Before the meeting was even ended Malus left the room, as it happened though there was nothing else to say and with a final quip the rest of the group filed out of the office.

None seemed to want to talk while still inside the tower, closely escorted by their 'guide' who would no doubt report on anything he heard to his, and their, master.

Once deposited out on the street however there was discussion to be had. Surprisingly it was the usually taciturn shade who had the most to say
"We should go around to this forest and approach the manor from the south. I can scout ahead and clear the way for the rest of you. No one objected, which could have meant that they were all in favour, or that they saw no reason to tell everyone what they thought of the plan. Regardless Syjahel pulled out the map they had been given.

It showed southern Vikrha in breathtaking detail, each street, alley, house and shop drawn by hand down to the gardens and annotated in a tight script. Finding the web of markings and runes indicating Sultra's own tower it did not take long to chart a route round the Dalvar estate.

The sun was setting as they set off bathing the roof tops in glory. Vaul's forge opened behind the clouds; that was what they used to say. Of course a side effect of this was to cast the streets into shadow. The group trotted along at a good pace, the streets of Vikrha were not safe at night even for a group of heavily armed mercenaries, and they could ill afford delays.

They did not stop then when they heard noises behind them, footsteps. The group dismissed them as they faded away, footpads were desperate elves, but some at least could recognise a target which was quite simply not worth the trouble.

After another half hour of marching the buildings began to thin out as they neared the city walls. According to the map the Dalvar estate was located just beyond the main walls, enclosed within its own. Doubtless there was a reason for this oddity, but if any living knew they were not within the group.

The more immediate question was how they were going to get out of the gates, the guard were reluctant to open them after dark unless one had proper permission.

Pondering this question the group retired from the main street into a shadowed side street, where the gate sentries would be less likely to see them.

It was a scraping that gave them away, if it had not been for that the five some would likely never have noticed that their purses were gone until it was far too late. As it was the sound of boot leather scraping on a loose tile caught the attention of all five. Half standing, half crouching on the nearest sloping roof top squatted a child swathed in patched robes far too large for him, a conciliatory grin on his face and the beginnings of panic in his eyes.

Right so the Dalvar estate and the woods thereof are to the south, but you are separated from them by the city walls. All of you are now in an alley way close to the walls but out of sight of the gate. It is twilight and the urchin is on a roof a couple of feet above your heads.

The next deadline is 12 midnight Feb. 9th.

So. They were tasked again with a disagreeable, dangerous and aggravating request from their sometime employer, and now the very laws of the city - as mutable and open to interpretations widened by a healthy purse as those might be - conspired to keep them inside the city walls put there ostensibly for their protection. And in contemplation of just how to flout these particular laws, they had fallen foul of more illegal activity. Such was the shortness of temper of the Lord's favourite daughter that she was prepared to shoot the urchin without a second thought, and she raised her crossbow to do just that.

Conscience seldom troubles a Druchii highborn. They are as like to mistake it for indigestion.

She had the map, and had been impressed with its fine craftsmanship and quality - it was probably worth a small fortune on its own, but it was also a useful asset and she was not one to waste those thoughtlessly. She also wasn't about to have her money stolen by a commoner's brat. The two strands of thought entwined in something like a plan, or half of one at least. She considered herself adept at thinking on her feet.

"You have a choice, child. Come down from the roof, or be shot like a gull." She levelled her crossbow at the urchin's head, no question she meant what she said. "Return our purses and I will let you live." With paranoid concern that the child was just a distraction, she wanted to turn to scan the rooftops and alleyways, but she couldn't look everywhere at once. Quickly, she chose the one of the group she'd found the most steady.

"Khalea, will you check the sniping points - I have a feeling this child may not be alone?" Of course, she couldn't order the Shade, but she hoped that she would understand what she was thinking of. A child like this could easily be the distraction for a more organised group.

Syjahel wasn't sure of the finer details just yet, but she thought that the child might be of use as a distraction for the guards. The brat was stealthy, and used to surviving on the streets. Probably used to outrunning guards ... certainly expendable if not.

Syjahel will keep her crossbow trained on the urchin until it either does what it's told or she has to shoot it. Which, by the way, she will do without a second thought.

[OOC: well, it was a tiny bit of a shock to realise that her first response was to shoot the urchin and take back her purse, but there it is. It was hard work not having her do just that, but it would have been a very short post (if it worked). I think I've made a logical extension. Hope so ...]

You actualy still all have your purses at this point, the urchin gave himself away before he stole them, not in the getaway.- Drainial

Khalea reacted as soon as she noticed the urchin, sliding back into the shadows as she checked the multiple places she kept her gold. Fortunately, none of it was missing, as she would really have been angry at herself if she had not only missed the opportunity to spend the gold, but then lost it immediately. She heard Syjahel giving orders, and couldn't help but smile to herself as she wondered how the others would react. Khalea pulled her cloak against her as she stealthily hunted, using its dark color and shape to hide her while she attempted to locate any more of the kids.

Khalea knew she was at a disadvantage in terms of the hide and seek game she would have to play with any urchins that were out there. They would know where she was to start, and she had no clue if there were any others. However, she also had more experience than them, so it all evened out in the end.

Khalea would enjoy the challange.

Khalea will attempt to locate any other orphans while also attempting to stay hidden. She doesn't have her crossbow unlimbered so she will just use her daggers and fear in order to try to catch any other urchins, if they happen to exist.

Malus had never seen such a shild. An he was unwilling to kill it directly. Maybe because he still held onto a small bit of moral, but more likely becaus it could be use full. Seeing the reactions of the others, and of cours the nobels command, he decided upon his action. He'd sneek around the child attempting to surprise it and bring his dagger to his throat, that was always usefull when talking to somneone.

He just hoped it woulden't see him, but he was a shade in a wood after all!, as he did not like the idea of getting the kids blood on his new cloak.

Malus will attempt to sneek around the kid and surprise it from the back.

You are not in a wood yet, you are still inside the city walls and he is on a low rooftop. Not to say you still can't try to slip around him.

With a hand bow pointed directly at his face and at a distance where it would be difficult to miss the urchin child quickly discarded the idea of immediate flight. Cheeky grin in place (no doubt in some well calculated scheme to win confidence from his intended victims come captors) the child held his hands up in the air. In roughly accented Druhk Eltharion he said
"Right you are miss, of course miss. I didn't steal nothing Miss.

So saying he let his feet fall out from under him and slid the short way down the sloped roof, expertly catching the gutter with one hand as he dropped off the end before lowering himself to the ground and falling the last few feet. Despite his obvious youth it was clear that the urchin had had more than enough experience on the rooftops of the city to mark him as a criminal of habit, and grace enough already to mark him as one with a bright future amongst the thieves of the mercenary city, if only he could live through the night. Dropping to the ground he held up his hands again.

Khalea, after a swift check about her person, perhaps unwittingly showing any lurking thieves just exactly where she kept her coin, decided to heed Syjahel's orders. Drawing one long dagger from its sheath at her belt she melted back into a darker patch of shadow and moved as quickly as she could, rushing silently down the street. In seconds she had covered fifty yards and turned to look all about her. In part it seemed her plan had worked, for her sudden movement had caught the hidden watchers off guard.

There, on the roof top! She saw one creeping forward on his/her belly (it was impossible to tell the sex of the child, blurred as it was by the dying light). Slowly, stealthily, the shade began to creep forwards, perhaps with an eye to climbing up onto the skyline herself. As she did though her senses, honed by many long hunts in the wilds, picked up movement behind her. Whirling she was just in time to see a tiny lithe figure plunge past her, arms out stretched to snatch a purse quickly withdrawn.

Not hesitating the shade rushed forwards. The child was fast and nimble, but the longer legs of the shade soon made up the distance and within a few strides she held a filthy squirming child by the scruff of the neck. Instantly it started to flail about, desperately trying to break free while roundly cursing her captor (for this one at least was a girl). Only when she felt the touch of cold hard steel on the back of her neck did the child quieten.

As Khalea headed back to the group with her prise Malus had already run off on his own. Before the first urchin had had time to respond to Syjahel's threats he had decided to take matters into his own hands. Slipping around the corner he made a quick dash in full view of the guards had any been watching (luckily the coming night's chill and the warm blaze of the guard post stove had drawn them inside for the moment). The shade was looking for a stack of crates he had seen earlier, sure enough they were there, wooden boxes half the height of a man stacked four deep.

There were easily enough hand holds for any elf to climb and Malus scampered up one side in moments. From here it was but a hop over to the roof top. Once up on the skyline Malus pressed himself flat against the tiles, it would not do to silhouette himself against the sun set. Silently he began to move forward, half dragging with his hands, half slithering across the tiles like a serpent he made good time. It was not long before he found himself peering over the edge down onto the sloping roof that was to have been the urchin's runway from which to launch an assault on their finances. Unfortunately the child was no longer there, though out of the corner of his eye the shade did see something...

Down on the ground the urchin was in something of a sticky situation, with no money to return he had nothing to barter with, nothing with which to appease his captors. To the irritation of the noble and her Khainite companion he was a talkative little brat.
"Fine bit of kit that, fine bit of kit. I wouldn't mind one of them when I grow up," he said, nodding towards the handbow.
"So I ask me self, what’s a fine reputable group of mercs doing hiding down some dingy alley at this time. Should be gett'en sloshed or killin people of something by rights I figure." the urge to roll one’s eyes was difficult to repress.

When he went without response, either verbal or physical the urchin lapsed into silence for a few moments. Cocking his head to one side he appeared to be thinking. As Khalea dragged back a temporarily docile girl child by the scruff of her neck he broke his silence once more.
"You'd be wanting to get out over the walls then." he received nothing but glares, but for one so young he was apparently adept at reading faces.
"Suit your selves, but if you decide not to stick me with nothin I maybe could help." At this the other child spoke up for the first time
"You shut up Imi, he won’t like it."
"Shut up yourself girly, I can handle him. the boy responded.

Sinful meanwhile was apparently quite taken aback with this turn of events. Though he gave his purse a quick check he took no further action. Ildren too seemed prepared to take a back seat, his militaristic ideals of little use in rounding up children.

Ok so the first urchin (the boy) is now at ground level with his back close to the wall. He is in front of Syjahel who has her hand bow levelled at his head with Sinful just behind her. Khalea has rejoined the group with the second urchin who she is holding by the scruff of her neck, with a dagger pressed up against the child's throat (it's a hard life). Malus is just above where the first urchin was originally though on a flat section of roof. There is at least one more child out there, possibly more.

Edit: The next deadline is 12 midnight 17th Feb

OOC: I’m on a very tight schedule these few weeks and am having reoccurring computer problems sorry about the inactivity and yet another short post, but I should be back on track the week after this.

Cough in his usual contemplative daze Sinfulblade was staring blankly off into nowhere even as action stirred around him. Crossbows were drawn and little kids were trying to bargain for a safe release, yet the pyro somehow managed to miss that. Slowly shifting his gaze Sinful snapped out of his day-dreming only as he set his eyes on the motionless grunt that was Ildren. Hissing silently to himself Sinful turned away from him and looked at the mess that he had missed.

“You find target practice only suitable on small children, noblewoman?”

The teal khainate remarked leaning back against a nearby wall, his arms crossed over his chest, the arrogant elf finding no need to draw his blades as it seemed that the experienced cut-throats of the most sinister nation in the world had a few kids all under control.

With a quick glimpse at his purse Sinful will not get involved with loud-mouth urchins, he finds the idea of someone from the nobility conversing with someone of the lowest ranks in society just too good to pass

Well, a few seconds into the conversation the Druchii noble's paranoia (always finely tuned, not to say highly strung) ratchetted back down a notch as she realised that she'd been carrying her gold under her armour. That was fine; nothing stolen, and the talkative brat might have something useful to offer. And that was when Sinfulblade decided to break his silence with sarcasm.

"Oh no. By all means, I'd be just as happy to take my shots at someone taller." Syjahel turned and allowed her handbow to describe a graceful arc from the urchin to the front, to the side and down, passing through a point aimed directly between the teal elf's eyes. She'd been short-tempered enough to begin with - how long had it been since a night of the kind of pleasures the child had described? - and she was more than tired of having to take the lead in everything that demanded actually speaking. So she took a step or two back, holstered her handbow, and gave a mocking little bow.

"Please, Sinfulblade, do deal with the situation as you see fit. I've no doubt you will have an original stance on the problem. Do not let my rank or experience prevent you from taking charge on this occasion. Never let it be said I am not fair."

Let them deal with it; she was sick of having to take the lead then collecting dirty looks for being the leader.

Ildren she knew nothing of, though she suspected him of being a spy for Sultra; the steady Khalea and the other Shade, Malus - well, a talkative Autarii was like the Northern Lights, a curiosity of nature. But there was something in the psychotic Khainite's manner that just brought out her desire to see him tied to a cartwheel and whipped.

Malus saw his companion wasting time with the kid. Taking advantage of his high position ,with nothing better to do he looked around for more of this thiefs, of corse with his crossbow in his hands. The only reason he did not kill the first kid was becaus it could be use full. If some one else was hiding here he would not be that lucky. The best time to shoot them would be when they did not know he had noticed them.

Malus got in a bit of cover, as much as he could find in an instance, and lodad his crossbow. He'd shoot the first kid he notice with a well aimed bolt, and an other one just to be on the safe side and one because it would look good.

Khalea had dragged her prisoner back to the group, however she did not release it and kept the dagger out, scanning the area for any more of the buggers.

“You find target practice only suitable on small children, noblewoman?” the big teal elf muttered, to which Khalea replied.

Why not, small targets are harder to hit. Just have to remember to aim low.

However, her snarky comment aside, Khalea decided to watch and see how the affair between the large teal elf and the noble's daughter turned out. She tossed the elf urchin toward her friend with a warning. "If you try to run my friend will be forced to shoot you. " She said without hinting at Malus' position.

With that said she unlimbered her crossbow, figuring that she might need to use it soon.

Khalea will not actively get involved in the argument between sinful and syjahel, however she is must more inclined to support the the former noblewomen.

She will also keep watch for any more threats.. urchins, guards, mercenary, drunks... the like.

The urchins seemed almost to have been forgotten in a sudden bout of infighting, Syjahel finally snapping as insults and jibes continued to be the mainstay of Sinfulblade's conversational style. Khalea returned to the group, but did not advance the situation much, seeing the conflict more as a spectators sport than something she had any stake in. Whether this was the start of some power play on the part of either the noble or the Khainite, or just tempers fraying, she was staying out of it, for now at least.

Malus meanwhile had rediscovered his cruel streak and had taken an abrupt u turn from not particularly wanting to hurt the children to doing a spot of hunting. Hunkering down he scanned the roof tops with all the patience and expertise that could be garnered from a life time of living by his wits and his bow.

But the forests of the Dragon Spine mountains were not much like the world of grey slate tiles and puffing chimneys he now found himself in. Unseen from street level he was all too open to the higher houses set around. His quarry was far more accustomed to this environment and after the debacle their comrades had fallen into the kids had finally found the sense to hide themselves.

Back on the ground Syjahel waited for an answer from her insolent fellow, the silence stretched out, with tension following swiftly behind. Eventually the quiet was broken, but not by Sinful.
"Quit grandstanding both of you, we have a job to do." he said, apparently fed up with their bickering already. Turning to the first thief he said "I'm listening, but Vikrah won’t miss two little sneak thieves and I don't much like petty criminals, especially not when they are after my money. Why shouldn't I nail you to the nearest door?"

The boy didn't seem all that worried about the large mercenary's threats, but he stopped watching his captors scraping amongst themselves and answered.
"Well sir," he said, with deference that edged close to irony "If you go nailen me to stuff your gona have to wait till dawn to get out those gates. I can get you out, if you let me show you," The girl was writhing in Khalea's grasp causing a thin trickle of blood to run unnoticed down her neck
"No! Imi you can't! to the mercenaries she gasped, voicing verging on a scream "Don't listen to him, he doesn't know anything!" She lapsed back into silence as Khalea took a firm grip of her shoulder and forced her to be still once more, the girl stood there, trembling.

Physically everything is just the same as before, except that Malus has wriggled back a little so as not to be visible from the street (no other cover to hand up there). The next deadline is 12 midnight 23rd Feb.

Malus did not see any body. He guessed that this was not for lake of enemies but for lake of his abelities, in a city.
Going back down the way he came he crunshed behind the boxes which had helped him to come up. Aiming at the to childeren infront of the group he looked around for others. He waited for the others, that is the nobel to make the dicision, he didn't want to make his odd's of finding someone even worse by talking aloud, he was ready shoot either of the childeren if they made the wrong move.
If they decide to go some where he'll guard the rear (as usual xD)

It wasn't the laconic Shades that the noble's daughter had any problem with, really; and as for the newest warrior to join them - likely he was Sultra's man through and through. Perhaps he'd have information about his Lord's mistress, wife or concubine; though that was irrelevant to the current situation, she could feel her mind beginning to wander as she waited to see how Sinfulblade planned to unleash his master plan. She brought her attention back to the matter in hand.

This should be entertaining, at the least. She watched him, her face a careful blank, No sense in looking further disunited in front of this rabble of street urchins. Syjahel came from a large family, but she'd been the pampered baby herself and considered these brats a mere unruly litter. Still, they probably do have a way to come and go as they please. If they live on the streets, then they must also live on their wits. It only remained to see how Sinful planned to extract this knowledge.

Syjahel settled with her back to a wall and her hand on her sword-hilt, waiting, keeping an alert eye on the shadows as well as the conversation.

Syjahel will watch what unfolds, and take her cues from Sinfulblade for now, unless there is immediate physical danger to react to. She's also listening to everything the children say - not only do they sometimes pick up more than adults would think, but there is obviously someone they are afraid of - this could cause problems if their talents are to be made use of.

Grinning arrogantly the gaunt elf acknowledged the fact that the tamper of the noblewoman broke in glee. Turning to the more flamboyant and theatrical part of his character he bowed gracefully as the crossbow slowly drifted to aim at him and was even so kind as to press his forehead against the tip of the bolt.

My My… Are you not the most fiery of maidens, noblewoman. I see now how much anger must be caged down in that shell of yours, this intrigues me

Not able to part with his happy grin Sinfulblade straightened himself and stood tall once again, his eyes darting to the large lackie Sultra had provided to oversee the mission. Narrowing his eyes Sinful dismissed the man as he turned his attention to the noble once more.

I could take matters into my own hands, of course. A few slaps here a few slashes there and the child would be either obediently helpful or obediently dead at least, however, that is neither fun, nor fitting in our jolly group. The captain, the leader the foreguard of this rabble should do the honors and since you find the allure of barking out orders so tempting, then you should take up these petty actions under your wing as well.

Leaning back against the wall the teal elf shook his head, a serious look of contemplation conjured on his face.

After all… Am I not a soldier of Khaine? You as well as me know how incompetent I am in subtle matters, I would rather chew on the neck of that small urchin than strike a deal. After all, deals are a part of the nobles’ realm of intrigue, something alien to me
Shrugging lightly Sinful parted his lips with a sigh and shooed off Syjahel with a few waves of his hand loosely.

Off you go, noblewoman, try to make yourself useful once again, after all, I know that negotiation is your kind of thing… Or should be at least

Finding no more of the wily children on the roof tops Malus clambered back down to the ground, dashing back round to the alley in which the group stood he took his place near the end, covering the urchins with his crossbow should they suddenly make some foolish attempt at escape.

The noble and the Khainite meanwhile were still bickering, Syjahel's rage met by a surprisingly level headed humour on Sinfulblade's part, while the other two looked on.

Unfortunately this did little to break the deadlock, they were still standing in an alley with night proper heading their way fast. When twilight turned to starlight the streets would be home to more dangerous villains than these children.

All of this talk of whips and blades was clearly getting the boy thief confused, hadn’t he already told them he would help? The slow witted did not last long on the streets and it did not take a genius to imagine what they might do to him should he prove uncooperative, further posturing seemed pointless to him, but such was the way of grownups.

Sorry for such a short post but nothing has happened, amusing as these power plays are you they are not particularly helpful for moving the story along. Oh and Darkdoom, the boxes were down another ally, if you are crouching behind them you can't see the kids so I put you back in the alley with the rest of them, but you are not in cover.

Malus saw that his companion were to busy with them self to do anything. Being in the ally of a dark elf city without cover did not particular help to lighten his mood. Getting very annoyed with the unprofessionalism of his companions Malus snapped!

He had a good idea of what they had to do but he did not like to talk, give command or even betray his feelings. May they all rot in hell for making him do this!!!

Khalea: follow the boy and look where he leads you, but stay a fair distance behind him. If he makes ONE wrong move, spike him.

Sinfulblade: get more information from the girl, but please try not to kill her.

Syjahel: Go and search if there are more of those children.

I don’t care if you two hate each other or not, but if you do anything that ruins this mission I will not hesitate to kill either of you.
And not shut the f*** up and get going.

He did not care if the two dark elves killed each other, but he would not let them endanger his life, either because they died on the mission or through the hands of their angry employer!

Malus will stay with Sinful and watch for more kids and his companions back. He does not care what Vikrha pet dog would do as long as he stayed out of his face. If any of the others hesitate, disobey or try to argue, he’ll shoot 1 bolt in front of their feet. After that....

Speech marks show when you are talking better than colour, as exclamation marks are best for emphasising the point.

[OOC far be it for us to stand around playing our characters! :p Let the plot commence ...]

I wouldn't mind at all, but I am trying (once again) to bring in another charactor in the hope that they don't quit straight away, so it is probobly a little frustrating for them to have to wait to be writen in. -Drainial

She hadn't expected much from the tall berserker. Ranting, perhaps. But in truth, his response was too outrageous to ignore. Her free hand never far from her sword-hilt, the noblewoman was startled from her visions of slowly scoring runes of vengeance into that teal skin when Sinfulblade bowed, presenting his face to her bolt. She watched: bemusement softened her outrage and finally, with a short laugh and a shake of her head, so mollified her mood that as she was about to turn and take charge of the situation, she couldn't quite hide the flicker of a grin herself. Airily waved hands and comments on the ways of nobles notwithstanding.

Of all her fellow-travellers, she did not expect the near-silent Shade to speak up from his alleyway hideout. Pausing, though, she thought she could sense a certain concern or panic under his hasty and reluctant words. Such concerns needed to be addressed and a good leader (and of course the nobleman's daughter saw herself as one) would not ignore such issues in the ranks. Making herself understood to the insolent Khainite was one thing; forcing the shy Autarii to take up a role he clearly felt uncomfortable with was poor judgement.

Mis-step. In Syjahel's experience, one got only so many of these.

Blowing a mocking kiss to the tall teal Druchii, she turned and said smoothly,

"An excellent plan, Malus; however I believe it would be a better use of my skills if I were to negotiate here, as I've so politely been requested. And I'm certain that you would make a better job of scouting the terrain than me?"

Turning to the goggle-eyed urchin she said, "You're obviously quite able to think and speak for yourself, though the girl seems to disagree. I would like you to tell me two things: one, how do we get out of the city without using the gate, and two, what is she saying that you don't agree with? I ask," she said, holding up a gloved hand to her companions to indicate that she wasn't doing this for mere dramatic effect, "because if there is a risk, and there always is, I want to know what is it before we take it."

Sinfulblade, no need to hurt the girl yet, if the boy won't answer let her say her piece. We need a little more information, and then we need to get moving. The light is fading."

Syjahel will wait for a response from the child, she doesn't see the need to start cutting bits off or anything like that; only a weak leader would need to prove herself like that at this stage. It had better come quick-smart, though.

She's fairly sure that she can trust (in so far as she uses the word) Khalea to keep an eye out for any more trouble, being as she is level-headed and sharp. She hopes Malus won't mind her ... modifications for the plan, mentally she is kicking herself for having him speak up, but in the back of her mind she's also quite pleased that the two of them have, in their own ways, acknowledged her leadership. Or that's how she chooses to see it ...

Khalea did not like where the confrontation was headed, though she did not know how to improve it. She was no leader, she knew that, and she did not want to have to interfere. In her mind it was far better to sit the spat out, keeping herself out of the spotlight.

However, fortunately Sinful and Syjahel managed to sort their problems out without it coming to blows, with Syjahel taking command once more. Malus had attempted to take command, however he was no leader and everyone knew it. It was obvious that he, like Khalea herself, was more used to working alone.

It would probably be best if we were to hear what both these urchins have to say the normally silent shade said Far better to hear what they both have to say

Normally Khalea would have said to interrogate the two separately, so that the party could find any discontinuity between any lies on the urchins part, however the Druchii were running out of time.

We need to hurry

Khalea will do whatever she is told, while watching for anyone else who tries to sneak up on the party.

OOC: My eyes, they are burning from the rainbow-ish post. Is there not a rule that requires, for simplicity sake, that only moderators should post in colorful font?

Still grinning flamboyantly Sinfulblade closed his eyes and puckered his lips swaying to the sides slowly in a theatrical display of affection and joy in the wake of the fake kiss the noblewoman shared with him. Opening his eyes the teal khainate inhaled and long deep breath before speaking. The inhaling illustrated with extravagance just as much as the body language he used before.

Ahhhh…. Oh daughter of nobility, the kisses you blow are just like the manners you show, well timed but sometimes irritating to someone as lacking of blue blood as me…

Sinfulblade paused for just a split second before continuing in a concerned yet ironic tone

Though on a subsequent overview of my last statement BLUE blood is probably not the best metaphor to use in the presence of me. I should really pitch in more energy in the hopes of finding a possible substitute to that saying

With that out of the picture and the refined battle for power postponed for the time being the sickly looking elf turned to the only other male compatriot of the original group, the same one that to Sinful’s undying irritation was now seeing fit to play the game of “I’m the leader and I know best”. Hissing in a tired tone, thus showing full well that he has little energy left for a brand new argument the pyromaniac elf straightened his cloak and glared at the Autarii.

Tread lightly and forget not to be careful with your threats for someone might just find the need to test you and in all possibility show you the valuable truth of not angering the ones that should not be angered

Fixing his gaze on the man Sinful carefully pushed his thumb against the side of his teal neck and let it slowly slide to the other side. Course since he was just a tactful moralist the gaunt elf did not forget to add an arrogant wink after that.

Now both of the people who confronted him were dealt with and Sinful was free to wander off into his thoughts since liking it or not Syjahel took charge of the negotiations as the khainate wanted and the last two companions of the group were not attacking him or at least didn’t show it clear enough for the to be assassin to notice.

Leaning against the wall once more the slender trainee tried to drift away into his usual visionary day-dreaming, yet could not focus, though irritating that he was the shade might have a good idea on him dealing with the girl. After all, if the presence of simple group of cut-throats was not great enough to scare her into shutting up, then he would damn well make sure to remedy this situation by coming a little bit more close and personal to the brat.

Pushing himself away from the cool bricks he was resting against he walked over to the female Autarii soldier and silently nodded to her taking the girl from her hands and setting her down on the ground, with her no longer dangling in the air Sinful kneeled down so that both of them would be at the same eye level and fixed a silent glare at the girl.

You are quite the energetic type, are you not, young urchin? Kids that exhibit such exuberance usually enjoy games of all pastimes. I too like to play games from time to time; most of them revolve around fire to be honest, though that is usually frowned upon as I am too old to be indulging in such activities far far too old… However, my favorite game simply captivates me and I usually can hardly resist the urge to play it. The game if you are wandering is very simple it revolves around me setting little brats on fire if they do not keep quiet once told and NOT setting them alight if they manage to go mute.

Glancing over his shoulder Sinful pointed at Syjahel to the urchin with his thumb

See that impressive looking maiden? She is a feisty noble that would look down on me if I were to suddenly start playing such a game in front of her and that would be most unpleasant. So I want to ask you nicely to try not to tempt me into playing it, will you, dear?

Sinful tilted his head to the side examining the girl as his slow monotonic hissing finally went silent and then added a sincere smile before showing her a few coins he pulled out of his pouch, something to anoint the deal if the girl will be cooperative.

Sinful will stay with the girl making sure that she no longer bothers anyone with her recurring tantrums. At first he will try and settle it in a calm diplomatic fashion, however, if she starts to get unruly again he will take matters to a more drastic level

OCC: I used the colours by the way to symbolize the importance of the post for my character without changing what he says. It was a onetime thing anyway, sry.

His little speech had not quite the effect Malus had expected. He would have loved to hand the task to the noble woman now, but Malus was not one to back away once he started something even if it was stupid. Even more important though, by not doing what he said his authority, honour (the dark elf version of it) and his leadership was questioned (not that he’d care about the last one), which was something he was not willing to give up that easily.
On the other hand letting the girl speak might not be such a bad idea. He hated them all! The noble for speaking out against him, sinful for not supporting him (he had counted on him especially as he was willing to give the girl to his torture) and the autarii for not leaving already! He had to take the charge in this as much as he hated it!

He shot one bolt in front of sinfuls feet (aiming maybe 1foot away for them)to make his point without interrupting the girl. If they would have just done what he said he wouldn’t have to do this! The gods take them all!

The next one will hit!

Reloading his crossbow he waited what the girl said before shooting more bolts.

As much as Sinfulblade enjoyed the comfortable connection he had with the little brat in front of him it was expectably cut short by the continued persistence of the silent shade. Slowly the teal elf looked down upon the bolt that struck between him and the small girl and shook his head in angry disbelief.

Unfortunately this moment is filled with irritating interruptions to our little plan

Pulling the girl to the side slightly Sinful took her to one of the many nearby crates {{OOC: hopefully there are boxes nearby}}, once there he took a good handful of her clothes and struck his dagger through them so that the girl would be pinned to the box and would not be able to try any foolish escape while he dealt with the matters at hand. Once the girl was firmly pinned to the box in the form of a few more insertions using his throwing knives Sinful stood up and grinned at the shade.

For your sake I hope you will be swift in taking back your words…

Slowly both the bastard sword and short sword left their scabbards and felt the cool breeze on their glimmering blades. The tall trainee held both weapons pointing downwards as he slowly took a step closer to the shade that fired upon him, his eyes watching as he fired a few more bolts near the feet of the other group members.

It is quite the opposite of being wise to draw weapons against a group that both outnumber you in skill and in the quality of their capabilities, quite the opposite of wise indeed.

Sinful tilted his head to the side as he observed the uneasy companion curiously yet with a good dash of unhidden amusement

Sinfulblade will take a few more steps closer to the where the shade stands, he is not attacking as is, but is very much ready to charge if everything will continue to escalate

"Gentlemen! We do not have time for these social niceties I fear." Seeing the escalation of the situation between the mercurial Khanite and the normally withdrawn Shade, Syjahel wanted to roll her eyes. But things were too crucial for making light of it now; time was running out, Sultra wasn't likely to be tolerant of failure and the last thing she needed was infighting, in the street, with a whole gallery of urchins looking on at the free entertainment. If it led to a brawl the whole affair would become impossibly undignified. She kept her voice firm but low, not rising to a shout, just enough to carry.

"Malus! Put aside your bow, if I can forebear from shooting Sinful I know you can do it. Khaine knows it's a temptation but if we do not make our way with haste then we will all doubtless have targets aplenty once the 'night shift' arrives to take the streets." She strode to stand between the two men, reaching down with her gauntleted hand to push aside the Shade's bow, She knew it was a risk, but only by decisive action was the issue going to be resolved. Stepping a little nearer to Malus she held his eyes and said in a low voice, "Master Autarii, I need your skills to finish this mission. The map shows we have to infiltrate through a wood and I will not be in my element there, and nor will he. Just as this is not yours. Now let me deal with this, and when the time comes I will happily bow to your talents and those of your fellow Shade. There's no shame in suiting the talents to the task in hand."

The nobleman's daughter turned back to Sinfulblade, acutely conscious of the drawn weapons on each side of her, the urgency of the situation and its knife-edge poise causing adrenaline to rocket through her system. It made her feel alive, as only being in the face of death could. She'd missed her battlefield days, but this was not the answer. Taking a deep breath, she said,

"Sinfulblade, I concur, this is not the time. I do not believe you will need to ... press your points further, however." The arrogant Druchii didn't really know self-doubt, so she elected to believe that the sense of her words and authority would carry enough weight with the Shade not to get his bolt through her neck.

"And in any case - you know that if anyone is going to shoot you, it will be me." With a half-smile to the tall teal Elf that could almost be seen as mildly flirtatious, the noblewoman turned to walk back to the bemused boy-thief and take a seat on one of the boxes, saying:

"Now, tell me what I've asked you, and quickly."

Supposing she manages to calm the situation, Syjahel will get her answers as quickly as she can from the child and taking all due precautions against it being a trap, she will let hm lead the way to the elusive way out. If it doesn't work and she gets attacked, she will defend herself in the melee, making best use of her shield and trying to get into cover.

[OOC: didn't want to assume too much either way, after all just because I want it to happen that's not the only factor! Hence not assuming she can just get her answers and go. Though if she does, that's great, let's go! :)

New player, excellent :) Hope to welcome them soon.]

OCC First of all I’d like to say I love the conflict at the moment and the rapid time the story is moving on!! And I’d love to welcome our new companions!

Malus was torn inside with every inch of his body he longed to kill the teal elf, tear him to pieces and bath in the screams of his pain! But on the other hand he was not stupid, he knew he already had gone too far and should back down now. Both sides pulled him with an irresistible force to obey. With the adrenalin rushing through his body he considered every action out of every perspective in incredible speed, not moving an inch but simply staring at his foe the crossbow aiming at his heart. Finally he found a solution with which both sides agreed.

Aiming carefully Malus fired his crossbow, unloading the cross bow in one fluent motion. He had aimed at Sinful’s leg, trying to score a stripe shoot. He did not look back however, hoping for a cry of pain he simply vanished in the labyrinth of houses which had before been to his back and said:

“This will satisfy my bloodlust, for now.”

Being out of line of sight Malus looked around trying to find more of those wicked children, moving around in the city.

OOC: Continued provocation can only go so far, I guess I have no alternative left but to act. Just a reaction summary so that Drainial can finally post and help the new guy in.

If the attacker misses or the hit is insignificant to hinder Sinful, he will immediately charge, trying to make the first few strides towards the shade in the way that Syjahel standing between them would hinder the shade’s capability to aim, before sprinting towards him and trying to use his acrobatic training to zigzag from possible continued fire and to get into close combat as soon as possible. Once there he will make the emphasis on attack rather than defense because of the obvious advantage he has in that field, especially since the shade has no close combat weapon drawn.
If the attacker hits and the scored wound is serious enough to hinder Sinful’s capability to charge or fight significantly he will resolve to simply hurling his remaining throwing knives in the direction of the fleeing shade, trying to hit him in the back to maximize the chances of a successful hit
