: After arriving to Vikhar, Tamhas knew perfectly well where he could find a job. My pocket is too light, I have to find a job. Heading to the left of the main entrance, he quickly went to one of the dark corridors, toward "The Black Dragon's Saloon".

He tried to enter the place as smoothly as possible, but it seems that his entrance was noted. Everyone in the tavern was looking at him, coldly and bluntly. Great, so much for not drawing attention.. But it was not at him they were looking. It was an elf that happened to be at the door before him. After two or three seconds, the crowd continued with their activities, except for a couple of guys that went to talk to the stranger. Maybe he offered them a job.. Following as silently as he could, he overheard someone refer to a task for a noble house. Probably a well payed job, also it might be easy.. The elf was Tien, and after going toward another the elf at the bar, they started their trip.

He rode in silence, wondering what the mission might entail. Tien wasn't going to talk, he said that his patron was to tell us everything Maybe if we torture him... nah, probably wont be a good idea, we would have to pay for him later.. While Katon spoke, he looked at his surroundings. Clar Karond, my first time here. I had better not make any mistakes with this guy, to be safe. Won't be a good idea to be alone in this unknown land.

They arrive at the manor. He got off his horse, and as Tien showed, lent the reins to the slave.

After the introduction by the noble, Tamhas sat in front of him. He looked at the wine, examined the it's colour, smelled it, and then tasted it. poison free, the way i like it. He stared at Stahl for a few seconds and then looked around the room.

Tamhas will listen to the conversation, eat the food and ask about the whereabouts of Stahls siblings

Stepping into the mansion was a welcome respite from the bitter wind. To his eyes the house was modestly built by noble standards, though not having extensive knowledge of them he could see it wasn’t one of the many towering monstrosities that grace Druchii cities. Following the guide, Tien, Cananatra strode through the corridors with the group and into a dining hall. Not needing to be invited twice he swung his shield off his back and took one of the places indicated. The food looked good. Much better then many of the meals he’d had, especially of late.
This whole druchii fascination with poison, and the need to promise there is none, seems realy unusual for a noble. If he wanted us dead, no doubt we would be.
The faintest hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he began to eat. After a few mouthful Cananatra picked up the wine and half drained his goblet. Placing his goblet back on the table he met the young nobles gaze.

OOC: This is just the culmination of Canan's previous jobs making him reluctant to converse prior to seeing if you live long enough to be worth it. So if I'm a bit brusk in the RP its the character. Just putting that out there.
“These slaves must be resourceful to have taken out the group of dark riders. Added to that they now have the riders weapons and horses. So how many slaves can we expect, how many should we expect to see carrying dark rider gear, are you coming with us and lastly how much are you paying us? That is assuming of course that the slaves, and not something else got your father.”
Up to this point Cananatra had not spoken to the rest of his group. Nor had he any intention of unless spoken to. Throughout other jobs he had long since discovered that for the most part party members would die, either through their own mistakes or uncontrollable external factors. Making friends seemed to be something of an effort in futility.

OOC: Just waiting for Narayov to post. Cananatra, glad that you're sticking to character.

IC: As the noble finished his food, he looked up at his "guests", took a deep breath, and began to speak. "It would seem that your time in Vikarh has stripped you all of your manners. Do you have names, or am I to assume that your position in within society is so great that you need not introduce yourselves to the likes of me? In any case, my father released sixteen slaves, though he did pick from among the fastest and strongest; the last time, he came back bitterly complaining about the lack of challenge in the hunt, so he sent more and stronger. Mistake me not, this house has money, and can afford such extravagances, but my low order of birth prevents me from using the house's personnel myself. Lord Tariq took five dark riders with him, and if we are to be prudent, we must assume that they've been slain, being worth little to ransom. Their equipment, then, is likely to be used against us, but I doubt the horses will be of any use to them other than food. There aren't enough to mount them all, nor would the steeds of Naggaroth accept a human for a rider."

"My father had the slaves released to the East so that in the unlikely event they survived long, he'd not have to worry about interference from the shade clans in The Spine. As for my brothers, Tennik and Rirl are on a raid to the human lands. It's funny how they have the gall to call their domains The Empire but if it makes them complacent, we have little to complain about. With my father and my eldest two brothers away, I'm sure that the twins are making fools of themselves in some brothel or other. I wouldn't spare a thought for them."

OOC: Guess we just roll on till Narayov turns up, his last post was in May though so I have no idea if he will show.

IC: Katon finished his food before engaging the Noble, in hind sight they had all been slightly rude for just sitting and eating but that had just come all this way without knowing any details.
‘The family has enough slaves and money to be able to send 16 out on a little game, this family could be a nice little earner’ Katon thinks to him self while his mind wonders to the riches he could acquire. Bringing him self back into the room at the realisation he was still coinless he will introduce him self.

My name is Katon, I do apologise for the rather rude entry but riding for 2 days really does build up an appetite, lets hope we can forget that and perhaps we can facilitate your problem?”

Katon will allow any others the curtsey of presenting them selves before he continues.

Turning back to the Noble Katon will ask “How many days ahead are these ‘Humans’?”
Regardless of the answer he will look to Tamhas for some input, Katon knows Shades are good trackers and hope that Tamhas will be up to the job. Katon will also ask Cananatra if he has any knowledge of Humans and their abilities. Katon will share his knowledge from fighting the marauding men of Chaos out at Ghrond, but these men are more savage than normal men. As the families 2 sons are away in the human realms he will assume the slaves they are after are of the Empire.

Katon will address the Noble and ask the relevant question, he will then look to the rest of the group for some input on the matter.

IC:after lowering his emply glass, Tamhas look directly to Stahl's eyes My name is Tamhas Shad'ill, from the clan Shad'ill of the black mountains. As Katon said, apologize for our rude behavior, sire. I'll need to now what lesser species where the slaves.

Guessing in his look the question of Katon Tamhas saysI can track the slaves, don't worry. Sixteen is a large nummber to pass unnotice and without leaving any tracks behind, this will be an easy hunt.I'm worry of finding the father alive, though

Tamhas look at Cananatra, thinking this guy have a point there. We'll have to be careful

Tamhas will wait to hear the answer about the head start

At the minor nobles rebuke Cananatra’s smile grew slightly wider. Before he could reply his two comrades answered with their names, Katon and Tamhas. Pausing a moment to gather his thoughts he drained his goblet .
Five dark riders, spear and sword a piece. Include the lords gear and we’re looking at twelve armed slaves. Five or six of which could sport armour from the defeated. Outnumbered but facing inferior species. Could still be tricky.
Coming out of his thoughts he spoke.
“Apologies M’lord. My name is Cananatra.”
Waiting a moment as Katon and Tamhas spoke he replied to the question put to him.
“I have some limited knowledge of humans. I fought some slaanesh worshipers, raiders, like myself at the time. For the most part Druchii skill outmatches anything a human has to give.” For just a moment the memory of the chieftain surfaced. “Nevertheless, they can be much more heavily built then any elf and power does make for dangerous opponents. Especially now they are armed. After all, we have no way to know their profession before capture. We may fight soldiers. We will be outnumbered. But of course, by far the best thing to do, is shoot them. As always though, plans await sight of the enemy. They could be half starved wrecks for all we know.”
Having been far more verbose then he had initially intended , Cananatra settled back in his chair to hear the replies of the noble. Though of the opinion that a fight avoided is a fight won, it would still be good to feel the cleaving of flesh and the weight of gold in the palm. Work had been scarce, but now things were looking up.

OOC: Narayov PMed me a couple of days ago, so he should be active. If he doesn't post tomorrow, I'll get someone to replace him. It isn't fair for the people waiting in character creation for someone to have a slot that's not eager for it.

"You are being paranoid, lowborn, and I am not a lord. I'm sure that if there was a fight, my father would have accounted for several of them, not to mention his cold one. Have you ever seen what happens when a cold one is deprived of its rider in battle? I have not, but I've been assured that it isn't pretty. The only reason you ride with me is because I need someone to watch my back. The humans were released two days before my father went after then. He's been gone for two weeks now. Obviously, it's too late in the day to make way now, so the humans will have a lead of seventeen days. Considering the fact that even if they manage to tame those steeds, they'll still have to move at the pace of a man walking, it should not be hard for our shades to track them."

"In any case, I grow tired of this conversation, and I shall retire to my chambers. Tien, show our guests to their rooms."

At that the elf, who had been quietly standing in the corner, approached the group and bid them follow him.

He for sure doesn't care that much as he says so

Tamhas stood up when Stahl standed as a sing of respect, and watch as Tien come out of the shadows. We'll begin as soon as possible, sire.

He looked as Stahl left the room.

Hunting humans. It's not as fun as hunting wild beasts, but at least my pockets will be filled

Humans tend to be careless for leaving tracks, moreover when they are been chased. We can start whenever you guys want to, but two weeks is a lot of time for the weather to erase the path for us

anyhow, the faster the better chance on getting the father alive.

He sat down and see if there was anymore wine or food before following Tien to the rooms.

IC: Standing also to show respect as Stahl leave the room Katons mind is going over what Tamhas and Cananatra had to say. ‘Finding these slaves will be easy enough, the fight seems as it will weigh in the slaves favour as it stands’ Katon thinks to him self. Katon is also comforted that his comrades are not just mindless drunkards from Vikarh as many mercenaries were, they actually sounded they would be half decent in a fight raised Katons spirit slightly.

Katon thinks that ‘Stahl coming could be problematic, I doubt he has any combat experience and to have him die would see no payment and also put a household after our heads.’ Putting this to the back of his mind he thinks of the rest of the group, with Cananatra already formulating some sort of plan in the form of ‘shooting them’. Katon thinks that this will be easier said than done. Still at which the speed Cananatra had come up with an idea to dispatch the foe was good.

With this in mind Katon will now think towards strategies to put towards the group him self. Being in the army what is needed of you is dictated to you. Though an ex-serviceman Katon is capable of independent thought and will use past knowledge from his service in the army to add his 2 cents to the group’s plans, if there are any. With a 17 day ride Katon will try to engage in a conversation of tactics on the way. Katon sees this throwing of ideas around to be a good thing and should open up to him how his comrades work.

The thought of rest and a bed for the night is a welcome comfort from the rough living he had to endure to get here.

Katon will sit back down and hang around for a while and see if the other members have any ideas, or at least a wake up time, early will be good, more time to begin the chase.

Arlith will introduce himself and then follow with the group to their rooms.

Tien leads the group out the door and into the hall, turning left. The torches along the walls have been lit, and the hall is warmer than the cold dining room. At the end of the hallway is a polished marble spiral staircase. Tien leads the group up the stairs and down another hallway to the guests' quarters. "These two rooms will be yours, rest well, the wilds of Naggaroth are not quite as comfortable." With that, Tien walks back the way he came, as he moves out of sight, the group can hear his shoes clicking down the stairway before fading into silence.

After standing in the hall for several awkward seconds, Katon offers to share a room with Cananatra, who shrugs his shoulders and proceeds to enter the room, leaving Katon to follow, leaving the two shades with the other.

Inside each room lies a queen sized four poster bed, a table surrounded by chairs, and a chamber pot. Three lit torches adorn each of the East, South, and West walls while the North features a row of small windows at head height and a modestly sized fireplace. In the fireplace there're hot coals banked by ash. To the left sits a pile of neatly stacked logs, with kindling to the left of that pile. On the right side of the fireplace stands a rack with brass fire implements artfully forged. The leather on the bellows has been tooled to resemble a dragon's head. Above the fireplace hangs a small blue banner, embroidered with the sigil of House Tariq.

IC: After fasting the glass of wine, Tamhas followed Tien and the others throw the corridors Nice place.

They stopped in front of two wooden doors, crafted with the family sigils.

Two rooms, four of us. Hopefully i won't be stuck with a chitchatter

After a while, Katon offered Cananatra to share the room leaving Tamhas and Arlith in the hall.

They entered the room, noticing there was only one bed great, now it seems that or we share the bed or one of us have to sleep in the floor. Realizing this, Tamhas went straight to the bed, and laid down, watching if Arlith would dare to try to do the same.

coldly looking at Arlith, Tamhas says: you better understand that for a matter of hierarchy i'm taking the bed.

After that, he tries to sleep a while, always trying to stay aware of the movements of his surroundings. You never know who can stab you in your sleep

just that

As they meandered down the corridors, Arlith took in all the tapestries and various brick-a-brack. Better taste than I would have expected, but still flashy. When they arrived at the rooms, he watched as Katon and Cananatra took a room together. As he walked in the room, the other guy, Tamhas, walked in and flopped on the bed, claiming his superiority. Would have took the floor anyway, but this pompous little prig needs to be taught a lesson. No need to hurt him, he just needs some manners. Arlith unslings his cocked crossbow, and in one smooth motion points it straight between Tamhas' eyes, holds for a second, then shoots the wall just above his head, leaving the bolt quivering as a distinct warning."Certainly, if you realize I'm not breaking you legs and taking the bed as a matter of preference." he says, his voice dripping with venom, cold as the grave.
After making his point, Arlith re-slings his crossbow and takes a corner, using his cloak for a blanket.[/i]

Stepping into the room Cananatra walked over to the window and gazed out. The murky glass made for a bad view and abandoning trying to see through it he pushed one open before moving away. The fresh air crisp in his lungs. Striding away, Cananatra moved towards the back of the room and the table. Picking up a chair he pulled it over under the window and set it in the corner. Pausing just a moment to shrug the shield off his back Cananatra sat down heavily on the chair and looked over at Katon. Before he can say anything the distinct twang of a repeater crossbow sounds from the other room.

Children. Or murder. Granted I would hardly care if one killed the other but such an occurrence would weaken the group making it more difficult to kill a bunch of slaves. Pausing for a moment as he contemplated calling out to them to grow up he adjusted his sword to hang more comfortably.

after some minutes of playing asleep, a cold feeling reached Tamhas's forehead

i've disturbed the peace on the lad

opening his eyes, he realize that he has a crossbow to his head. Certainly, if you realize I'm not breaking you legs and taking the bed as a matter of preference Arlith said. Then he shot the wall. nice played

When he went to the corner, Tamhas took his sword careful enough to not make a sound and waited until Arlith got asleep it doesn't worth it. Better work with him.

After a while, he got off the bed without a sound made too damn soft. i should have thought about this.

Again, as silently as possible, he laid in the cold floor and took the bed's blankets this is better

got asleep

Awaking to the creak of springs, Arlith opened one eye slowly, and watched as Tamhas climbed to the floor and fell asleep. A small smile tugged at Arliths' lips.
We'll make this work yet, lad...We'll make this work yet.
With that, Arlith drifted off to sleep.
Sleeping peacefully.

The pale Naggarothi sun rose slowly, brightening the rooms through frosted glass windows. Gradually, Cananatra woke up to the sight of his breath in the air before he. Shivering, he briefly berated himself for failing to stoke the fire the night before, but he grumbled to himself, something along the lines of "Fresh air...character...many more nights in far colder conditions." He stood up, rolling his shoulders and tossing his cloak back behind him before a sharp knock interrupted his train of thought.

Meanwhile, in the other room. Gradually slipping back into consciousness, Tamhas awoke, feeling well rested but reluctant to leave the warmth of the soft duvet which surrounded him and cushioned the hard floor. Uncomfortably, he rubbed the top of his head, not remembering how that had happened, before glancing at the bolt in the wall and the hairs on the bed. He thought to himself "I'm glad he's a good shot, but I'd not care to roll the dice twice on such a stunt." He called over to Arlith "Sa'an'ishar, your sloth reflects poorly on all Autarii." Waking with a start, Arlith responds "Nagh'kar it's cold." Tamhas was forming a chiding remark when he was cut off by a knocking at the door.

As the group gathered in the hall, a halfling slave addresses the group, while keeping its eyes firmly on the ground "Sir Stahl would have you break your fasts." With that, the little creature turned and began to make his way along the hallway. The group, impressed by such an exotic slave, stand briefly before following, careful not to appear rushed. The group are lead to a familiar dining room, where fires roar on either side of the room, bringing welcome warmth to sluggish limbs. The group took their places from the night before, the slave briefly commented "My master has already supped and awaits you in the armoury when you've eaten." before hurrying off to fetch food for the guests. He returned shortly, with a pair of humans in tow, each with a dish in either hand. The slaves quickly set the plates before their intended targets, each plate home to cooked oats, an egg, and some ham.

The four Druchii ate quickly, washing their food down with the mugs of water before them. The meal could not compare with what they'd had the night before, but was a great deal better than the trail rations they had to look forward to.

When they'd finished, the halfling lead them around the back of the blacksmith to a small armoury, where two young Druchii stood layering dalakoi over Stahl's khaitan. Upon seeing his newfound retinue approach, Stahl called out "Klath!", and at this, a grizzled dwarf walked through the door to the smithy with a small bag. "Dawi, one to each of them."

"As long as you are in my service, you will wear these pins, passersby will be able to tell at a glance that you're in the employ of this house. Gradually, the two Druchii servants completed the ritual, finally hanging upon their young master the flesh hooks and keikalla that marked him as ready to fight. The helm, he refused, instead telling the servant to hitch it to his horse. Arrayed for battle, Stahl made a dashing figure, his auburn hair caught by the morning breeze. Despite his haughty demeanor, Stahl's movements seemed somewhat hampered by the armour, as if he was unused to wearing it, perhaps he hadn't seen battle, or perhaps it was simply a new set.

Stahl himself led the group to the front gate, where a slave held the reins to four horses, one of which had a small spear rack attached to its saddle, a young Druchii holding the reins to a fifth, caparisoned in the markings of house Tariq, with a lance affixed vertically to each side of the saddle. Five packs lay on the ground. One of the two who had been equipping Stahl came running with his crossbow, deftly hanging it on Stahl's back. Rifling through them quickly, the group could see that two of them contained only food, while the other three also contained about two score bolts each, preloaded into their clips. Next to the packs was a pile of dark brown clothing, gloves and extra cloaks for each man. "One of you will carry my pack for me, I care not who."

OOC: Here's a link to the language guide if you're having trouble with the sparse Druhir or are curious, I think it contains all the words I've used: http://www.druchii.net/monthly/issues/Jan04_2.pdf. More to come on the morrow, but I thought I'd post this part tonight in case anyone wanted to get a word in edgewise.

"Sa'an'ishar, your sloth reflects poorly on all Autarii." With a start, Arlith awoke. Shades of the pit, it's cold. Why...Ah, we forgot the fire. Well, I've slept in worse. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he pulls his cloak around him and does a quick check of his equipment. "Nagh'kar, it's cold." he says, more for conversations sake than anything else. He was still considering throwing a few logs on the fire when a knock at the door heralded the arrival of a servant.
He saw the others joining him in the hall, and see's a halfling slave cringing under the fours gaze. It speaks in a high squeaky voice. "Sir Stahl would have you break your fast." He follows it with the group at a slow, deliberate pace till they reach the dining room from the previous night. The halfling informed them they were to go to the armoury after breakfast, and then left through some side door to fetch food, coming back with two humans, all with food. One of the humans set a plate down in front of him, careful to avert its eyes.
The meal consisted of cooked oats, an egg, and some ham, which was actually quite good. Just like they used to give us on the docks...'Course, we know the ham is from a pig, here... After the meal, and with warmth returned to his limbs, he followed the halfling with the rest around the back of a blacksmith to a small armoury, where two younger elves girded their master for battle. The young noble eyes them as they approach, then shouts "Klath!", summoning a grizzled old dwarf. "Dawi, to each of them." the noble commands, turning back to the group as the slave shuffles forward.
"As long as you are in my service, you will wear these pins, passersby will be able to tell at a glance that you're in the employ of this house." Stahl goes on, waiting for the young elves to finish outfitting him. Eventually, the two Druchii complete the ritual, finally hanging on Stahl the flesh hooks and keikalla that marked him as ready to fight. The helm he refused, instead telling one of the elves to hitch it to his horse. Kitted out for battle, Stahl actually looked like the young noble he was. Despite that, though, there was something odd about how he moved. Why does he hold his shoulders like that? He can barely move his arms! Arlith chuckles inwardly. Somehow I doubt he's Black Guard material. Ah, but that means we have to watch over him in a fight... It was a sobering thought, and the amusement dried up.
Stahl led the group to the front gate, where a slave was waiting for them with four horses, one of which had a small spear rack attached to its saddle, and a young Druchii holding the reins to a fifth, garnered in the markings of house Tariq, with a lance attached vertically on each side of the saddle. One of the two elves who had been equipping Stahl came running with his crossbow, hanging it on Stahl's back. Five leather packs packs lay on the ground. Searching through them quickly, he noticed that two contained only food, the other three containing in addition about two score bolts each, preloaded into their clips. Next to the packs was a pile of dark brown clothing, gloves and extra cloaks for each man. The noble looked arrogantly at the group. "One of you will carry my pack for me, I care not who."
Well, no-one else wants to lose face...
Gritting his teeth, Arlith says, "Of course, Sir Stahl. I will carry your bag, and one of the bags with bolts in it." Looking at the group he says "I suggest that Tamhas, you also carry a bag with bolts in it. Since you have a crossbow, you may need to access ammunition quickly."
Arlith will grab two bags with bolt clips in and throw the extra clothes in one of them, and arrange them so the clips are on top of everything else. He will, however, put one clip in each bag right at the bottom, just in case. Then, he'll go over to a horse without the spear rack and mount.

Awaking in the morning took the path it had many times before. The crisp air in his lungs quickly brought him fully awake though he sat with eyes closed for a short time. When he opened them he could see the room was much as he had left it the night before, his misting breath hung in the air just in front of his face. Shivering in a mixture of both pleasure and pain Cananatra stood and quickly worked some life back into his chilled limbs. As the knock sounded he grabbed his shield and swung it to his back before adjusting his sword. Glancing over at his silent room mate he moved to the door and stepped outside to be met by the sight of a Halfling. The meal it supplied was nothing special. But it was warm and filling and that was all that really mattered.

After the meal they followed the short guide around to the armoury where their employer was being armed by slaves. At his order one of the slaves gave out some small pins bearing the mark of his house.
We’re heading out into the wilds and he wants us to wear pins. Who is ever going to see us?
Pushing the thought aside Cananatra took the pin offered to him and gazed briefly at his light armour. Finding one of the leather straps holding his armour on near the shoulder he managed to, convince, the pin to slide through and hold firm. As his gaze returned to the young lord his uncomfortable manner was evident. Either he was unused to the armour, or fearful of what was to come. Neither was a good thought.

As he moved off towards the front of the house the group followed behind. Horses and supplies awaited them all. Walking over to one full of food he quickly lifted it up. As he did so his eyes fell on the pile of cloths. Dropping the pack again he quickly stuffed all but the gloves and cloak into it. Swinging his shield from his back he settled the cloak on before putting the shield hanging over it for easy access. Hunkering down he pulled off his gauntlets and put on the gloves, before sliding the gauntlets back on over them. The feeling was slightly uncomfortable, but infinitely preferable to the touch of cold steel wrapped around his fingers once the gauntlets cooled in the wind.

Grabbing the pack once more, he rose and walked towards one of the horses without the spears. He quickly tied the bag of supplies onto the saddle and pulled himself up.
“One of you can have the spears. I have no experience using them on foot, let alone on horseback.”
FYI, the horse with the rack has a rack only, no spear on it, unless you're referring to the horse with the lances, which are lances, not spears.
Settling into position in the saddle the horse shifted its weight slightly and Cananatra pitched to the side. Grabbing the saddle pommel he pulled himself back upright before going far. I really hate horses and the sooner we get done travelling all over the place the sooner I can get off them.

OC: Sorry for late post all, was busy with work.

IC: Katon was slightly glad that Cananatra had allowed him the bed, though he would have shared if the need has arisen. Katon awoke to see Cananatra still sat in the same position he was when he fell asleep, then drifting back off to sleep for a while. Katon was then awoken by the grumblings in the hall way, hearing something of food he dawns on his equipment. Katon will join the rest for breakfast.
Following the group he is confused of how they know the way to the dinning hall, on arriving in the large hall Katon spies the small creature. He’s never seen such a small Human before, smaller than a Dwarf, looks like a Human but not a child, features much more defined like an adults. Complexed is Katon by this strange breed of human but says nothing.

Greatful for the meal, especially just before a long hunt where the only thing to look forward too will be preserved food ‘well I hope we get food’ thinks Katon. Katon tucks in and demolishes the food just as the rest of the group.
Following the group to the armoury Katon is presented with the family mark on a pin, Katon attaches it to his armour, and thinks nothing more of it.

Following Stahl to the front gate Katon is somewhat relived they are actually embarking on their mission. Katon picks up the last Pack and has a look through, ‘at least he’s brought food for all of us’ thinks Katon to him self ‘though im sure the Shades would be able to hunt and supply a much more edible diet’.

Seeing the horse with the spear rack Katon will assume this is his as he is the only one with a spear ‘glad I’ve not got to carry this, was annoying on the way up, over a week of riding and I might just toss it’.

Katon climbed on to his horse, after affixing his spear and pack. Adjusting his shield now in the saddle and checking he can reach either his sword or spear with relative ease he will sit back and wait for the group to finish preparing. ‘Glad they teach you how to ride in the army, not that I enjoy it at any rate.’

The sounds of the morning became louder as Tamhas gradually sliped back into consciousness, feeling well rested but reluctant to leave the warmth of the soft duvet which surrounded him and cushioned the hard floor morning already, should get up before Arlith.

Uncomfortably, he rubbed the top of his head, not remembering how that had happened, before glancing at the bolt in the wall and the hairs on the bed. i'll have more care with my words until i know this guy

I'm glad he's a good shot, but I'd not care to roll the dice twice on such a stunt.

After getting up and arrange his clothings, he called over to Arlith Sa'an'ishar, your sloth reflects poorly on all Autarii. Waking with a start, Arlith responds coldly Nagh'kar it's cold. .

A knock in the door stopped Tamhas of forming a chiding remark. A little slave at the door unnerved by the presence of obviously angry elves called Sir Stahl would have you break your fasts. After watching as the group take their places in the hall he began walking to the dinning roomfrom where is this race from? he is most certainly a curious creature

There, they had their breakfast. better than what i'm used to after finishing they went to the armory, where he was handled a pin with the sigil of the house. He heard what Stahl said, and put it in his shirt, so it could be hid with his cloak if necessary I don't want this shinny thing to show where i am.

After leaving the armoury, he saw the five backpacks, and went for one with food this will be heavy at first, but it will get lighter as we travel

I suggest that Tamhas, you also carry a bag with bolts in it. Since you have a crossbow, you may need to access ammunition quickly. Damn, i didn't thought of that.

Looking at the set of cloths, he took them and put them at the bottom of his backpack, leaving some clippers below the cloths, but most of them over. at least this will get lighter also, not as fast as the food, but still.

He went toward one of the horses, put his hand at the pomme and skillfully mounted. ok, lets go.

Tamhas will follow as near the lead as possible, watching for any tracks that the slaves or Lord Tariq could have left

OOC: i'm looking at the journal, but i can't find the words... just find "ishaar" which means "mother", but that's it :(

OOC: Sa'an'ishar means shields and spears, it's commonly used to rally troops, and to a lesser extent, to rouse people.
