Yes, that thing. *shudder*

Loflar: point taken, then. Since I find the mere suggestion of Counter Strike offensive (;)), how about Counter Attack or even simply Counter?

For now, why not? Better Counterattack then Counter (counters are AFAIK in shops ;-). But I would really like to know Arq's opinion about this.

Same here, which is why I'm waiting for him to show up and take up his functions before I edit anything. :)

Arq could help here, as he is both English native and fencer. If you want an English skill name, I would suggest, for lack of better ideas, "counterstrike".

It's just called a simultaneous attack here. Happens all the time. Spiteful/Disdainful blow might be somewhat more characterrful for us.

OK, then my preferences are:

1) Stesso Tempo. Yes, it is Italian. So is Tyrions "Riposta". "Sensei" in Clan Eshin armylist is from Japanese. And Malus Darkblade is an awful Latin-English hybrid. I really don't think that choosing Italian term for a skill name is so bad idea.

2) Counterstrike. Sorry to offend you, ANSOB, but it is best from "counter"-options.

3) From Arq's suggestions, Spiteful blow is better for a skill name, because it has less syllables ;-)

Stesso Temppo- I still think you could find a more Dark-ish name. Also, if the opponent strikes after you get an attack after his? What if you die? [Apologies if that is warhammer rules I forget suddenly]

You still get the attack, since it's supposed to be made as soon as the opponent misses his (by the way, as far as rules are concerned batching dice isn't factored in, so no mentioning that; besides, the things with more than one attack in Mordheim are rather rare outside of characters and such) - I'll be amending the text as soon as I'm out of my first week of class in order for it to read the way I'd like it to.

Stesso Tempo is out of question as far as I'm concerned. The fact that GW couldn't be damned to find a suiting name and had to rip off real-world words from different languages doesn't make it acceptable for us to do the same. Counterstrike, then.

Shout from the dark corner:

"Feint!"

followed by the sounds of a hurried retreat through the window.

Impossible. Dark corners never contain windows.

Unfortunately, that's practically right. Very rare to see a dark corner with a window, unless it's in a non patrolled area and one of the entrance points to the level.

*should stop playing Thied*

You don´t know my cellar flat, it´s completely possible to have a dark room with a window.

For example if there is a hedge directly in front of it. Or a wall. Or... err.... behind you! A three-headed monkey!

€: No, really, back on topic: I´d choose Feint over Counterstrike anytime. Hell, I´d even choose Blobbey Volley over Counterstrike anyday.

The reason why I refused Feint on previous page is, that it does not describe the manoeuver.

True. I presume we are all clear what a feint usually means, Canyu? ;) Well, an attack that isn't really an attack basically but a diversion. Not what this move is...

So we all agree with this very nice skill, but are still lacking a well suited name....

dict.leo.org told me:
retaliation
counterstrike (no, please not)
riposte (...not dark, I know)
strike-back (what does it think? - stupid program)
counterattack <---- I prefer this !!!
counter-charge (that is too much, isn't it?)
counter (as verb)

Of all the suggestions so far, I like Disdainful Strike the best...it carries an air of Druchii arrogance, a 'disdain' for such a lame attack that is capitalized on to attack the opposing model.

Yes, but it isn't disdainful, or a regular strike for that matter - that particular association carries images of the Druchii noble standing over a kneeling slave and backhanding him for having dared to speak in his presence.

Yes, or to sneer and do a careless blow, not a quick strike back, although I see where you are coming from. Retaliation is OK but lacks a second word perhaprs... CounterAttack is the most pbvious but is more likely to be whenever you get attacked by its sound. Oh, when will it end? ;)

None, so far. Why you asking? We're still discussing the name for this one.

This counter-something is in but so far nameless, none are out, then poison needs a revamp and we might need a Ld thing for the Noble [see A3]
Any other suggestions of names? Then either we make a poll, ask some more people, or just decide on a whim ;)

BTW, the disdainful bit was more intended to indicate a disdain for his own personal safety in his haste to get the attack in.

Ohh..yeah I didn't get that bit, heheh. Spiteful Blow would be my second choice then.
