Hi!
I'm very new to Dark Elves but not new to mordheim.

I want to start DE Warband and I've already bought minis.

Here's my Starting roster:
Noble (Great Weapon, Helmet, Dagger) 100
Sorceress (Staff - not counted as weapon, Dagger) 45
Lordling (Sword, Dagger) 55
Lordling (Sword, Dagger) 55
Beastmaster (Beastlash, Helmet, Shield) 65

2 Shades (Repeater Crossbow, Dagger)
2 Slavebeasts
20GC Left

Next warriors I will hire:
one more Shade
one Witch Elf (Sword, Dagger, Helmet)
one more Slavebeast

Those are minis I've already bought. I could swap minis of lordlings with shades, witch would give me a 2 heroes with shooting weapons and more close combat henchen, witch is better idea. But my first idea was that lordlings are silent assasins with poisoned swords, and according to first rules of Dark Elves Warband Fellblades which were turned into Lordlings couldn't use shooting weapons.

my questions are:
1. why DE don't have throwing knives option?
2. can you use quick shoot with repeater crossbow so you can get 4 shoots in a turn? what else shooting combo can you use with repeater crossbow
3. can you use beastlash with shield?

Commets are welcome.

Hi. It seems that you tend to play Mordheim very WYSIWYG. I would not go so far. For example, Noble with Great Weapon loses advantage of his high Initiative, and without access to strength skills, he cannot get Strongman. Also, elves are fragile, so be very careful about putting your Noble into front lines of combat.

Lordlings are different from fellblades. Think of them rather like of mercenary champions. IIRC the reason why fellblades were replaced by lordlings was, that in the beginning, when we were promissed that GW will make our revision official, they required us to make the warband with available Warhammer minis. (That is also the reason for shift from CO beasthounds to dogs.)

To your questions:
1. If we are talking about this warband: http://www.druchii.net/viewtopic.php?t=64005 , then they have.
2. QuickShot with RXB is problematic. There are two possible answers:
a) No, you can not use QuickShot because RXB is not one of listed weapons (bow or crossbow)
b) Yes, you can use QuickShot, because RXB is a crossbow, and as the rule says, it will allow you to shoot twice per turn.
(The bonus here is that there is not the RXB -1 penalty to hit.) However, QuickShot does not double number of shots.
3. Yes, but note that in standard Mordheim rules, shields are not very useful.

Thanks!

About the shields. I know they normally sux but we made house rule that shield and a hand weapon gives extra +1Sv (like in previous version of WFB, but now we are likely to made it into 6+ ward save as in new warhammer). I like to see shields in mordheim.

And YES! I love the idea with throwing knives. So now my lordlings won't have repeater xbows but throwing knives (so there would be no Quick Shoot Combo problems at all).

Let's close this topic and put hire a link to that topic in the durchii specialist games section.

About Noble with Great Weapon. I have perfect mini to be a leader of my warband, so probably I wont change it. Also It would be something that will be special about this warband. And I'm sure he will earn lot's of EXP by beheading enemies who fall from poisoned darts or knives or fast hitting swords.

Personally from past experience, to make armour actually viable changing the Critical hit part so that after the roll of a 6 to wound, you need to roll a 5 or 6 really keeps those crits and constant armour ignoring effects to a min, and because of this armour seems to be alot more useful.
