OOC - When overcoming an opponent together like this you will all reap the rewards by the way, no need to try and be the one who lands the killing blow.

IC -

The marauders met for the first time on the edges of the vast crater, still barely within earshot of one another even as they judged each other and sized each other up. Down in the middle of the crater, the big creature that had apparently been feeding on the now fleshless carcass of a dead animal, stood up on its hind legs and looked around. As it rose up, they realised that it had once been a minotaur. The creature stood on two hoofed and fur clad legs, and had a muscular torso with two massive arms. It's head still boasted two impressive curved horns, but it had also been changed by the warping essence of Chaos. Atop its forehead was a cluster of eyes, and one of its thick muscular arms formed into a long, sharp sword made of bone. In places, its spine had extended through its flesh, giving it a row of spikey bone protrusions down its back.

Severous was the first to charge the beast, followed a moment later by Karl. The marauders of Chaos Undivided began thundering down the sloping sides of the crater towards the beast, as Bysra readied her weapons but stayed back to get an overview of the fight. Grollund followed the example the others had set, and stomped down the slope to meet the thing in combat, just as Hulr too decended the slope at a swift sprint. The four marauders reached the beast almost at the same time, save for Grollund who stayed a little further back intentionally, and Bysra who had not yet charged. Severous ran headlong at it and then dropped to his knees, skidding under the sweep of its bonesword and slicing his blade across the inside of its leg.

The minotaur howled, but gave no sign of relenting already. It punched its fist down at the ground just as Severous rolled free again, leaving a distinct crack in the compact dirt that could just as easily have appeared on the marauders skull. Karl was next, one of his throwing axes hitting the beast between the shoulder blades and leaving a deep gauge as it fell away, but his second being knocked from the air by the bloodthirsty brute as it span back around to face him. It had just started stamping over to him when Hulr hit it from the side, going for the arm just above its long bonesword. It changed target mid move and swept its weapon out at the Slaaneshi instead, but he deftly hopped back out of the way. At that point, Grollund slammed his glaive down for the back of the minotaurs horned head, but met only the air as it stepped forwards again, encircled by them all.

Bysra was edging her way closer, determining the best way to join in the fight. The minotaur looked at the sky and bellowed out its fury.

OOC: Getting a taxi to the airport in 5 hours time. Wont be able to post till the 24th of Jan. Loving this so far btw

IC: Karl studied the great hulking monster, as he ran down the crater, a throwing axe in each leather wrapped hand. The beastmen were creatures of chaos. Even in their usual forms of thick furred muscle, clooved hooves and horns, it was plain to see. This creature bore true blessings of the Great Dark Powers that ruled the crown of the world. Horrid blinking eyes, packed closely together, bone spines from its back, and an arm ending in a equally gruesome and bloody bone, similar to a sword, and probably more deadly then most.

He gripped his axes tighter. They were some of the very few things that he had kept with him since leaving his village all that long ago. The one in his right, had a wide iron head, slightly pitted from use and rust damage. The grip and shaft had been a walrus rib originally, wrapped with the same beasts tough hide. The other was a simpler thing. The three spikes of it head were heavy bronze, its shaft from a old Empire spear. They were the crude weapons of a Northern 'Savage'. He had kept them, for they served well in tight spots, and were useful for wounding even large foes such as theses, though he realized he had never faced something this large before.

With a sharp grunt, and a prayer to the gods he threw. He could barely miss the Minotaurs' massive back. The iron headed axe span end over end, leaving a great bloody tear in the beast. His second axe was quick behind its brother, but was idly flicked away. He dodge left slightly as the bronze headed axe came twirling back at him. The Gods were truly fickle with their favor. They help those who help themselves, he though wisely, drawing his Greasword. There blessing or not he would fight well this day.

These other warriors had come to fight the beast, and if they could keep from each other throats for the moment maybe they could win out. His eyes were on the beast for the moment. Introductions and 'sizings ups' could be made later. If they lived.

With a shout to the God, his sword held high, he went anew into battle.

Karl will head close to the minotaur. He wishes to try and get around it, or distract it long enough for another of the 'group' to get into its blind spot, or behind it. If he can, he aims to hamstring it, or at least weaken its legs. If he is the one keeping the beast busy, he aims to focus on dodging and diving.

Bysra watched as the four other warriors charged down at the bull-headed monster. It met all with equal ferocity, muscular arms forcing the Marauders to evade or play defense. Whether by the will of the Gods or some other influence, the warriors were forced into cooperation.

Bysra acutely realized she was one of them. Or rather, she should be. Of one thing she was now absolutely sure; glory was to be found in this place, and she would not be denied. But how to bring down such a monstrosity? In those precious few seconds of melee the beast had already shown itself nigh impervious to pain, a quick thinker, a strong and not to mention deceptively agile combatant. There was no way Bysra could a land a blow fierce enough to faze it, which in her mind left her with only one other option...

Bysra (finally) joins the fight, trying to stay defensive and mobile. If a clear shot at the Minotaur's achilles tendons presents itself, she will lunge at the opportunity.

Severous was the first to draw, it brought a grim smile to his face. the action, if preformed years ago, would not have done so. he quickly decided that now was not the time to ruse on that...
still on the ground, and now with the other marauders hacking at the beast, severous continues his assault on the minotaurs lower regions.

Severous continues to attack the minotaurs legs, using his sword to parry any attacks and his axe to do the damage.

Hulr watched as the other marauders attacked the monster Hulr had already jumped out of the things reach ones and now tock a moment to think of his next move, he looked at his axes and then pleased it back in the loop on his belt. He then held his bastard sword in a two handed grip and broadened his stance. The Minotaur stepped forward towards him, and he kept his ground bringing his sword up defensively bending his knees.

Hulr will wait till the Minotaur try’s to strike him and side step and duck. Then try and trust his sword in to the Minotaur’s arm or shoulder

OOC: very sorry, this has been a busy week for me so I forgot to post. Won't happen again.

IC: The gribbly prooved to be a monster in combat as well as persona, it weaved and dodged almost everything the marauders threw at it in a flurry of eyes, arms and speediness. After Grollund's slash sailed past the back of griblly's head he stumbled forward and quickly stepped back out of the gribbly's reach and settled back ready to pounce again.

Grollund will step back and continue to jab at gribbly's eyes and if the opportunity presents itself then he will jab said gribbly in the back.

OOC - Sorry guys I've had a really busy week. I intend to try and run at least two modposts a week where I can.

IC -

For the first few moments of the fight, the mutated minotaur proved to the marauders that it was no easy match, and that it had the strength and skill to outmanouvere each and every one of them. As they came together however, their combined skills and abilities seemed almost to click into place, as though they had been destined to meet and fight alongside each other all along. The five pawns of Chaos now surrounded the raging beast, which swung its bonesword around in heavy arcs, turning itself this way and that as to watch them all and keep their weapons at bay. They could see its huge chest rising up and down with every taken breath, its rage fuelled adrenaline rush causing it to heave and snarl.

Grollund and Hulr took the minotaurs attention for a moment, as the Nurglite lanced the tip of his glaive into one of its many eyes with a loud and sickening pop, and the Slaaneshi danced in behind him to stab it in the shoulder. As the beast bellowed in pain and brought its bonesword around, forcing the pair to leap back out of range again, the rest of the band closed in from behind. Bysra and Karl went each for a heel tendon, just as Severous made a cut for the back of the creatures nearest knee. Together they immobilised the brute, and dodged out of the way as it span around to swipe at them, losing its balance in the process.

The enraged minotaur crashed to the ground, alive but almost undone. Together, the marauders fell upon it, stabbing and hacking until it moved no more.

Grollund: rolled a 4 on the Gifts of Nurgle chart - is branded by Nurgle.
Karl: rolled an 8 (4+4) on the Gifts of Chaos Undivided chart - grows black claws!

(OOC: Rolling a lot of 4's today! Sorry Bysra no gift for you I'm afraid, better luck next time though!)

~

In the moments after the fight, the marauders gathered together around the body of the dead minotaur and paused to catch their breath. Introductions and discussions would have to wait a moment longer however, as suddenly the air seemed to crackle with the ominous power of the aether. Grollund dropped to his knees and cried out, at first in pain and then in rasping, hollow laughter as the mark of Nurgle revealed itself upon his flesh. Hulr felt his eyes suddenly change, and his perception increased slightly and he found himself with a new power in his gaze. Karl and Severous both roared and looked at their hands, their fingernails tainting black and growing long into sharpened claws. Only Bysra was left standing with nothing apparently different about her, but for all the others knew she too had gained something powerful inside.

Hulr jumped to the back of the Minotaur and slammed his sword into its shoulder making the beast howl in pain and tern on him and one other marauder. Hulr dove and rolled out of the monsters reach coming up in a graceful stances sword at the ready. As Hulr watched the other marauders hacking at the beast and as it span trying to catch them it fell in an avalanche of flesh.

As the Minotaur crashed to the ground Hulr charged with his sward in a two handed grip, as he sprinted to the beast he switched his grip on his sword to a under handed one and an slammed it through the bicep of the minotaur’s sword arm pining it to the ground. He then grabbed his axes and started hacking at the beasts arm and shoulder in a battle frenzy shouting the name of his god as he hacked and slashed.

After the butchery of the Minotaur all the marauders took a moment to catch their breath and stare at their new companions but soon after the follower of the plague father fell to his knees screaming in agony, Hulr tried to wipe the Minotaur’s blood from his eyes so he could better see what had befell the marauder, but then his eyes started to burn and his vision went black. He heard two others roar and weapons crash to the ground, but soon Hurl’s vision returned but he noted that he saw thing in better detail then before and he felt a unholy power behind his stare. His attention was drawn by the nugel marauder as Hulr saw that he was no longer screaming but laughing, then he noticed that all of them had been blessed by the gods and hulf started to laugh as well.

Hulf will laugh for a bit. Then study the group and answer any thing someone might ask him

Though the Minotaur exhibited a ferocity to be respected, even in the eyes of the Blood God, together the Marauders brought it to its knees. As the deathstrikes fell, Bysra could feel the air around them changing. Like, as if reality itself was cut, and shrieked its agony to the world.

One by one, her ad-hoc companions fell to the ground, their bodies apparently wracked with pain. She'd seen blessings before, and wasn't at all surprised she herself was not singled out for such glory. After all, Bysra could hardly consider herself a servant of the Gods any more, killing only in the name of revenge. She would slay Khorne's servants until death claimed her, and that it would claim her was a certainty, blessings or no.

Bysra smashes the Minotaur's skull to gristle with her mace, in doing so denying it to the fabled Skull Throne forever.

As Gribbly panted and swirled on the spot, Grollund seized a promising looking opportunity and jabbed hard at it's face, popping one of it's eyes and spraying hisself with Gribbly-juices in the process. As he stepped out of range of the flailing arms Grollund extended his tongue experimentally to a glob of Gribbly-juice on his cheek and gave it a lick, as it turned out it wasn't bad but he didn't fancy tasting any more.

During his distraction three of his fellow Gribbly-hunters had cut it's legs out from under it and left it lowing in pain on the floor, catching the same train of thought as the others he stepped in and slammed his glaive down into the back of Gribbly's neck, twice - in the wastes you can never be too sure something's dead.

Grollund raised his weapon in celebration, before wincing and falling to his knees. Pain had blossomed across the side of his head like he had never felt before and he feared that Gribbly had hit him without his noticing, but as his fingers explored the lancing site his terror turned to jubilation as he felt the triple circle that was forming between his rapidly swelling eye, the large boil that grew and exploded on his temple, and a vicious band of mould on his cheek. Grollund chuckled in triumph, the chuckles became maniacal giggling, and the giggles became howls of deranged laughter. Oh the sweet, unfathomable irony of the gods.

Paralytic with euphoria, don't expect much in the way of eloquence from Grollund for a good few minutes

The beast fell easily enough, the group working together, smashing the beast aside and tearing it apart.
Of the group, they all seemed to walk from different paths, one had earned the obvious mark of Nurgle, while others showed their patron god in the way they fought.
Severous gritted his teeth in pain as his hands transformed into claws. He looked down at his long, now black talons in suprise... It seems the dark gods did gift their followers. As he raised his eyes he noticed that another had gained the same favour, he seemed to show no alleigance to any particular God.

An awkward silence fell over them after the defeat of the beast. Severous had learned rather quickly that unless you were allies in the wastes, you were enemies. rather then turn this into a fight, Severous broke the silence.

Well met I guess... Is it just me who was lead here by fate? or have you all come this way out of sheer luck?

They faced the great beast together. Such a creature of the Chaos Powers would have overwhelmed a single one of them in mere moments. Together they were strong. He thought of the great warchiefs and demons who hand banded the powers of the North to a single cause. Such legends and tales were common amongst the tribes of his homeland. If Chaos stood undivided against all who opposed it. Nothing would stand it there way. Soon their group tactics work. The great hulking beast fell to the ground, unable to move, though still very much alive.

With a wild how he leapt on the stricken beast. His greatsword came down in cruel butchers cuts, as he hacked into the thing again and again. He was soaked in dark stinking blood, as the minotaurs movements grew weaker. The other had joined in on the manic butchery. Soon he stood panting, gored blade held lightly in his hand, its point dug slightly into the blood soaked dirt. He was equally spattered as his blade, the cooling blood already hardening over him. With a sweaty palm he wiped his face somewhat clean.

A great fiery pain leapt over his nails, like lighting being driven into his bones. With a rabid snarl of pain he sank slightly, as great energies coursed through him. Where had this agony come from. Were the Gods so cruel to kill him after such a victory? They were not. He fell bone stretch crack and grow. A wicked grin crept over his horrid tattooed face. Each finger now ended in a dark sharp claw. The pain was lessening, as the forced mutation came to its end. A thin trickle of blood crept from the edges of his new black talons, though that also quickly subsided. He held them up to better see them.

Each was a black as ebony, with harsh white edges. a true sign that the powers blessed him. He gave thanks to each of the Four Chaos' in turn. He looked over the other servants of the dark powers. One remained unblessed, a woman of that, or so the creature seemed. Nothing was certain this far north.

A follower of the Plague Father was giggle like a mad witch, his face weeping fresh soars. The mark of Nurgle, most fitting it seemed for this disgusting fanatic. Nurglites were strong though, and great reapers of death hen called for. A strange man was laughing slightly also. He had the clean look and musk of Hedonist, the follower of the pleasure prince. Another warrior who would fight as quick as a snatched breath, and with a mad frenzy.

Another man like him stood near, with a set of black claws like his own. He gave the warrior a slight nod of recognition. Another servant of the eight pronged star.

I am Karl Zunra, wanderer of the Wastes, Servents of Chaos. Who might you be? He asked the group as a whole.

He will greet them all. Then he will proceed to carve up the minotaur. He would fancy a bit of cooked heart later.
