OOC: Staying in character is the most important thing in these threads, so good show. For some reason Sinfulblade and infighting tend to follow in each roleplay I attend, though naturally not always he’s the one to blame. Either way, an epic post would be nice, but with all the power in Drainial’s hands it might end either way or even end up rather fatal-less altogether.

Malus' uncharacteristic outburst appeared to have been met with little attention by the other members of the group, without the authority of continual leadership or a dominant, outgoing personality it seemed that all he had achieved was to help snap the others out of their infighting.

Khalea's advise, much like that of her fellow shade was not without merit but it to went without much attention, the two shades predictably sidelined in the point of view of Sinful and Syjahel. On that score things appeared to be looking up, far from daggers drawn an almost flirtatious air appeared to have replaced the deadly tension of but a few minutes before, even if Sinfulblade could not help but keep up his habitual stream of half veiled threats.

It was Syjahel’s stamp of approval that seemed to get the plan moving, with a few adjustments of her own. This could perhaps help to cement the authority she was trying to build over the rest of the group. It would hardly endear her to Malus, but then the shade had never been very assertive, surely he would accept such a compromise...

One part of Malus' plan was followed at least as Sinful relived Khalea's arms of the strain of holding up the little sinewy bundle and set the girl of the floor. Wide eyed the girl was not naive enough to believe that he really had the capability to set her on fire, but she was more than convinced that if their happened to be a bonfire around Sinful would not hesitate to hurl her onto it, and as she well knew there was more than one way to skin a cat, or a child.

Though frightened into dumbness she could not repress a violent flinch as a crossbow bolt slammed a few inches from her feet, Sinful merely sighed. Half carrying, half leading the little brat to a rotted hulk of a crate which (according to the label) was once used to transport live lobsters, he wasted no time in nailing her to the crate by the flimsy rags she wore. Perhaps she could have slipped those bonds, but the immediate threat of Sinful and the still watchful Khalea appeared to have cowed her for the moment.

Drawing himself back to his feet Sinful went to confront Malus, threats and banter were one thing, actually firing a weapon at someone who, like it or not, was supposed to be your ally was another matter entirely. Drawing his swords Sinful slowly bore down on the suddenly provocative shade, one last chance was offered to Malus, if he recanted bloodshed could certainly be avoided, but surely any authority he had in the group, any chance of leadership in any form would surely vanish.

Syjahel of course was somewhat against letting two of what she increasingly thought of as 'her' band of mercenaries play Kislivien roulette with a fully loaded hand bow. Stepping in once more she half attempted to negotiate, half to command the two to back away.

For a moment, as she stood between the two adrenaline pumped elves, it seemed that she had succeeded in stalling the violence at the very least. Turning back to the male urchin who was staring at the Khainite and shade with a look of wry humour leavened with a healthy dose of caution she once more demanded that he tell her what he knew.

Perhaps at another time she might have successfully calmed the two males down, perhaps with less proud, less aggressive elves she could have succeeded, but however much a leader she thought she was not even the vaunted politicking of the nobility of Naggaroth could hope to contain both the arrogance of the shade clans and the fury of the initiates of the temple at the same time.

It was intended as a parting shot in the truest sense, never much one for wordplay the shade resorted to what he knew best, and fired. It wasn't a deadly shot, it wasn't meant to kill or maim, just to assert that though he seemed to have lost this particular round Malus was most certainly not going to be pushed around. It didn't turn out that way.

Just as the thief opened his mouth to speak Malus sent a bolt streaking across the small gap between himself and Sinful. At this range no elf could have missed and the bolt did exactly what Malus had intended it to do, it grazed Sinful's thigh, tearing the heavy linen and scoring a deep bloody scratch down the Kainite’s leg.

What Malus had not counted on was the fury of a Khainite, he had seen the elf go bezerk before, now it seemed all too likely that he would get to experience it firsthand.

With a roar Sinful rushed forwards, if Malus had not already been retreating then he would doubtless have died in that first moment, before anyone could react. Luckily for him he was already moving backwards and that gave him just enough room to dance out of the ark of the bastard sword's swing. Scrambling backwards Malus could only defend himself, to be sure he had no room to fire nor time to draw his own blade. Blocking the downward swing of Sinful's bastard he hissed with pain as the Kainite’s short sword glanced over his ribs, reopening wounds he had taken at the hands of the mole men and adding a stripe of blood all its own.

Though Malus was no slouch in the fray it took no genius to see where the battle was headed, the blood mad Khainite was stronger, faster, better armed and utterly fearless. Unless something happened Malus would have died in moments.

That something arrived in the form of Ildren, all but forgotten in their feuds, mistrusted for his association with Sultra. Though he did not know the group well it was not in the warrior's nature to allow two people he was supposedly working alongside to carve one another into so many sides of meat, not to do the carving himself. Instead he rushed forwards and grabbed Sinful's arm just as he raised it for another powerful strike. The strength of the warrior from such an unexpected direction jerked Sinful around and gave Malus time to retreat a few steps.

Though rationally Sinful had no major quarrel with Ildren the warrior clearly had no experience of the red mist if he thought that that was going to save him, in his current state the Khainite would likely butcher his own sister if she attempted to prevent him from killing. Shaking Ildren's hand of with an angry yank he attacked once more.

Armed, armoured and ready Ildren may have been a match of Sinful, even in the state he was now in, but such was not the case. Though armoured Ildren had no blade drawn and his shield was still slung across his back. Moreover the warrior was completely taken aback by Sinful's shear ferocity. As the first blow descended Ildren attempted to ward it away with one arm, more out of instinct than any hope that it might help. Any such hope would have been misplaced, his finely wrought gauntlets split with an ear rending screech, joined by a deep bellow as the bastard blade left Ildren clutching a severed stump; he did not clutch it for long. Swords rose and fell and within seconds Ildren was silent upon the floor. None could say which of the many wounds had proved the fatal one, the corpse was far too much of a mess for that.

As Sinful changed targets Malus decided that following his original plan was not flight, simply prudence, with that thought he disappeared into the warren of houses, eyes alert for any sign of more urchins, or of any other bandits who might stalk the night.

In the alley Sinful stood over the butchered body of Ildren, his breath came in ragged gasps and slowly the red mist began to fade as he realised what he had done. He had never particularly cared for the elf, but it had never been his intent to kill him, but done was done and could not be undone.

For several seconds no body spoke or moved, as it became clear that Sinful was not immediately going to turn his wrath on the rest of the party however the boy, seemingly terrified and fascinated in equal measure by what he had seen piped up again. After seeing what this group would do to one another over disagreements he most certainly did not want to make them ask again.

"Err, well Miss, you see Miss. There are these tunnels under the city. Smugglers and that have been using them for years Miss but no one knew about 'em." Syjahel, though distracted by the spectacle of violence they had just witnessed snapped her attention back to the boy.
"Go on," she commanded
"Err, right Miss. Well I know how to get into 'em, and they go outside the walls. The guard don't know about 'em Miss. there he stopped, but he had only answered half the question. Withering visibly under her stare the boy went on.
Well, as to what she's scared of, well the tunnels ain't exactly ours. We only found out about 'em a few months ago when the doc moved in. he stopped again, perhaps hoping that this would be enough, it wasn't.
Well, he continued hastily the doc owns the tunnels see, and he lets us use 'em from time to time so long as we give 'im a bit of what we acquire. Girly thinks he won't like you lot going through the tunnels... well Ok he won't like you lot going through the tunnels, and he would skin us for it, but if we were with you... he trailed off, but the meaning was clear. Surely this 'doc' wouldn't bother with such a minor matter if it meant dealing with a bunch of hired killers.

Well that was interesting, and I hope the post didn't disappoint too much. Malus you are, as you intended to be out of sight of the party and looking around for anyone you might see, you have a nasty scratch and some of your wounds have reopened. It is nothing fatal but if I were you I wouldn't try anything particularly strenuous until it is patched up. Ildren is dead and cooling at Sinful's feet. Sinful himself has managed to snap out of his frenzy. Khalea, Syjahel and the boy are still standing where they were, the girl is still securely nailed to the crate.

The next deadline will be at 12 midnight 5th March.

Khalea slid back as sinful took the street urchin from her, moving to an unobtrusive spot as she waited to see what would happen. She was surprised at the fact that there was another fight so soon after the first one. She took the same stance she had taken with the last spat, and sat it out, watching as malus’ bolt landed in front of sinful and the teal elf put down the child. Syjahel jumped in between them, and Khalea wondered if it was bravery, stupidity, or a mixture of both. She settled on the last option as she watched the action unfold.

The bolt grazed Sinful’s leg and the tall elf charged, and it didn’t take a mind reader to realize that he was slipping into his frenzy. Khalea sighed to herself as he did so, then muttered one of her personal mantras to herself. Never shoot something unless you plan to kill it . She figured she could also add don’t piss off a trainee of khaine while he is in arms reach to her list.

Khalea brought her crossbow up, aiming at the giant elf in case he charged her. She wasn’t his focus of attention, and she had made herself as inconspicuous as possible, however she knew there was no certainties near a bezerking follower of Khaine. Fortunately, in his state of mind he never notice her. The same could not be said for Sultra’s man, and he moved forward to stop the tall elf. Khalea would have stopped the soldier if she had been closer, however she did nothing but watch and Sinful turned on the him and cut him down, hammering through the druchii’s defenses before he ever had a chance to set himself.

Khalea was not sad to see Sultra’s man die, as she had been planning on losing him as soon as possible. However, now they had a problem, as sinful had been a liability since the beginning and now he was getting even worse. So far he had killed one party member, drove off another and though he had bowed to Syjahels command Khalea did not think that was permanent.

As she saw Sinful calm himself Khalea stepped forward, they were down to three members, and possibly four if Malus returned and did not promptly kill or be killed by Sinful.

Well if your quite done butchering that corpse I would advise we get out of here. she said wryly, her crossbow still ready in her hands though pointing at nothing in particular. She nodded at the corpse if not, I am pretty sure I can see an eyeball there you could crush.

Khalea will proceed with what is fast becoming a tradition with this band of Druchii, looting the body of a former comrade. She doesn’t really expect to find anything, but she also is not one to waste possible free loot. Afterwards she will follow Syjahels order.

Malus was shocked to his core. He only started to realise how narrowly he had escaped death. Seeing the frenzied Sinful charging him and being unarmed himself was an experience he did not want to make again. He swore, the next time he would be prepared.

But now was not the time for that anyway, he had to lick his wounds before he could make his next move, what that would be he wasn’t sure yet. Looking around he made sure nobody was around, then leaning against the wall of one of the houses he patched himself up as good as he could. It was a good idea to get this stuff, he thought.

What the hell shall I do now? He had never intended to kill Sinful, but as he could not really see the berserk as a forgiving person this might be the only way for him to stay alive and this near death experience had again shown him why he needed to stay alive, he still had a propose to fulfil. Putting his feelings aside (he blamed them for bringing him in this trouble) he tried to figure out the best way to stay among the living for as long as possible. It looked like a living Sinfulblade would make this goal a lot harder to reach. The other option he had was to try and make peace with Sinful, and that was not goanna happen.

Then of course there was their mission to fulfil. Without that done he might as well let Sinful finish him off. The possibility of Sinful dying on a mission that required stealth wasn’t bad and with a bit of help certainly an option. How ironic it would be if the crazy elf would give his life and so with safe his from Sultra.

He knew that if he followed the group only the other shade could notice him and he hoped that she wouldn’t talk, for the sake of peace.
Malus will scout behind the party, looking out for enemies and hiding from Sinful while trying to stay on the path the others took, he has his stars ready.

The ferocity of the attack left the noble no time to be stunned; she simply got out of the way, choosing the cover of the crates and hoping to be out of the sight (and therefore thoughts) of the berserker. Belatedly, she thought of pulling the urchin in with her but was confident the brat knew how to keep out of the way. It was over in seconds: a brief, bloody slaughter, and Sultra's man was a cooling corpse at the feet of the blood-stained Trainee. The intemperate Shade had fled the scene, and Syjahel cursed. Malus was the silent type, all right; if he'd decided to strike off on his own she'd never hear anything of him again. What a waste of potential! But he'd shot one of Khaine's own chosen and that could only be settled in blood. A faint sigh: someone's blood, anyhow.

As the breathing of the blue Druchii eased and his hammering pulse slowed, she left him to calm and listened to the child's happily simple and to the point information. The tunnels. Mother of Night. The nobleman's daughter tried not to roll her eyes. She had hoped she'd seen the last of them. Had Sultra's mole-catching expedition really cleared them of all such filth?

No sense in showing any of that to the urchin. The one they were afraid of was likely some kind of criminal underworld leader, but if his talents were limited to frightening small children and the odd bit of clandestine 'trade' then she doubted they had so much to fear from him as from the undoubted strength of Sultra's vengeance. With a last look at Sinful she determined that Khaine no longer held him in thrall, so she took the chance to get the remaining members of the group moving. Hopefully.

Ildren was undoubtedly in the pay of Sultra, a sort of insurance policy against any of them deciding to exploit the situation with his precious lastborn. So if they had to explain how he came to wind up dead, what better place than the tunnels for an explanation? My dear Sultra, I can only suppose one of your moles proved lactose-intolerant. It would be as good a place as any to pretend the unfortunate stranger had met with a fatal accident. All those slashes could, in the end, be the work of almost anything sharp and bloody-minded. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Khalea industriously looting the corpse. The practical, waste-not ethos of the Hill Clans.

"Sinfulblade, when Khaine no longer smiles so bright upon you ... perhaps you might carry that corpse? If we leave it in the tunnels there will be no awkward questions. I'd suggest we lose no more time in getting under cover at any rate." She turned to Khalea, wishing to hear anything she might add. "Malus has gone - do you think it likely he will stay away? I am not so informed of the ways of Shades ... but I would guess we must do without him for now. If you would unpin the girl and bring her along?"

"Lead the way, boy."
She thought the urchin smart enough to understand threats still unspoken.

If there is no more discussion (that can't be carried out on the way), Syjahel will lead the way with the urchin as guide to the tunnels, taking care the brats don't try any funny stuff. She's short on patience and long on blades. Planning on losing the corpse somewhere ot can be blamed on mutants, or at least not discovered for a while, her next priority is to find the estate. She is concerned in case Malus plans to strike them from an unseen vantage point, but she remembers that he was prepared to sacrifice himself for them in the tunnel fight. Perhaps his honour will prevent him from trying for clandestine assassination ... at least of her and the Shade girl.

She hasn't any real confidence in what the tall teal berserker will do next, but he didn't strike for her in his frenzy and she believes this to be a good sign.

Khalea listened to Syjahels plan and agreed with it. She followed Syjahels lead, though she knew she was not going to be able to help carrying the body.

I was just going to say that he fell down the stairs she said, indicating the bloody corpse I guess your idea is better.

Khalea noticed that Malus had come back, and was hiding in the shadows watching the group. That was a good thing, as Khalea wanted the other shade back for several reasons. First of all, he was going to be a balancing force against the psychotic trainee. Secondly, they had only started off with five people, and now the number was down to three, if they could get the other shade back into the group then the number would bump back up to four. This gave her a one in four chance of being the next member of the group to die, rather than one in three. Lastly, she actually liked having the other Shade around, as he was quiet, unlike the other two members. Syjahel at least tried to not draw attention, but trying to sneak anywhere with sinful was going to be like killing a dragon with a crossbow. It might happen once in a century, but it wasn’t very likely.

Khalea now had to decide what to do with the knowledge she had. She knew for sure that she wasn’t going to tell the teal elf, but she needed to get the information to Syjahel so that the “esteemed leader” could figure out what to do with it. However she could not tell the druchii soldier while she was within earshot of the trainee, so Khalea bided her time, waiting until she got an opportunity to tell Syjahel. Khalea was patient, though she also realized that she may have to move soon, as if the tunnels were like the ones they had left the day before, then either Malus would lose the party, or he would have to move to close enough that he would risk discovery.

Khalea will wait and talk to Syjahel whenever she can get far enough sinful that there is no chance he will overhear.

Grinning Sinfulblade happily accepted Syjahel comment which had the ever so slight taint of flirtatious overtones.

That would be a possibility, I do agree. After all, I did see how skilful you were at aiming that thing at me before

Following the noble woman with his eyes as she walked away Sinful once again turned to the silent shade in front of him, eyes locked and the wry smile still on his lips Sinful bathed in the ambiance of the eerie silence that surrounded their intense stare-down. However, as moments passed Sinful was more and more confident that this little quarrel was settled with Malus backing down, it would have taken but a few more moments and Sinful would have walked away, but that was not destined to be.

In a completely unconventional manner the things escalated out of the blue as Malus fired his crossbow; the bolt flew true and did exactly what the shade intended it to do as it grazed the outer side of the teal elf’s thigh. Although this could have been foreseen with the amount of testosterone in the air, no one actually thought that Malus would snap and actually send the bolt towards Sinful.

Immediately the warm sensation of pain washed over Sinful and without him having a choice the red mist descended upon his frame from all sides. The powerful tug of Khaine warped the mind of the arrogant elf, smashing aside any boundaries of rationality that he had set up to keep himself in check, obliterating any limits, fears or uncertainties, brushing aside the mind and spirit and filling the blanks with the ecstatic feeling of utter power that washed over the trainee. Truly it was a gift, one had to submit to it, but once there, there were no limits, there were no rights or wrongs only the call of Khaine that led the way and gave ultimate pleasure in power.

Hissing a bloodthirsty roar the gaunt elf charged forwards, both blades going from different sides upwards to meet at the torso of the pompous shade, if the assailant had hesitated but a moment longer before retreating that would have been his demise, however, he was already sprinting away and the blades slashed through the air mere inches away from him. Turning to meet the attack Malus found himself in a dire situation as Sinfulblade attacked without pause or remorse, a mystery as to why so few of the hits actually glanced the shade. With each blow the attack only intensified and it was a mere question as to when the bastard sword would finally hit home and silence the upstart opposition of Sinful. That moment was finally nigh as Malus staggered slightly giving Sinful just enough time to raise his sword high in the air ready for the killing blow, the blow that never came…

A powerful yank sent Sinful backwards and made the elf wail in furry as he saw his target sprint away. Turning to see who it was Sinful was confronted with the sight of a large armored figure holding his sword arm in a vice like grip. The vision of the trainee was clouded and disrupted because of the berserk fury he was in, he couldn’t clearly make out shapes of forms, people or obstacles as everything seemed to be awash in crimson tides of red, only when opposition arised or a target presented itself it would form up into a brilliant white form, somewhat giving light to the correct target the trainee was focused upon. Now the target was the snow white statuesque form of Ildren that defiantly towered over Sinful.

As fearsome as Sultra‘s man looked, once under the spell of the Murder god himself fear is non existent and backing down not an option that ever presents itself. If the shade ran away, than the one in front of him would now have to pay his price. With a loud hiss Sinfulblade pulled his hand away from the man’s grip and slashed upwards with his other hand in one fluid motion. The first blow only forced Ildren back, however the second one separated his hand from the rest of the arm, this being only a teaser as to what happened next.

It seemed like a split second, but in reality the time Sinful took slashing aside the large elf was obviously longer. Swords rose and fell, the elegant yet deadly blades of Druchii steel made short work of any and all armor and finally Ildren lay at the feet of Sinful in a unrecognizable heap, this sight finally sating the lust for blood and slowly but surely the red veil started to lift.

Breathing in raged gasps Sinful stood there watching the bloodied remains of Sultra’s man by his feet, uncharacteristically unhappy with the bloodshed as he sank both of his swords into the corpse and looked around with narrowed eyes.

This is not the end

Whispering to no one in particular the teal elf finally resided to his calmer state of mind and retracted the blades watching with interest as Khalea approached. He took note of the bravery she showed by getting close to him without holding her weapon aimed directly up at him and even having enough sting as to throw a remark his way

Why certainly. I would not want to make your fine art of looting any messier than it already is

Bowing slightly he looked over the corpse once more and casually stabbed in the general direction of the eyes of the late warrior. Not long before the he stood up straight again he was confronted with a command, yet a rather subtle one of Syjahel to carry the dead body down into the tunnels.

As much as I would prefer to flex my muscles in front of you once again, mind you, I doubt you wouldn’t enjoy that too, I must say that carrying it around might not be the best way of drawing as little attention to ourselves as we can… Since you so enjoy being the leader and I so enjoy being a royal thorn in your lower regions, let me be a little bit more creative with this assignment

With that Sinful glanced over the body once more and in one powerful slice decapitated Sultra’s man. Once done he waited for Khelea to finish up and rolled the headless body onto his shoulder walking over to the crate he had pinned the girl to. Cranking it open he pushed the corpse inside and smiled leaning down at the girl.

I am terribly sorry for the sight you had to endure little one, but for all that trouble I give you a present, something that’s both uniquely beautiful and could be used to deter any “docs” from ever pushing you around

Unpinning the girl Sinful motioned towards the head rolling around in the pool of blood a few feet away from them.

Keeping a wary eye and a ready aim on Sinful Khalea walked up past the rapidly calming Khainite and began to look for anything of value, there was not much left. All of the armour was in shreds and was in any case far too large and cumbersome for the lithe shade, nor had the warrior carried money or any more unusual objects of value, even the shield slung across his back was gauged and scared from Sinful's blades. In all the ruination only the sword remained untarnished, unbuckling the sword belt Khalea settled the long sword on her own hip before turning her attention back to the group at large.

It took a few seconds but she soon spotted Malus skulking in the shadows of an adjoining alley, she found him so easily that she could only conclude he wanted her to see him, or at least was not overly concerned that she should do so. Luckily the city dwellers were oblivious to the blatantly obvious, as per usual, though that did leave the shade with the tricky task of communicating this news to Syjahel without alerting the blood hungry and likely vengeful Khainite in their midst.

By the time Ildren had hit the floor Malus was already out of sight, with the near infallible memory of terrain that was so characteristic of the shade clans he soon found a relatively safe location to set himself straight. Fishing into his pack he fished out some of the bandages he had wrangled from the shop and set about fixing up the worst of the damage. The shade was used to attending to his own needs and though this was far from an ideal situation he managed a rough and ready job that should at least see him through until he had the leisure to do it properly.

That done he considered his next move, clearly returning to the group was out with Sinful still prowling around thinking and doing the gods only knew what; at the same time he could hardly simply pack up and leave, a mercenary with a reputation for running out on missions would never work again even if he survived the wrath of his employer. With that in mind he resolved to do the only thing he could and follow the rest of the group at a distance while he thought things over.

The urban environment was alien to Malus, even so the others in the group were no more familiar with this part of Vikrha and they did not have the instinct for stealth that only a life time amongst the shades could hammer home. Finding them was pathetically easy, they had not moved after all and he simply had to find another route into the alley than the one they had used before. The way Khalea reacted when she glanced at the narrow shadowed overhanging he was lurking under told him that she at least knew where he was, that was a chance he had had to take, and it appeared to have paid off as she did not alert the city bred folk. From where he hid Malus could easily hear what the others were saying.

Syjahel was, as usual, attempting to take the lead, suggesting that they carry to body to the tunnels in order to dispose of it there, though this idea met with Khalea's approval it was Sinful who took action, instead of lugging the body through the narrow alleys and streets he simply hacked off the head of their former comrade and stuffed the corpse into the lobster crate. There could be little doubt that it would be found come morning, but without a head identification would be difficult and the city watch were not known for their diligence when it came to back alley murders of two bit mercenaries and thieves.

Of course that still left the question as to what they were going to do with the head, in one of his more whimsical moments the seemingly deranged Khainite offered the grisly trophy to the little girl they had captured. Terrified the girl did as she was told, picking up the heavy head by the hair with a mixture of disgust and morbid fascination. It was not as if this was the first time the urchin's had seen death, but Sinful went beyond the common thugs they were used to in the same way that a racing chariot went beyond a horse and cart, less reliable perhaps, but far more frightening and enthralling at the same time.

Although Sinful's antics had rather stolen the show the boy was still under no illusions about the dangers involved in nay saying Syjahel; the disposal of the body had been taken out of her hands by Sinfulblade's unilateral action but she was still keen to press forward, keeping a close eye on the child Syjahel followed the boy, the rest of the group following in her wake while Malus trailed behind, flitting from shadow to shadow.

The urchin led them through a long series of winding streets, on occasion they almost seemed to double back on themselves, perhaps the boy was attempting to make it harder for them to find their way to the tunnels on their own should any of them try to do so at a later date, or perhaps it was due simply to the confused and seemingly contradictory architecture that appealed to so many Druchii city planners.

In any event they moved away from the walls and into a warren of streets dominated by high rise housing, each tower at least ten stories high and built to accommodate the poorest of society. They had been walking for perhaps a quarter of an hour when the boy veered off down a side street and stopped outside a solid looking door. The child knocked eight times, the pattern seemingly significant, and a slit in the door opened and a mean pair of eyes looked out.
Who are you and what do you want? it was a woman’s voice, roughly accented, like a dock worker from Klarond Kar, and not at all friendly.

Ok then Malus is more or less patched up, but he is still wounded and stiff, he is following the party at a distance of about 20 feet or so, unknown at this stage by all but Khalea. The body is in the crate (for the sake of simplicity I assumed Syjahel doesn't insist on dragging the body back out of the crate and lugging it along, sorry if that was too presumptive) while the girl has the head and is still with the group. Khalea now has a longsword.

Sinfulblade's solution to the problem was fitting enough, so she gave it little more thought. As a girl she'd often been taken to see the temple rites of Khaine; indeed for a time, she'd wanted to become one of the "pretty ladies" herself, but her father's counsel had prevailed upon the twelve year old child who'd been quick enough to find other, more political ambitions. Syjahel had little time to spend in reminiscence, however much she might once have been the age of the girl now trotting along beside with what was obviously her first severed head; there was work to do, and even less time now to do it.

The boy lead the way through the insalubrious streets and the noble instinctively kept a wary eye on their surroundings as the gloom deepened. The journey was probably not that long, but she felt that she was being watched. Shaking her head, she dismissed it as the paranoia the ruling classes are heir to and kept her eyes on the door as it was answered. She'd wanted to speak to Khalea; the quiet Shade seemed to have something on her mind, and she would in any case be the better judge of where Malus had gone, but the Autarii seemed to keep her silence.

The door was opened to a careful pattern of knocks (which Syjahel tried to memorise), and the distrustful face of a woman, or at least a pair of eyes, showed to the world. There was a brief pause, while the noblewoman weighed her options. The child had got them here, but she probably wasn't going to arrange introductions.

"My name is Syjahel Vasht and I wish passage through the tunnels. My companions and I will of course see that you are suitably rewarded." She kept her voice low, so that only the immediate group could hear. It wasn't original, but she wanted badly to get out of the street.

[OOC: That's fine, all she wants is the body gone, so Sinful's suggestion is as good as any.]

Grinning Sinfulblade acknowledged the slight look of disgust that crossed the face of the urchin he had presented the severed head to. Admirably he did see a sparkle of fascination slowly creep over the disgust that took a back seat as the girl got used to the weight of the head in her hand.

Tis’ may be a grisly trophy to lug around; I do understand that, my mind is yet not corroded to such a level. However, you must find beauty in the most sinister of visages, for that too is how the many faces of Khaine look. Be this not a head you claimed, but carry it proudly and feel the fiery power it emits as you show of the death face of someone that has wronged you

As the group finally stopped at the door and Syjahel was confronted by the old hag guarding their passage Sinful leaned down by the girl and tilted his head to the side examining her. No emotion was present in his usually flamboyant face, he was calm and calculated even as he dipped hi fingers into the still dripping patch of hacked flesh where the neck of Ildren should have met his head. The bloodstained fingers quickly rose and slowly traced two runes on both cheeks of the little girl.

These runes shall be a present from me, a present that is bathed in duality. Firstly, it grants you full responsibility for the kill, if that doc knows anything of the ways of the temple he will recognize that you are not someone that is to be trifled with, the second rune grants vigilance upon you, vigilance that you will need

Glancing around him Sinful leaned an inch closer to the girl and continued in a hushed whisper
I’ll take care of you for as long as we journey together, but you must promise me to return the favor. This head is not the one I want or need, you’ve seen the perpetrator that caused me to shed blood, if you see him again tell me or kill him, either way the end result will be the same and both of us shall have a head to carry around

Sinful will just stay with the girl trying to keep the macabre relation they now hold and in a way form a mock protégé out of her

Khalea listened to the teal elf’s retort and couldn’t help but smile.

Waste not, want not Khalea replied, picking the former soldiers weapon up. It was the only thing in the bloody mess that was still useful. She added the long sword to her collection, if it was wise. As it was she was carrying a large arsenal of weapons on her, and another sword might just weight her down. However the sword was of good quality and Khalea didn’t wasn’t to waste it. As it was, she figured she would just put her old short sword away into her pack and use this long sword. The balance was better, and it was made of better metal than her short sword.

Unfortunately it seemed like Khalea wouldn’t be able to speak with Syjahel in private so she just hoped that Malus could keep up and make it out of the city. Once out of the city Khalea was confident of her ability to slip out from the group and meet with the other shade personally. However in the city she did not want to split from the party as the urchins had already proved that she was not the most skilled elf around.

Another problem for her plan cropped up when sinful seemed to be getting smart and threatened the urchin to keep an eye out for Malus. He also made it clear what he planned on happening if he ever caught the shade. Well, if it was simple then a human could do it, she thought.

Khalea will wait and see what happens. She knows where Malus is and for the time will try to inconspicuously keep the urchin from being able to spot him.

The door keeper was hardly friendly, but they had come too far to be deterred by such a thing. Gathering her demeanour of blithe confidence bred by a hundred intrigue ridden society balls Syjahel stepped forwards and announced her intentions plainly, they did not know enough to try anything more subtle.

Eschewing practical concerns meanwhile Sinful, in his own special blend of whimsy and blood lust, turned his attention to the girl child. Many mistook the followers of Khaine for simple brutes, mad fanatics caring only for slaughter, those members who lived outside of the temple proper did not escape such a diagnosis. In all the rage and the passion dogma and theology were often swamped, but those things were as much a part of the temple as the black blades and shackled bounties. Bending down Sinful played out a ritual older than any human kingdom, a rite of passage that he himself had gone through many years ago. It was a joke of course, this urchin would never be a miabed nor a cleric or executioner, none the less she shivered under his touch, and not only from the fear. For one born into destitution even the brief illusion of exotic grandeur was something that would not soon be forgotten.

Khalea followed silently, making sure to keep track of Malus as best she could, though from time to time she lost him in the shadows as she was unable to make her search too obvious. Stopping outside the door she waited for the response to Syjahel's challenge.

"Tunnels, I don't know what you are talking about." the voice said. As the slit began to close the boy child spoke up
"Wait! Eva it’s me! the slit slid back open, then they heard a click as another bolt was drawn and a larger section of the door opened outwards, just big enough for a female face to poke out. She did not look very old, though certainly an adult, but her face was marred by two grim scars angling down her cheeks. In all probability those were the only things which had saved her from a life of prostitution, beneath the scars it was plain to see that she would have been a beauty.

That was hardly the first concern of the mercenaries however, they were far more interested in getting in the door.
"Imi? Why so early? You're supposed to be out till dawn. she seemed surprised rather than angry, which was a good sign.
I know, but I ran into these... friends of mine." he said, gesturing towards the group "I thought the doc might not mind a few more," The woman nodded
"Alright then, we can do it this way just this once; but don't make a habit of this Imi, The boy just grinned.

Eva withdrew her face and shut the gap, bolting it once more. For a worrying few moments it seemed that she might not let them in after all, but it was not long before the rattle of bolts and locks reassured them. The door swung open and all five of them trooped inside.

It was a tiny room, perhaps ten feet wide, no more than that broad and it was a squeeze for everyone to find a place to stand while still keeping a wary eye on one another’s weapons. The place was almost entirely bare, just a simple stool squeezed into the corner nearest to the door by way of furniture and a large heavy rug on the floor. Walking over to it Eva picked up one end and dragged the rug away unveiling a trap door.
"Down you go, Imi can show you the way." she said.

Khalea opened the trap door, it was not locked, and looked down. It lead to a steep staircase of new cut timbers. The room below appeared to be well lighten, but the angle of the staircase prevented them from seeing anything bellow.

On their guards' but with little other option the three mercenaries trooped on down, herding the children with them. The stairway was not long, certainly not as long as the aching climb in Sultra's tower, and they were soon confronted by another door. This one was not locked and Imi led them through.

They emerged into a well lighten chamber far larger than the one above. It appeared to be a natural cavern, but it had clearly been altered and enlarge for Druchii use. Inside there were several people, both male and female, dressed in workman's clothes. Some were sitting around a table with cards in their hands, others were standing around the room talking. When the mercenaries entered everyone stopped to look at them.

There was however one slightly unusual feature. Around the walls, stacked three high, were dozens of steel wrought cages, each five feet high and each with an occupant. The things within were a disturbing sight. It was clear that they had been elves once for some were in the early stages of transformation while others were almost complete. Each of the mercenaries recognised them at once, mole men, without a shadow of a doubt. All of the things in the cages were a long way gone, though some still had fair skin and pointed ears it was clear enough what they were becoming. All that is apart from one, high on the topmost layer there was one elf who was clearly just that, a weather-beaten sea dog with rage dancing behind his eyes, silenced by a rough gag tied around his mouth.

"Ha ha ha, a few new volunteers is it boy," the largest of the elves said, getting to his feet and placing his hand of cards on the table. He was soon joined by the rest of the gang, eight in all. From under the table or their broad belts each pulled out long knotted cudgels
"Just put down your weapons and come quietly, no need for any fuss, he said, slowly the whole mob began to advance, step by step.
_______________________________________________________________________

Outside meanwhile Malus was at something of a loss, he had seen the group disappear into the doorway while he himself was unable to approach for fear of Sinfulblades' reaction. While he was pondering his next course of action he heard a faint shuffle behind him, turning he was just in time to dodge out of the path of a stout truncheon aimed squarely at the back of his skull. In the darkness he could see no one else, just one thuggish robber and one desperate and wounded shade. He would have to do something.

Alright then, you are all now inside a large room (and I do mean large, think village hall sized). There is a wooden table with chairs near the centre and cages stacked against every wall each with a mole man in transformation locked inside. There is one elf that has not yet begun to change on the top tier. The only visible ways out are the door you came in by and a trapdoor under the table. There are eight thugs bearing down on you all un armoured.

Malus, is facing one thug. Darkdoom, further lack of posting will result in unpleasantness, I don't like leaving the rest of the group waiting for this long.

OOC: Just saying hi to all my new groupies, and congratulating you on joining up with the most unstable elf in Vikarh this side of Sinful (or maybe more so, we'll see) :P

IC: Dareth was thinking about death. This wasn't all that unusual for him, it seemed a subject that preoccupied much of his thought. And not any deep philosophical truths either, more the many ways in which he could inflict it and the myriad of wonderous shades of crimson in the blood (the actual victim in question was entirely beside the point). Blood. That was the real subject of his facination. The thought of it calmed him in a strange way. Not true calm, but a sort of peaceful, contented rage that was his center in a way, after all he had been through.

Noise in the wider room snapped him out of his reverie, and as his eyes fell again on those who had caged him like an animal and denied him his most basic pleasures, his hate became crisp, clear, and overwhelming once again. He was only more irritated when this disturbance also thrust to the forefront his splitting headache. He hadn't been this long with out a drink for as long as he could remember. He was dimly aware that there were three new commers, mercenaries by the look, but there identity mattered little. What did matter is their presense gave him an idea. They looked like they could fight. If they could fight they could free him. If they fought, there would be blood...

He tried to say something, but only a muffled grunt escaped his gag. This may seem like an inconsequential thing, but even to a sane elf he would have been the straw that broke the cold one's back so to speak. And Dareth was hardly what one would call sane. This little thing hit him like a physical blow, and his rage, hatred, and a more primal desire to kill, to redecorate this room with blood and entrails, which had filled him before, balooned out and consumed him. Desperate to get out, to be free, to kill, He thrashed about in his cage like a lunatic, howling at the top of his lungs (though it likly sounded much more subdued through the gag). The small and dwindling part of him that was still capable of rational thought was trying to tip over his cage, knocking it to the ground. If nothing else, it would help get these newcomers attention focused on him, and possibly just bust it open. Of course, the greater part of him was just content with thrashing and yelling, the only imediately available outlet for a frothing rage that had to escape somehow.

OCC: Sry.

IC: Once again only the sharp senses of a Shade had saved him, the attack coming out of nothing could have otherwise killed him in his weakened state. Looking on the filthy thief who had dared to interrupt his thoughts Malus came up with the perfect punishment.

Twisting his face to not at least pleasant smile he said in a honourably thankful voice:
”Thank you stranger, thanks to you I’ll know have a chance to test out my new toys. I longed for a while to use them. Feel honoured; you will be the first person to die through my new stars.”
Saying this his rending stars out of his cloak, aimed and threw 3 at his new guest. (As I understood he is standing pretty close so I hope this will work).

I have been around Sinfulblade to long; I even start playing with my food now. Well, just one more reason to kill him, I guess, as if I wouldn’t have enough already!!!

OCC: Welcome to a new blood longing maniac!

“Well isn’t this typical” Khalea snarled as she brought up her crossbow. She had already taken the weapon out, thanks to Sinfulblade’s antics earlier. Now she looked out at the rushing elves and the prisoner and he caught her eye. He was trying to break free, shaking the cage and Khalea figured that he was a possible ally. However, if he managed to tip the cage over and fall, likely he wouldn’t be capable of fighting, or at least so Khalea thought.

However Khalea had far more pressing concerns at the moment. There was eight enemies advancing upon her and her companions and she did not like the odds.
“You think you can cover me while I go get our friend up there?” she asked Sinful and Syjahel, her head nodding toward the shaking cage as a plan formed in her mind.

Khalea did not wait for a response as she dropped to one knee to brace herself while taking aim at the seeming leader of the elves facing them. She fired a single shot at him torso, then proceeded to unload the crossbow as fast as she could, hoping that with the number of targets spread out before them she would get a couple its.

Khalea will continue to fire at the enemy while waiting to hear her teammate’s plans. Once out of ammo she will switch to her longsword and fight with that. If her teammates (i.e. Syjahel, since sinful is likely just going to go into frenzy) cover her she will attempt to rush up to and break the Dareth out. However if there is not a good opportunity to break through she will fight with Sinful and Syjahel, hoping that armor and cold steel beat numbers.

The mole men are in cages, the people who are comming at you are elves- Drainial.

A brow forming on Sinfulblade’s teal face showed off quite well the amazement he felt once he entered the large well light cavern. It wasn’t decorated to fit a kind, mind you, but the size and well planned out structure of the hideout did impress. He still wasn’t sure why the molemen were there, but suffice to say he had a good hunch as he was presented with a plethora of re-evolutionary segments in the form of transforming elves, starting from the still capable Dareth and ending with the hideous beasts that he and rest had already encountered earlier; all presented in fitting cages.

Is this not the most unexpected of turn arounds…No rest for the wicked they say

Unceremoniously dumping the girl, he carried down the stairs before, Sinful hissed glaring down at her

A heads-up is a rather simple concept is it not? Or do you actually think that aligning yourself with them is a move that would be smart to make?

Slowly the teal elf brought his weapons to bear and slowly raised them to point at the approaching thugs. He stood his ground calmly cracking his neck more for stylistic purposes than anything else before he slowly started to walk in their general direction. As long as he managed to keep himself calm he acted cool and didn’t charge out in the open; resorting to a slow advance taking his time to examine how the opposition was armed and how well were they prepared. After all, a group of lowlife smugglers were not as dangerous as a group of corsairs trying to make some extra coin.

I do sense a misunderstanding lurking in this room, an insignificant one, but if you pressure me, one that can end up rather bloody. After all, where are you manners? Guests should hardly be treated like that

Sinful will try to slow himself down and examine the men he is facing before resorting to anything harsh, he will step closer to the thugs than Khalea, but will not charge off into the open or the time being

Syjahel took in the situation in the room with equal parts surprise and resignation. It wasn't that the molemen were expected - she could never have guessed at the horror that was unfolding here, inflicted upon once-Elven forms - but she had always known that the seeming safety of the offer of passage would be an illusion. It was just that the precise nature of the trap had thrown the noblewoman somewhat. With a hiss of revulsion she levelled her drawn sword and brought up her shield, determined to stand shoulder to shoulder with Sinfulblade - for as long as the teal Khainite was calm enough to remain orderly. To his credit, he seemed to be holding himself in check.

A quick glance around, and she could see that one, at least, had so far escaped the transforming effects and he was clearly quite mad about his position in the stack of cages. A Druchii, a potential ally at that (so long as the fight lasted). It made good sense to the highborn to free him if she could, and she was about to try to work around the advancing crowd when Khalea volunteered for the duty. It would be wise to let the quick Shade do the work, while she covered her with her shield and more heavily armoured form. So, shouldering the as yet untested replacement, she prepared to meet the charge.

It had occurred to her that she could try negotiating with their would-be captors, but the thoughts of diplomacy and intrigue had flown at the sight of the pile of cages. All arrogance aside, she thought knew when a mob intended to attack and when they could be swayed - they hadn't money enough to bribe this lot, not if their employer could turn them into so many monsters in as much time as it takes to cry carnival.

Syjahel will stand fast beside Sinful until such time as the oncoming group attack, then she will attempt to block as much as she can while using her swrord to good effect - while killing blows are good, what matters to her are taking as many opponents out of the fight as possible, so she will want to disable as many as she can from striking back - the fewer attacks, the less chance of her death. Hopefully. If she gets the chance she'll cover for Khalea so that she can free the caged Druchii, letting her know she's doing it however she can. If Sinful does hit frenzy, she's giving him space to do what he does best. If by some chance the oncomers do decide to talk, she'll listen, as he seems to be keeping it together for now.

Dumping the girl child on the floor Sinful quickly turned his attention toward the advancing thugs as she scampered off, no matter who won the fight it seemed unlikely that she would be welcomed by the victor. To all appearances she had betrayed both. In his usual manner Sinful attempted a, somewhat abrasive, form of diplomacy before losing himself in the fury of his blades.

Above Dareth was far less restrained than the Khainite, being caged for two days with nothing to drink but muddied water had done nothing to improve his already somewhat short temper and the unexpected possibility of help was a little more than his mind could bare. Thrashing like a shark caught in a fisherman’s net his feet hammered at the bars, the cage began to rock, first one way, and then the other.

The mercenaries were keeping their heads, at least for the moment, and Khalea was chosen as the best choice to try and free the trapped elf, first however she knew that they would have to try and level the playing field. These elves did not look like particularly hardened veterans but there was no such thing as an untrained elf in Naggaroth and they were sorely outnumbered.

Syjahel also appeared to realise this, knowing that they would have to fight as a team as best they could if they were to come out on top. With that in mind she edged a little closer to Sinfulblade, shield raised to meet any oncoming attack.

The mob approached slowly, unfortunately they seemed in no mood to strike deals with elves who they saw as easy meat. The leader of the thugs appeared to be about to speak when Khalea concluded the issue. Kneeling she levelled her repeater at the elf and pulled the trigger; it was hardly a shot she could have missed, the elf fell to his knees with a startled grunt, before falling on his face hiding the quarrel buried to the fletching in his chest.

This seemed to act as a trigger. It now seemed to penetrate the somewhat addled minds of the thugs that these were no shop keepers ambushed down an alley but fully armed mercenaries faced head on. The only options were to flee or to charge, they chose the latter. With a howl the remaining seven rushed forwards.

Strafing the onrushing mob Khalea fired as quickly as she was able, the shade was rewarded by a gasp of pain as one of her bolts plunged into the thigh of the foremost attacker causing him to fall to one knee grasping at the wound in agony.

Unfortunately for Khalea the thugs were too close for her to do more with the bow alone. Two of the elves came rushing at her, their cudgels held high, standing the shade was able to dodge out of the way of their charge and drive the but of her repeater into the stomach of one giving her time enough to draw her long sword.

The rest of the elves rushed at Syjahel and Sinfulblade. Syjahel engaged in her usual manner, pragmatic to the last. Taking several blows on her shiny new shield she lashed out in return slicing into the sword arm of one of her opponents causing him to yelp and fall back, wary now the remaining attacker fought cautiously, on the defensive Syjahel was unable to land a telling blow.

Sinful meanwhile was accosted by two more of the thugs, though he had been attempting to hold it at bay as best he could as the first cudgel narrowly avoided crushing his skull he snapped. Never the most stable of elves for the second time in under an hour the red mist fell and with a howl to frighten daemons he attacked, unprepared for this manic assault the un armoured elves scarcely stood a chance, the first managed to parry a couple of strikes, but she was simply outclassed by the frenzied Khainite and with a sickening crack Sinful's bastard sword split open her rib cage. The second was more fortunate, he was standing further away; rather than face this mad fiend he ran, fleeing towards a wall seeming no different from the others. However when he reached the stack of cages he grasped the bars and heaved, pulling open a large door to which one row of cages appeared to be attached and disappeared through.

Above their heads Dareth continued his thrashing through the combat, with a final heave the former corsair sent the cage toppling off of edge, and himself with it. It was a long fall, the impact knocked the wind straight out of the madcap elf, but the cage fared little better. By lucky hap the cage had struck the ground on the side that bore the lock before rolling across the ground, buckling the metal.

Though bruised and winded and with a possible few cracked ribs Dareth did not stop, in his frenzy it was doubtful whether he could have done so had he wanted to. Kicking out wildly his foot eventually found the weakened lock. With a screeching crack the lock burst open and the cage door with it, scrambling to his feet Dareth leapt up and stood straight for the first time in days. Unfortunately though he was free of the cage he remained weapon less, for they had taken his gear away from him.

At the moment though that hardly seemed to be a problem, the thugs had clearly bitten off more than they could chew and even the shade was holding her own at close quarters.

Just as Dareth burst from his cage however the secret door opened once more, no flood of guards arrived, just one elf, dressed in white robes emblazoned with the same rune they had last seen above the healers door way. At seeing the state of the fight he let out an undignified yelp. Digging into his capacious pockets the elf, presumably the 'doc’, of which they had heard tell, fished out a handful of glass vials containing oddly luminescent liquids.

Hurling the first of the vials at Sinfulblade the doc missed, spraying the floor with pink goo, where the liquid hit the very stone began to hiss and melt, within moments the rock was no longer simply rock but slippery flesh, with long grasping tentacles around a sucking, gasping maw wide enough to swallow an elf whole.

Cursing loudly at his poor aim the doc tried again, pitching a bright blue vial towards Khalea. Luckily for the shade however she was hotly engaged, instead of the embattled shade the vial shattered over the back of one of her opponents. Just as the stone floor had done the elf's flesh began to hiss. Screaming in agony the thug began to change; thick blue fur sprouted from every part of his body, muscles bulged, bones snapped and realigned. His one handsome face became snout like, his eyes appearing to shrink as his head grew larger alongside his newly grown body. Fangs shot down from his upper jaw while the lower remained disturbingly elven, which was more than could be said for his hands as long ivory claws sprang from his fingertips in a welter of blood.

At this the elf paused, he seemed to have had an idea for instead of throwing the next vial at one of the mercenaries he hurled it towards one of his own wounded guards. The green vial struck the thug wounded by Khalea's shooting at the very beginning of the fight, on the top of the head. Mewling like a newborn the elf began to claw at his head, only to pull away his hands in horror as they began to spout feathers. Much the same out be said for the rest of his body as his clothes began to bulge outwards due to the downy layer of green swiftly covering him from head to foot. As the other had before him the bird thing began to grow, just as a ferocious beak tore his face in two. Finally the elf’s clothes split entirely as great wings unfurled from its back and it turned hissing towards its tormenters, a bolt still buried in its leg.

_______________________________________________________________________

Outside Malus reached inside his clothes to produce some of his brand new throwing stars. The first left his hand before the thug could react and took him in the side of the face, ruining one eye, as the thug stepped backward, clutching at his head a second hammered into his hand followed by another in his throat. Malus could scarcely repress a smile as his new toys worked better than he could have hoped for, but that still left him with the problem of how to get inside the door.

He was still pondering this as a large heavy black jack was brought down on the back of his neck, collapsing to the floor Malus could not help but wish for the woodlands, where he did the ambushing rather than the other way around. As he fell into unconsciousness the last thing he remembered as being picked up and carried away.

When Malus woke it was to the sounds of battle and new pain, opening his eyes he realised that whoever had kidnapped him had dropped his burden leaving the shade face down on the floor. As his fogged mind cleared he quickly realised that this was not a safe place for a nap and leapt to his feet only to be greeted by a strange sight, a large room housing dozens of steel cages along the walls in which his supposed companions were faced by monsters both strange and terrible. The elf who had carried him in seemed to have decided that discretion was the better part of the valour and had run away screaming like a little girl leaving Malus alone and still fully armed, if in a somewhat precarious position.

Right, quite allot going on there. Out of the original group of eight thugs two are dead, one ran away, one has been wounded and two have been turned into monsters. The tentacle thing in the floor is near to Sinful and Syjahel with a reach of about two meters on all sides and there are still two thugs there as well (one wounded). Khalea is now next to one of the thugs and one of the monsters. The bird monster is in the middle between the two groups with the doc on the other side of the room.

Malus has been kidnapped and dumped in the main room, but the elf who carried him in has fled.

Dareth is now free of his cage but is currently unarmed.

I think that is everything, the next deadline will be at 12 midnight 26th march.

IC: As Dareth thrashed about, the cage wobbled back and forth and eventually toppled off the stack. It hit the floor hard, and dareth with it. He probably hurt like hell after that impact, but in his rage he could hardly notice this, especially dulled (somewhat) as it must have been by the sheer levels of his adrenaline. when the cage stopped rolling, he lashed out with his legs at the now mangled door, lock completely smashed. After knocking it off his hinges, he crawled out, finally free again.

And now that he was, there was killing to do. Weapon or no, he looked around and settled on a target, the elf with a bolt in his leg. Before he could attack however, the sound of a door opening caught his attention. Fear is a strange and powerful emotion, and its icy grip cut through his frenzy somewhat when he saw who came through the door, leaving him standing there staring. And rightly so, as he had seen what this "Doc" had done to the other prisoners. The elf began throwing vials of mutating goo, at first trying to hit the attackers, then throwing one at one of his own men. He briefly began to wonder what wonderous shades the mutants blood may have turned, when he pulled himself back to the present. He felt his rage rising again, and while he still had some sense of himself the rational part of his brain knew that it would not be good if this madman was allowed to make more monsters and pointed himself at the doc. As the primal part of him saw the doc as a symbol of his tormentors and thus wanted to throttle him with his own entrails, it had no objections to this plan. His last rational thought was to see if he could grab some sort of weapon dropped by a dead, fleeing, or mutated thug. Then the rage finally beat back the fear, if anything feeding off of it and growing stronger, and consumed him again.

Although the fear at the sight of the doc had briefly stemmed the tide of his frenzy, Dareth is now once again in its grasp, and charging what the doc in an attempt to catch him unawares and kill him, whether he was successful in finding a weapon or not. Still under the throws of his frenzy, and his only brief moment of clarity focused on the doc, he has completely ignored the mercenaries.

Shaking of his drowsiness Malus tried to evaluate the situation. His companions Sinfulblade and another mad elf, who just charged what seemed to be the leader of the pack weapon less, seemed to be fighting tugs and some sort of weird looking mutated monsters. This was not really where he wanted to be! If he stayed in here he’d have to fight Sinfulblade afterwards, which in itself wasn’t bad but this small room wasn’t to his advantages. And if he’d flee or shoot Sinful this would drastically lessen the chances of the others. So it would probably be hest to stand close to the door and a distance from everybody especially Sinfulblade.

Looking at the other mad elf an idea came to his mind (I just assume for this that he didn’t find a weapon, if he did ignore this) drawing his own sword he threw it over to his companion in arms.

Kneeling down next to the door he loaded his crossbow.
If anybody (enemy or Sinful) is coming towards him, he’ll fire 3 shots at them or if he’s left alone he’ll shoot at one of the elf’s our “leader” is struggling with.

Khalea was happy with the result of her shots, taking down the leader of the opposition as well as taking down a second druchii. Unfortunatly, Her plan to rescue the captive druchii was not working as she was forced to butt one of the druchii in the gut with her crossbow to give her time to draw her newly acquired longsword. However, the fight seemed to go well, so Khalea wasn’t going to complain. However, then the “doc” came out and staretd throwing his vials.

Khalea gave an annoyed sigh as the three monsters formed opposeing their party. This was great. Next the molemen in the cages would get free. She cast a quick glace at the cages, assuageing her sudden fear that they had indeed gotten free. The only one who had gotten free, fortunately, was the Dark elf who was now charging the madman who used the vials. Well that could be good, but Khalea recognized the same fire hot glint in his eyes as Sinful often had.

Oh crap she said, wondering how in the world she had offended Khaine enough to deserve this. However, the good news was that Malus seemed to have found him way into the caves, and was standing near and entrance with a loaded crossbow in hand. With both Sinful and Syjahel busy, it seemed that Khalea would not be getting any help anytime soon. She turned and ran toward Malus, sheathing her sword and grabbing her crossbow, hoping the other shade would be accurate enough to pick off the enemy while she reloaded. Not a good option, but the best one the tiny shade could think of.

Khalea will run to where Malus is, avoiding enemies while trying to reload. She will run at an angle so as to give him a shot at the enemies behind her. If she can reach him or some other relatively safe spot she will reload and use her crossbow to kill monsters and dark elves, starting with the closest.

The fight, while not going exactly well, was at least providing time to get into some kind of defensive order. A glance to Sinful showed that the arrogant teal Elf was mastering his frenzy, and the Lord's daughter regarded this much as a hopeful sign. The Shade did her work with customary efficiency and ruthlessness, and Syjahel's own blows were reaching their targets - it was almost as if the extemporised warband was finding its own rhythm at last. She parried a strike and hazarded a glance towards the cages, only to see the captive Druchii spring free. One more for the fight, Khaine be praised ...

A darted look over her shoulder as the door opened behind them almost cost her an eye, but the new shield did its work well. With a start she realised that Malus had rejoined them - whether as friend or foe was swiftly answered as he took up his customary stance with crossbow aimed and ready.

The arrival of the 'Doc' was an explanation she could do without, at a time like this. The knowledge of how the molemen came to be in the tunnels might be useful if she lived long enough to appreciate it. For now, Syjahel tried desperately to avoid the hurled vials and screamed her defiance with a loud warcry, bashing hard with her shield in the direction of her attacker's face and thrusting forward with her sword. Close quarter fighting left no time for finesse and she wanted to get the hired guards between her and the gaping, tentacled patch of floor as soon as she could.

Syjahel will concentrate on keeping the men fighting her and Sinful between her and Herr Doktor; she also wants to see if one of the enemy guards can be the first prey to that tentacled misfire on the floor. Using her shield to strike to stun or at least break her enemy's nose, she will keep it raised high in case of more incoming potions, and continue trying to strike to take someone out of the fight - killing is less important at this stage as she is conscious that the longer the Doc lives, the more trouble they are all in. At the moment though her instincts are to engage him herself as quickly as she can, she's tied up and the new Druchii has the fight in hand. Or so she hopes.

[OOC sorry for the delay! I didn't realise I was keeping people waiting ... ] :x

The eerie silence that was only parted with the silent footsteps of both sides getting into position was pure music to the ears of the arrogant elf, profoundly enjoying his position in the center of what seemed to be the eye of the storm, everything will start soon… Very soon.

A quick glance to the sides and Sinfulblade saw both the lithe shade kneeling down with crossbow in hand as well as Syjahel preparing herself near his side. Grinning the teal elf slowly slid one of his blades over the other, his eyes examining the approaching group, which started an all out sprint towards them as soon as their leader hit the floor.

See you on the other side, noblewoman

As the first blow narrowly missed the trainee he succumbed to the so familiar red mist and roared an ancient battle cry as soon as adrenaline in ample pulses started to surge through his veins followed closely by the sheer ferocity that Khaine so gracefully had provided all of his devotees. Blades met for a few strikes before the speed of Sinful was too great and the elven woman standing in front of him felt the sting of Druchii steel from the bastard sword swinging upwards in a quick motion, her ribcage gave in and with a desperate yelp she fell backwards blood pumping out of the fatal wound.

Pausing for a second to admire his handy work Sinful saw his other opponent run for the hills and roared lifting his swords into the air as he stood over the cooling corpse of the less fortunate female.

Is this all you had to offer?

No sooner the taunt had left his mouth Sinful was presented with the sight of the fabled “doc” as he strode out from his hiding spot. With a quick glance it was certain that the leader of the pack was hardly satisfied with what was happening around him and in a fit of desperation resorted to unholy tactics.

Narrowly sidestepping the first vial Sinful hissed in disgust as he saw the floor behind him bubble and twist, turning into something that was too disturbing to even recognize something that was alien to Sinful even after facing the previously encountered molemen in pitch darkness. As more vials were hurled it became painfully obvious that the “doc” had to be silenced and that must be done as soon as possible. With his fury slightly dazed by the sights of turning henchmen Sinful pondered the gambit of charging towards the elf in white. However, as he took a few leaps closer to him the teal elf noticed the ex-prisoner make a dash towards “doc” and thus changed his direction on the spot, aiming to charge at the bird creature instead.

Using his acrobatics training Sinful picked up speed as he ran and hoped to make it in time before the grotesque creation would take to the air.

Sinful will charge away from the “pit of doom” near him and target the bird creature instead, running a full out sprint and hoping to leap directly at it once the gap would be closed, the idea is to jump straight forward with both blades extended forwards and wound it enough on the first hit so that he would have enough time to roll over and continued fitting before the creature could regain itself

In the last few moments the world had turned upside down, but the mercenaries were practical folk, not given to mindless panic and all was not lost just yet.

Now free of his cage Dareth let his rage loose, sprinting across the floor at break neck speed. Somewhere behind him a short sword clattered on the stones, but he barely noticed, so focused was he on his chief tormentor.

As the berserker approached it became clear that the doc was not a warrior, thundering across the last few feet the white robed elf cried out in terror, it only spurred Dareth on and like a hunting cat he pounced. Both went crashing to the ground, groping half blindly Dareth managed to lock his fingers around the doc's slender neck, and squeezed.

Under Dareth's heavy form the doc thrashed around desperately, but, it seemed, futilely. His milk white skin began to turn purple and his struggles grew less violent. It seemed that the death of this particular ringleader was a sure thing. However while the doc may not have been a warrior he was not without defences, groping he finally managed to reach inside one of his deep pockets and pull out a small brass instrument. Dareth barely noticed and paid it no mind, but as the gewgaw was thrust against his chest a shocking, wracking pain shot through him and threw him up in the air, head over heels to end up on his back gasping for breath. Panting no less wildly the doc crawled to his feet, rubbing his neck as he staggered backwards, trying to get away.

Malus meanwhile was back on his feet, taking a brief glance over the broad room and its strange inhabitants the shade shouldered his crossbow. As Sinful made no show of even knowing he was there (for the moment at least), Malus took aim at the thugs still assailing Syjahel. Pressing his finger to the trigger Malus sent a trio of bolts soaring through the air towards them; one of the bolts flashed over head, but the second hammered into the lower belly of the previously unwounded brigand while the third raked down his left side bringing the elf to his knees, clutching at this stomach with whimpering sobs.

His fellow shade however was in a far less auspicious position, sheathing her sword Khalea tried to withdraw to Malus' position, unfortunately she had underestimated the sheer speed and power of the beast before her. Thrusting its former comrade aside the shaggy blue beast lashed out with devastating force at the retreating form of Khalea. The blow caught the elf on the back and sent her flying through the air. The beast's claws scythed through her thin attire and ripped long scratches down her back. In her adrenaline pumped state Khalea barely noticed the scratches, but she noticed the flagstones as she thudded into them, several meters away from where she had started.

Syjahel was in a better position, as she prepared to face down her remaining two opponents she was surprised, though not unpleasantly, to see black bolts flashing over her shoulder to strike the unwounded thug twice, putting him down. Stepping to the right Syjahel took several blows on her shield, pushing the wounded elf back with swings of her sword and landing several more shallow cuts on his un armoured form. None were fatal, but it hardly mattered. Syjahel’s cunning became apparent as thick tentacles wrapped themselves around his ankles and neck, reeling him in. What followed was best not described as serried ranks of rotating teeth worked away on elven flesh, the now living floor gulping down flesh now no more than ground mince.

Syjahel's joy at a plan well done was cut short however as it became clear that the beast was not yet full; the tentacles shot out once more, the warrior managed to fend off some with her broad shield and blade but with a yelp she was dragged of her feet by one slimy appendage wrapped around her ankle.

Heedless of all this Sinful ran straight towards to bird like monster. As the Khainite ran the monster was already flexing its new wings, seeing such a promising morsel of meat charged straight for it the beast flapped its vast appendages as it leaped forwards. However, it was not the only one; as he closed in Sinful displayed all of his graceful power as he launched himself through the air, blades outstretched.

The two met with a sickening crunch. The bird fiend was the larger, it’s fathered form far heavier, but this only worked to the Kainite’s advantage as it plunged onto his blades. The long bastard sword pierced thick flesh, its point digging deep and eliciting a piercing shriek from the avian horror. Wounded the bird fell to the ground, taking Sinful with it. With the bastard sword still sheathed in its flesh the monster fell on top of Sinfulblade, pinning him to the floor with its vast bulk. With pain in its glassy eyes the bird reared up, though its claws were pinned down its great beak was still a great threat. The beak came down like a jack hammer, Sinful jerked his head to the side and instead of his head the beak chipped the very rock, clearly this fight was not ever yet.

Alright, Dareth is now on the ground near to the doc and the secret door, stunned but ready to get back up. Malus is much where he was. Khalea is about halfway from where she was towards Malus sprawled on the floor with the monster behind her. Both of the thugs facing Syjahel are gone but she is now grasped by the tentacle herself. Sinful has wounded the bird monster badly, but is now crushed underneath it. The next deadline is 1st April.
