After a few difficult days Kayla was finally beginning to feel she might have a place amongst the group. She liked Gareth, despite his ignorance, he wasn't afraid to show his emotions and showed himself to have some semblance of a sense of humour. She smiled as he talked about raiding a herd of cattle. More Calis's style, I would imagine. No, Gareth had more important priorities than raiding some backwater country full of miscreants and degenerates. Kayla felt that he may have something of importance for them to do, and she could be a great asset to him if given the chance. These things take time, however, and Gareth was sure to test their loyalty and allegiance to the very limits.

The warrior was still unsure about Khitai, he wore his heart on his sleeve and that could make him vulnerable. It was abundantly clear that he liked her and she was glad that someone on the ship had the good sense to appreciate her strange beauty (though some of the crew had most definitely noticed). If it wasn't for the Khainite she might well have gone insane in the last few days, and it was great that he calmed her troubled mind to some extent. He had already proved himself to be a capable fighter, at least when they had duelled, if not at the human Lord's castle when he almost got himself killed - something which Kayla would not allow to happen, unless she decided to kill him herself, of course, which was perfectly fine.

And that left Calis. Of all the people she had recently become acquainted with, she thought the shade would have managed to figure her out to some degree by now, alas, he remained as clueless as the rest of them. That was how it seemed, anyway. He was physically frail and a coward by his unwillingness to fight, but he did have the good sense to realise this and not get himself killed. He was, or seemed to be, quite intelligent, but had a tendency to overcomplicate everything, much to Kayla's annoyance. However, she was growing accustomed to his eccentricities - or so she hoped.

"Well, since I am stuck with you awkward lot for the foreseeable, I'll put that time to good use training with my new weapon. Gareth, can you assign me a trainer to instruct me in it's efficient use? Also, as you can see, my armour is somewhat tattered, if you could provide me with a new suit, or at the very least, have my current suit repaired, I would appreciate it greatly - after all, the better trained and equipped we are, the better we are able to serve you."

Asking nicely :-)

OOC: Because Kayla's shield was shattered and she has a new weapon, I had to redesign her character on Soul Calibur character creator, she also got a new suit of armour, though I suppose she would have to work for a completely new suit (which she would find acceptable) as it seems unlikely that Gareth would just give her one.

OOC:
Hey hey hey! Back on track now, at last........
Just throwing in a short one here.

IC:
Khitai smiled when Gareth told that Kayla was comming with the group. He tightened the grip on the comb he got from Kayla, then he turned and placed it gently on his pillow, hoping Kayla noticed it.

"Of to Vikarh we go, I am looking forward to it. But now I need some food to fill my empty stomick. Anyone wanna join?"

His arm was truly better, he could feel the wound but not in any troublesome way. He walked to the door and let his weapons behind in the room, for now. "I need to train my arm and shoulder back in shape, I know. I guess the beautiful warrior will help me doing just that"

Want some food to fill an empty stomick

OOC:
Hope someone wants to join so we may have a litle RP dialog:)

So, time to go back to good ol' Nagg.
A woman onboard was always a bad omen, and this time was no exception: the loot had been awfully scarce, especially in light with the bloody sacrifice the troop had to commit to take over the castle.

But enough about the past.
Let's give a good start to our future feats with a good bottle.
Opening a bottle and making company with Kithai.

The warrior heard Khitai moving around, and looked at him side-long, when he moved again the comb she had given him was sat on his pillow. Why?
Khitai was up and about and eager to get some food, judging by his behaviour, and Kayla was mighty hungry and extremely thirsty herself. The warrior stepped from the wall to stand beside the Khainite, after placing a gauntleted hand on his good shoulder, she said: "If you wish to stay and drink with Calis, I can bring us some food from the canteen. But I'd rather we all went to the canteen for some breakfast as you seem well recovered, and this room smells nearly as bad as my armour."

She turned to Gareth then and nodded. "I wish to begin my training today, perhaps in an hour or two, first I am going to spend some time with my companions and satisfy my hunger. Suppose my other questions can wait, for now."

Kayla squeezed her hand gently and smiled at Khitai.

Joining in for breakfast.

Great!
Cali, bring the bottle down to the cantina so we can fill our stomicks with food and good drinks.

He looked at Kayla:
If you want some training, maybe I can help. I need to get my shoulder back in shape
He smiled back at her, wanting her smile to be more than just a smile. Then he walked towards the cantina.

Food and drink here I come

OOC: since the only person to answer about whether to skip on or not was Cal, who didn't seem particularly bothered whether we skip on or not, I will fast track through the journey back.

IC: Gareth smiled and nodded, "indeed celebrations are in order, my first raid - and no doubt some of your's as well - has been a success and when we reach familiar shores we will all be in better standings than when we left. I'll leave you all to your breakfast and revelry." With that Gareth left the room and so too did the heroes to the ship's canteen to eat and drink and talk, Ghasto even offered them some of the good rations in return for Calis's help with the wounded.

The first week of the return voyage passed peacefully. By the time anyone found the ransacked castle or watchtower the raider was almost out to open water, not that the grieving populace they left behind knew that, and The Great Ocean treated them kindly, the sea and sky remaining so calm in fact that it was possible to glimpse the mists to the south-west that were the only sign that the hated kin still occupied thier half-sunken falsely-claimed lands. During the journey Kayla and Khitai spend a lot of time together, the majority of it spent sparring, to the delight of the corsairs who gathered to watch whenever they fought. With no TCFKAS around to end fights early many of the pair's fights ground to a halt because of exhaustion or crewmen moving them on so they could work, as even though Assani was still recovering from his wounds to begin with, so too was Kayla getting used to fighting with two handed weapons and a lot of gold changed hands amongst the corsairs over thier bouts. While the other two fought and flirted Calis made hisself helpful wherever he was needed, his experience aboard corsair ships previously he occasionally lent a hand to the crewmen, trimming sails, and poling the ship along while they were still in the shallows. However Calis mostly found hisself drawn to the rapidly shrinking medical deck, helping Ghasto either fix up patients or toss overboard those that didn't make it and clean up after the no-longer-infirm so that grumbling corsairs could reclaim thier repurposed bunks.

About a third of the way into the second week of thier journey as the weather turned cold from the welcoming winds of the land of chill Kayla and Khitai were sparring again and Calis, having nothing better to do at that precise moment stood amongst the onlooking corsiars, when a shout went out from the crows nest, "ship off the starboard side, and it doesn't look friendly." Those corsairs not busy working the ship clamoured to look for the approaching ship and Captain Yorlus unfolded a telescope, though it was almost unnecessary, the ship was large enough that even though it was far in the distance it was clearly massive, with six masts plus rows of oars extending into the water the ship was catching up fast and despite the distance details such as the tattered hide sails and obviously unlooked after wood of the ship made it obvious that the monstrosity had come out of the wastes.

Everyone's on deck and there is a truly humongous chaos ship chasing the raider down and you are still a few days out of the safety of Kar Karond. Any questions? Carry on.

To his surprise, Calis'Shad found out that the corsairs were talking about the slaughter at the castle as a successful raid.
Cal himself fell to the sailor's tendency to slightly arrange stories, as they become far in time and space.
As he enjoyed somehow to talk, he was pleased to tell again and again to the avid assistance how he managed to sneak into the castle with Kithai, how both of them cleared a tower full of fierce ennemies, how Cal dared to remain alone in hostile grounds till Kithai brought the rescue, and how Cal and Kithai managed to open the gate amongst a rainfall of arrows.
Calis'Shad would remain silent only to listen to the captain himself describing how was killed the human giant leader with the impressive weapon. Everyone had his own story that would become a legend.

During the long free time, Cal helped to take care of the wounded. Sometimes he would give a hand to Ghasto for the cooking, providing a welcome variety.
Both attitudes served him well to gain popularity among crewmembers.

One day, a delightful call was heard: "ship off the starboard side!".
The ship bent when the whole crew rushed to starboard side to see what was coming.
As it became apparent that the newcomer was not as natural as their own ship, and that a battle would have to be fought, the corsairs started to get ready to defend their lives and, more important for corsairs, their belongings.

Calis'Shad went to his room to take his precision crossbow and as much ammo as he could carry.
Then he proceeded on to get as high as possible, to the crow's nest.
Climbing trees was one of the Shade's favorite fun time, and masts were not much different from trunks.

Climbing to crow's nest with as many ammo as possible.

Khitai's wound was totally healed, he had used the the time on the ship well, training up his shoulder. Ha had sparred many hours with Kayla, in much delight to the crew.

He spent time with both Cali and Kayla, and he felt the group a bit tighter than before, though the tension between Cali and Kayla was still present.

He looked forward to get of the stinking ship, and go out on real adventures. But the thought of adventures seemed distant at the moment. He wasn't uncomfortable on the ship, but he didn't enjoy it much either.

After a training session with Kayla, he went to his chamber to rest and clean up a bit. He had been there for a while when he suddenly heard a cry from a crewman tha a ship was in sight. He strapped his weapons and equipment on and run upon deck. There his untrained sea eyes could see that this was a hostile ship, and it was big.

He ran to Gareth
"where do you need me!?"

The journey back to Naggaroth was fairly uneventful. She was often bored, so spent much of her time eating, working out and sparring with Khitai, and as much as she enjoyed those sessions she still felt the need for a proper instructor to train her in the efficient use of her newly acquired great-sword - that or try to acquire another shield, a sturdier one this time. Other than Khitai, who she socialised with almost daily, Kayla avoided everyone as much as possible.

One day after sparring with Khitai the warrior was stood astern gazing out at the sea of endless waves - which Kayla did often when she was not required for her duties and it almost granted her a sense of tranquillity - she heard a shout from the crow's nest that a ship was encroaching upon their barely seaworthy vessel.

She turned from the railing and raised an eyebrow at what she saw. A massive six-masted ship was off in the distance. Kayla knew practically nothing about ships and this one was by far the biggest she had ever seen - even away on the horizon it looked to be huge.

Awaiting orders.

Yorlus shouted the crew back to thier posts, "we can't outrun them! Turn us about helmsman, we'll try to cripple them with a broadside before they're in position to return fire." The deck came alive with sailors hurrying to unpack, string and move into position the ship's ballistae as the raider banked around. Moments later Gareth arrived from below deck wearing his segmented armour with his black mace hanging from his belt as Calis disappeared into the rigging. Gareth was immediately accosted by Khitai asking for orders and Kayla standing nearby obviously expecting the same, "you two help move that ballista into position, then gather up with the rest of the crew and get ready to repel boarders."

Calis reached the crows nest and shared a nod with a corsair who was already up there armed with an altogether more druchii-looking crossbow. Meanwhile Khitai and Kayla finished pushing the ballista into position in time to hear a corsair beside them cry out in surprise, "by Khaine, look at it!." It took a moment for anyone to work out what the elf was shouting at, then more shouts went out until the entire crew was stood gawking out at the chaos ship as it approached.

As the ship closed it's masts appeared to disappear behind each other; the oars melded together one by one and eventually they became indistinct from the surf and vanished altogether, even the hull itself seemed to shrink and all the while the ship sped up beyond it's already incredible speed. The few corsairs who had regained thier senses fired a clutch of ballista at the newly formed brigantine, but as the bolts streaked toward the ship mist boiled up from the sea and the ship became invisible behind the localised weather patterns, as quickly as it had formed however the mist dissipated taking the ship with it. After a few moments of tense silence the mystery solved itself as the chaos ship burst out of the water a bare handful of feet away on the opposite side of the raider, a booming chuckle came from the depths of the crew-less ship and then the entire thing crumbled into driftwood.

One corsair broke the silence, "we should get outta here."

The warship has proven to have had no crew, defied prospective and gotten smaller as it got closer to you, then disappeared into mists, before resurfacing several meters away, then crumbling in a few moments. Just chaos showing that it can do whatever it damn well pleases and to hell your reality  Any questions? Carry on, and the next modpost will see you in Naggaroth.

It was not long at all before Gareth appeared on deck and snapped orders to Kayla and Khitai, they swiftly got to attention and began moving the ballista into position ready to fire upon the approaching chaos vessel. After that was done, Kayla stood and watched the ship in mild amusement as the corsairs scurried around with expressions of concern.

Rather unexpectedly the vessel began to mould itself into smaller and smaller shapes. When some panicked corsairs fired the giant crossbows at the vessel, a sordid mist appeared then disappeared taking the ship with it. Moments later the warrior heard a loud splash behind her and spun round quickly, only to see the ship splinter into driftwood, a maniacal laugh following in it's wake.

Suspecting the worst, she quickly stepped over the side rail to see what other payload the ship may have contained. But all was still, only the consternation of the crew seemed to hang in the air. Kayla could not stifle a chuckle of her own at the randomness of what had just happened.

Looking around, much bemused.

OOC: I've only got my lunchbreak to do this modpost in, don't be surprised if I have to finish it tonight (thats if you even notice this at all)

IC: With the chaos devilry done with it was only a days sailing before the raider passed over the great sea gate at kar Karond and on into the sea of chill, but it was a day that the corsairs spent very quietly with lots attention payed to lucky rituals and evil-warding charms. Once the comforting cold of home waters was upon them the corsairs became more relaxed and the important business of claiming as much of the loot as possible for oneself, through bribery, blackmail, extortion, but in most cases good old fashioned gambling became the most important dealings of the day. Soon enough the sea of chill passed into the sea of malice and by mid afternoon the next day the raider had made it's way through the River Spite and up to the docks inside Vikhar.

The ship anchored in Vikhar harbor and the corsairs busyed themselves unloading the spoils of the raid, gathering what they had claimed for themselves and pilfering anything they thought wouldn't be missed, the same group of corsairs Gareth had taken aside back at the bretonnian castle set off toward the bible's quarter with an oddly shaped package. Meanwhile, Gareth hisself handed each of the heroes a clinking bag, "your payment for services rendered. Head down to the market if you like, I'll be busy for a while organising what affairs have changed during my absence. Vorith will also be heading to the markets and he will lead you to my estates when you're done. I'm sure I'll have some work for you when you return."

All
+100 druchast

civilisation, yay, Gareth is advising that you go to the market, but you can really do as you like in town (I'm assuming you'll want to spend your shiny coin though). Any questions? Carry on.

Vikhar. That city was not known to Calis'Shad.
In order to reach the pier, a ship had to get upstream for a short while, and penetrate the city gates.
The ciy itself was somehow smaller than the Druchii main cities, but that seemed still way too large for Calis'Shad's taste.

At least, there should be some marketplace where a leather armour could be found.
This kind of accessory could prove useful. Not that Calis'Shad intended to engage any soon into a melee, but he would apreciate some animal's skin helping to keep his own skin waterproof.

As most corsairs naturally found their way to the closest taverns, some had to get replenishment for the ship. Following them, Calis'Shad would find easily the marketplace.

Looking for the marketplace, searching for a leather armour.

Land, finally. Though he'd never been in Vikhar before, it's was land and that was a pleasant sight indeed. He had received his reward from Gareth, and he planned to use them well. He hoped to find some quality scimitars, after all, he lived by his swords. The only thing he could trust with his life.

He didn't know witch way to go, but it was not a difficult task to find a marketplace. He just followed the crowd. He hoped he could trade his swords, the human coins and the rewards to get what he was looking for.

It had been a very long time since the female warrior had last visited a city, twenty, thirty years? She could not recall exactly. One thing she was sure of, it was mighty pleasing to be off that accursed ship! Vikhar was small, more like a large town than a fully fledged city, nevertheless, it didn't do much to make Kayla feel welcome. Cities, by their very nature were chaotic, children running amok, merchants setting up shop and serving all manner of customers, citizens running ragged trying to live some form of existence - and that was only at the markeplace. Not at all like the orderly life she led at the watchtower, where discipline, duty and training were all part of the daily routine.

Gareth advised them to go to the market and armed each of them with one hundred druchast to spend. When training with her new weapon, she found that her old armour was unsuitable, it restricted her freedom during certain manoeuvres and chafed in all the wrong places. She knew armour was expensive and there would be no quartermaster here, she hoped selling the stolen jewellery for more coin and trading her current armour for the new set would be enough. Any leftover money would go towards a helmet, assuming she would have enough for the armour in the first place.

Going to the maket.
Hopes to sell the stolen jewellery for a good price.
Wants to trade her current armour for a new set, using her coins to make up the difference.

Each hero took thier pay and set off into the crowd one at a time, hopefully heading toward the market. Kayla and Khitai were pushed along by the crowd, just out of sight of one another, along the path of the River Spite, before turning south with the throng and soon regaining some control of thier heading as the various bottlenecks of Vikhar's main roads opened out to the commoners markets. Calis on the other hand followed a group of corsairs down ragged backstreets, past the obvious and offensive smell of the city stables and finally to an unfriendly-looking tavern, which the corsairs entered. Luckily it was not hard to follow the sounds and smells of the markets and soon he entered ramshackle, half-covered space of the commoners markets.

Calis began wandering through the markets searching for someone who looked likely to be selling protective gear, he weaved through various druchii haggling furiously over food and necessities and passed by a few seedy-looking tailors and armour smiths before stopping in front of the least shifty merchant he could find. The elf was shouting to passers by and gesticulating wildly at the various miraculous properties of his armour, while his claims of immortality and good fortune for the wearer were certainly false the armour looked sturdy enough and when the merchant noticed Calis's attentions he immediately rounded on him, "good morrow to you, noble autaurii, as it is obvious by your fine choice of weapons and superb eye for the finest, lightest armour that you are from one of the glorious shade's clans. What can I do for you today, perhaps this fine piece here? Blessed by Khaine hisself! A bargain at only 300 druchast, what do you say?" On the opposite of the crowded thoroughfare another merchant heard the over-enthusiastic sales pitch and called across, "don't listen to that madman, he spends his days whispering at his armour and everyone knows his mother was a human. I'll make you a better deal." The first merchant turned a majestic shade of purple and bawled back, "to the wastes with you, Marius, you'll not steal another of my customers with your slanderous lies."
-----
Across the market Kayla marched up to the nearest stall and asked where she could sell items of value and was met by a barrage of offers from the surrounding merchants, despite not actually having shown anyone what she was selling. She settled the druchii who looked most knowledgeable, an elf a few stalls away who had been using, somewhat believably, a set of jewellers tools on a small rock much to the duress of the other merchants. After having the goods shown to him the Merchant quickly examined the jewellery, looking less and less impressed as he did so, "I'm sorry to say this ma'am, but those rings are fake - glass gems and mostly brass in the gold - so they're not much more than worthless. The necklace is fairly valuable though. I can offer you 100 druchast for the lot if you like." The mass of interest garnered by Kayla's quiet comment had also attracted the attention of a well dressed man almost as scarred as Kayla herself holding what appeared to be an elegant walking stick despite his perfect poise and stride.
-----
Unbeknownst to either of them Khitai arrived in almost the same place in the market as Kayla and turned in the opposite direction in search of a pair of exotic blades. Khitai had to cover almost the entire market space before he found what he was looking for, up in one corner of the market he found a druchii wearing garb that set him apart from the rabble around him as an obvious member of the noble caste, who stood in front of a stall festooned with exotic and inexplicable weapons including, to Khitai's delight, a pair of scimitars which he could tell just by looking were finely balanced. The nobleman looked Khitai up and down then followed his gaze to the blades, "those swords are worth more than you are boy, but I have a need to be rid of them so perhaps we could strike an accord. I will part with the swords for 500 druchast."

Calis is being fought over by two merchants, Kayla has been offered 100 druchast for her jewels, Ignat is near Kayla, Khitai is facing a steep offer for his scimitars. Any questions? Carry on.

Calis'Shad caught the attention of two merchants who wanted to sell him a leather armour.
Either they were no friends to each other or they were playing a comedy in order to better fool the would-be customer.
This was an old game, and Calish'Shad could play that game, too.
Calis'Shad told the first one:
My friend, in case you did not know, not all Shades have lived their whole life in a tree.
Now, if you believe that a leather armour is worth 300 druchasts, I'm eager to sell you quite a few. I can even make them 200 for you. How many would you buy at that price?

Then he turned to the other merchant.
If your price is more decent, I'll be glad to examine what you sell.

Bargaining.

OOC: Could we consider that a human crown is the same weight in gold than a druchast?

Shopping! Kayla could not get her head round it and found that she did not like the attention. The moment she had asked where to sell items of worth she was literally assaulted by offers and people crying for her to do business with them. Back at The Black Pillar the garrison commander gave her everything she needed from the quartermaster - armour, weapons and rations, basically that was all she wanted. She had to pay for anything else, including repairs for her equipment and in her case that got to be mighty expensive sometimes. The Towermaster took half of her wages for 'bread and board', most of the other half went on repairs and the occasional luxurious meal. She was also one of the few soldiers who could afford a maidservant, since she never took any leave and didn't drink herself into insensibility at every available opportunity like the majority of the other soldiers.

Drowning out the cries for attention, Kayla focused on the nearby stalls. She saw a merchant analysing jewellery with various contraptions and figured he'd be the best place to start. She marched through the throng of people gently shoving the odd one aside as she approached the merchant, who turned his gaze to look up at her when she stood next to his stall.

"Citizen, I have jewellery here that I wish to sell. Can you examine them for me?" The slim elf nodded and Kayla handed him the small pouch of jewellery since her gauntlets hindered the agility of her fingers. He took a minute or two to examine the jewellery, then made Kayla a tentative offer.

She looked him hard in the eye. The blue-eyed warrior still wore the armour of a soldier of Naggaroth, and many people - including lowly merchants - knew such people were rarely trifled with, for good reasons. Kayla's armour, however, had been modified to her own specifications - serving the Tower for nigh on a century had allowed Kayla a certain amount of leeway when it came to equipment customization - it sported several large spikes on the pauldrons and greaves, and any number of unfortunates could attest to the lethality of both. Unlike the regular soldiers armour which was made of iron steel, her set was made completely from stainless steel, a far stronger and more durable alloy.

She was about to make a counter offer when she noticed an elderly gentleman watching her and the merchant. Kayla looked at him briefly, noticing his heavy scarring and the walking stick he carried. Something compelled her to talk to the stranger but she was otherwise preoccupied at the moment. The warrior gave him a respectful nod. "Just a moment, citizen, I wish to speak with you."

Kayla returned her blue-eyed stare to the skinny merchant."A reasonable starting offer, I suppose. Considering the number of humans I had to kill just to get these trinkets... One hundred and twenty druchast and you have a deal."

Haggling. Will settle for 110 druchast but won't go any lower.
Also wishes to speak with the 'old man' once the transaction is complete.
Will also enquire of him where the armourers store is (she needs to be 'measured' etc to make sure the armour fits properly).

OOC: The lengthy description of Kayla's armour is meant a little for the intimidation factor to help bargain with the merchant. but primarily as a precursor to when she goes to to visit the armourer: he/she will see that it's of good quality and hopefully worth a fair amount ;)

The market. A filthy place where scumbags try to con people out of money and possesions. Ignat's eye falls on a lady in heavy armour. She was wearing a rather large sword. Most peculiarly, she tried to sell some fancy jewelry, though without much succes. Jewelry and armour. The combination only seen on nobles and adventurers. If I play my cards right, I might get some riches myself.

However, just as Ignat was about to aproach the warrior, their eyes crossed and Ignat knew enough. She would make the first move.

Ignat will wait to see if the warrior will adress him.

OOC: Ignat isn't old, being only 144 years. He's just heavily scarred.

After wondering around in the marketplace looking for his scimitars, he finally found a weapon seller. He had two scimitars that looked like they meant business, sharp, balanced and light. The nobleman looked at Khitai and said:
"those swords are worth more than you are boy, but I have a need to be rid of them so perhaps we could strike an accord. I will part with the swords for 500 druchast."

5oo druchast, he is never gonna get that for them, not that I have it either...

Khitai tried to look like he wasn't that interested, though he certainly was. He shook his head and made a nonchalant grimace.
They don't look that god, not worth that price and you know it. Let me try them out so i may feel the balance and how they handle

Letting the nobleman know that he's not gonna get the price, but wants to try them out

OOC: Cal - not entirely sure what "Now, if you believe that a leather armour is worth 300 druchasts, I'm eager to sell you quite a few. I can even make them 200 for you. How many would you buy at that price?" means, I assume you are offering 200 druchast for the armour.

IC: The merchant's face deepened from purple to crimson at Calis's offer, "My armour is superior to any you will find in this market! 300 druchast is a bargain for my works! Do not presume to mock me barbarian!" After a moment, during which even passers by were silent, the second merchant called across, "I'll take 200 druchast for the gear you want and you won't have to besmirch yourself dealing with crazy people."
-----
The jeweller rubbed his neck nervously at Kayla's description of the events leading to her aquiring the gems, "ah, well, erm, I'm not sure the blood spilt affects the, uh, value of items, but I can see why you would, erm, think some extra worth might be applicable. I guess 120 is a fair price. Hang on let me just fetch the money." The elf disappeared underneath the counter and after the clicks of several locks being opened and reclosed he emerged again to hand Kayla a pile of coins, which she counted into the bag with Gareth's payment. The warrior asked where she could find an armoursmith and the jeweller told her the way to a stall on the outer edge of the markets, which was run by a druchii he knew and bode a somewhat relieved fairwell to Kayla. Kayla stepped away from the stall and turned to the scarred stranger.
-----
The nobleman struggled to hide a glare before passing Khitai the scimitars, "very well, but don't get any ideas. If you try to rob me you will be cut down before you leave this cesspit. I think you'll find that those blades are 'that good' and they are very much worth every druchast of thier value." Khitai took the swords and experimentally whirled them twice, they were wonderfully light and well balanced.

Kayla
- Various jewellery
+120 druchast

Calis is being shouted at by the first increasingly bonkers merchant, Kayla has sold her jewellery and is about to greet Ignat (I assume), Khitai is evaluating this scimitars. Any questions? Carry on.

(EDITED)
Calis'Shad remained unmoved in front of the first merchant's burst of wrath.
He thought that even 150 to 180 druchast was too high a price to pay for a single piece of armour: the amount represented the best part of his whole gains for the campaign that just ended.

The other merchant proved to be much more polite and had a more reasonable starting price at 200. "I'll take 200 druchast for the gear you want and you won't have to besmirch yourself dealing with crazy people."
Bargaining would take time, patience and politeness. Calis'Shad had all of this.
Sure, could you show me what you offer for that price?
Calis'Shad took the time to examine closely the armour. How would it protect from blows? What part of the body would it leave unprotected? More important, how much freedom of movement would it leave? How would it resist the tearing of a Shade's life?
After the thorough inspection, Calis'Shad declared:
I like your work much better. That armour could be useful for an outdoor war campaign.
What else do you include in the 200 druchast package?

Looking at competitors' offer. Bargaining more.

Kayla was prepared to meet the merchant halfway and was somewhat surprised when he so readily agreed to her counter offer. Once the coins were safely in her purse she thanked the jeweller and offered him a grimace. She then asked about an armourers in town and was directed to another stall. The warrior needed a shop with four walls and a roof - it would be imprudent for her to change gear in full view of the public, after all, it wouldn't fair on the other Druchii.

She stepped up to the scarred stranger. On closer inspection he was not as old as he first seemed to be, and was perhaps only a few decades older than Kayla herself. She liked his scars, they were cute. "Citizen, I wished to speak with you but I have business to attend to at present."

The blue-eyed warrior stoically marched through the throng of people. The marketplace was far too busy for Kayla's liking, too many people, too many conversations overheard and the humdrum of activity was chaotic and noisy. She wished to leave the market as soon as possible. One particularly inattentive fellow knocked into her as he barged past, with not even a hint of an apology. Kayla stopped and, with angry eyes, watched him storm away up the street before checking her valuables were still in her possesion. She was relieved to find that they were. Given a more appropriate time and a better place, someone would be receiving a lesson in manners with a fist to the face!

The armourer's stall was just a few stalls from were she stood so Kayla approached and was welcomed with an almost-smile in greeting.
"Citizen, I find myself in need of a good set of medium armour and a helmet. Something light-weight yet durable that won't hinder me too much. I have the suit I am wearing to trade, plus the chain-shirt if you can find a use for it, and money to make up any difference. Other than what is in plain view, have you any other stock?"

Trading with the new merchant.
If asked, Kayla will take off any piece of armour (greaves, pauldrons, gauntlets) that the merchant wishes to inspect (for decencies sake she'll keep the chain-shirt on unless the merchant wants it or she needs to trade it - no point in keeping it, really).

OOC: Did not realise the 'scarred stranger' was Ignat before, my bad. Have had a look at his character sheet and it is much clearer now. ;)

Kensou, if you like you can have Ignat tag along with Kayla, just be warned, she's not really the talkative type
