Deserts of Khemri - new campaign and Druchii again

Post by Malman »

I was surprised myself when I decided to try the Druchii again, but after the last campaign I felt that it will be interesting to try them again. I decided to test 2 changes:
1) the beastlash is not -1S but +1AS
2) the slavehounds do not leave after beastmaster dies, the only stay in the camp and wait for a new one.

We play with a mixture of experienced and middle experienced playes and some newbies so I hope i will be able to have a rather high win ratio again.
We play scenarios and a special exploration table motivated by Khemri but we omit all water and shopping additional rules.

Battle 1 - Personal matters against The Beastmen

Folk of Pain
Katsuro Orgashi - noble, 2 daggers, RXB
Aiko Mondeki - lordling, 2 daggers RXB
Akiko Damiko - lordling, dagger, axe, RXB
Michiko Hareki - beastmistress, dagger, beastlash
Noburu Takama - corsair, 2 daggers, RXB
Jumiko Daisu - witch elf, dagger axe
Ichiro Maisara - shade, 2 daggers, RXB
Takai, Sendo - slavehounds
rating: 97

Beastmen
13 models including 2 ungor and 3 hounds of chaos
rating about 110

As the objective in this battle was to kill the enemy leader I was prepared to guard Katsuro and try to shoot the leading beast.
The beastmen ran as fast as possible towards us and we moved to an ancient watch tower cut into a high rock by some long lost civilisation.
Katsuro and his lordling accompanied by the shade and the corsair took position on the tower and the close combat specialists were left down.
The chaos hounds charged Sendo but only knocked him down, in the countercharge Noburu charged with a diving charge and Jumiko, Takai and Michiko charged the rest of the dogs.
Our shooters shot and removed one of the gors.
hen the main mass of beastmen came and the bray shaman flew and attacked katsuro. Both lordlings charged the shaman bud without efect. They finished him in the next round.
But the fight down was not so successful and the group was soon removed. With only four models on the table I gave up.

All my models recovered after the battle.

I rolled 113 which is 1 treasure and I tried to climb the column with Aiko who fell but got the treasure.

Battle 2 - Defend the oasis against Orcs and goblins

Katsuro Orgashi - noble, 2 daggers, RXB
Aiko Mondeki - lordling, dagger, axe, RXB
Akiko Damiko - lordling, dagger, axe, RXB, W2
Hanako Sukomi - sorcerress, daggers, RXB

Takai, Sendo - slavehounds

Greenskins
13 models including 11 orcs, goblin and squig
rating more than me

This scenario is simlar tol the classic defend the find.

I put my models around the central lake with Ichiro in the only elevated position. Two of the orcs failed their animozity test and ran forward, one of them was then sble to see and charge Sendo, but he was unable to hurt the dog.
Jumiko and Takai ran to help the dog and who could, shot without effect. Even the charge was harmless and the only result was knocked down Jumiko.
Then the dice decided to show their favour and after the front orcs charged, they were unable to do anything, even the Big Un could not harm the witch elf. And Sendo knocked down the shaman.
Next round Michiko, Noburu and the dogs charged and othes shot with result of three orcs OOA. The rest of the orcs attacked, but now we were not outnumbered, only Sendo was taken OOA by three orcs.
Another round made again a great spasm in the orcs lines and the greenskins decided to leave the board to us.

Aiko got W and S, Michiko got WS, Noburu Ld, Jumiko I and Ichiro BS.

Sendo recovered after the battle.

I rolled 666651 which is 5 treasures and 10*d6 gc rolled 3

Dishonested betrayers from Nagarythe
about 10 models
rating less than me

I write the report too long after the battle played, but I think that the reports of this extremely short campaign should be finished by this one, when we stood against the betrayers of our kind, against those who denied the true king Malekith.

The cowards positioned themselves on an elevated postion carved into the rocks, too far for our technically superior but short ranged repeater crossbows. We decided to advance and both our lordlings and Ichiro hid on a top of a ruined building and Michiko with her dogs moved towards the position of the betrayers.

Not brave enough to face our might the disgracefull cowards chose the weakest of their number, a red haired female novice, and sent her to certain death alone. She uncovered our three shooters and the bastards shot them and their two wounds didn´t help against critical successes. But Khaine didn´t think that our warriors should die so easily and let them only be knocked down or stunned.

Jumiko and the dogs charged the brassy female and the result was immediate and expected. But Takai the dog was thereafter left exposed to the arrows and so was taken out of action.

We already knew that Khaine didn´t want us to engage in shooting combat so we moved forward hidden behind rocks and didn´t expose ourselves much to the longbows of the betrayers. After some time we had Jumiko, Noburu and the remaining two dogs under the betrayers position with others able to move there next turn.

The cowards at last tried to put together the remnants of their elven heritage and valor and charged our team under their tower. But the result was catastrophic. From the four or five charges declared, two were unable to detect, where the enemy is and stayed in dismay on there position, one jumped but chose not the best target and so lost his possible diving attack bonus and one ran down the stairs carved in the rock and met with Jumiko Daisu. Their shooting got better point and removed the danger of our attack next turn, but was unable to put anybody out of action.
Superior warrior skills of druchii resulted in Jumiko defeating her opponent and Noburu withstanding the charge. In our turn Jumiko charged to help Noburu and removed the poor pretender of beeing elf immediately.
The faint heart of the shadow betrayers could not withstand the might of true elves and left as quickly as they could by decision and not by dice.

Katsuro got skill WS hunter, Hanako got A.

Takai recovered after the battle.

I rolled 4 treasures and won another 3 from the battle, at fletchers house I found 2 bows.

I should have next battle against the undead, but there was not enough time and the organiser was this year not very active in organising mordheim so for me the campaign was finished after the third battle. Well, never mind, Katsuro Orgashi will return.

The campaign was so short that I don´t feel the beastlash was tested enough. But even so it seamed like a good option. At last i was able to wound the orcs with beastlash.
