The Talabec Border (the USA battle zone)

Post by Fingol darkwater »

Here's what the official GW website has to say about our battle zone. Here's a nifty little map of the whole campaign.

For starters, I'd just like to make a roster of who would be reporting battles in this zone so make yourselves known. Fluffwise, Tastyfish was toying with the idea of hunting down rogue Druchii and cultists throughout this campaign (in addition to sabatoging high elf efforts ;) ). So go ahead and specify if you're going to be a rogue or a hunter if that idea appeals to you. As far as gameplay is concerned though, we may want to get started with discussing some strategy.

Roster so far

I'll be reporting battles in the Talabec Border zone. As for my regular gaming group, I'll be fighting against Empire, Beasts of Chaos, and Wood Elves. I hope to make it to the local Battle Bunker to participate in the mega-battles.

Now, what kind of strategies can we implement to help the Dark Elf faction? (this is my first GW summer campaign)

Since no one has posted here yet besided Fingol and Enlight (fellow Chicagoan - W00T!), I cordially invite you to review some of the work we have been doing at Da Warpath. I am Goomb, greenskin Warlord of the Talabecland Borders. I will be leading the greenskins in this region.

I know that our battles will count against all other races; however, I would like to keep the communications going and try to incorporate your generals when possible (unless we really start collaborating). In fact, I have a pre-campaign fluff off against the Empire boys that is about to kick off. It should be fun, and please join if you wish.

The Green Tide is preparing to flood this area with troops and fluff, so I extend a hand to the dark, sinister skinnies in an effort to at least recognize your efforts in our fluff during this campaign.

I'm going to be very active, and I'm a rogue, as my fluff would suggest. ;)

I'm still banned from the local store and won't be playing until I move in late August.

Alright, I've done some poking around and this is what I've found. Here's Da Warpath topic for the Talabec Borders. They've also provided a list of locations on the map:

The Stone of Blood - A Herdstone
Vragthar's Monolith- a big rock you can see from miles around
The Headless Badger - An Inn
Mattengard - a village
An un-named Cave- just south of the un-named Manor
The Hanging Tree- A big (Beastman) Tree complete with Beastmen war trophies hanging from the limbs
The Tower of Moonrise - An Empire watchtower
An un-named town
A Fort
The Altdorf-Talabheim Road
The River Talabec

I think our priorities should be the monolith and the villages. The monolith may be a focus point for the winds of magic which we could exploit, and the villages would just have a bunch of stuff we could use.

Hmmm... Have you read the scenario for the Stone of Blood? It's something we'd definately want to hold on to, as well. Beyond that, I agree with you. I know I'm aiming for the Monolith, the Stone of Blood, and Mattengard with the Reavers.

Maybe we should make like Da Warpath, Asur.org, and, well, every other website and post threads for each zone, and not just the US?

I was hoping to leave that to others. Maybe take an example from my initiative (hint, hint :?: ). If that doesn't happen soon, someone from the mod team will get it set up.

I won't be moving until August 21 and I don't expect to be playing again until early September. Will there be anything left to do then???

Otherwise, I will cheer and offer tactical advice from back home. someone must defend Karond Kar.

I’m trying to get some life in the Northern Europe topic, but I think a change in title is needed for that thread.

Got it covered pal. The thing about these threads is that they will spring back to life once things get going. Until then it'll just be a couple of people deciding which location looks best/most tactical/shiniest.

I will be partaking in the war effort in the Talabec Border, I think I'll be going for the villages mainly, there are never enough slaves in our black arcs, after all, the monolith will be my second target

I'll be mainly facing Goblins, Dwarves, and Brettonians

I'll be playing. My local campaign has Orcs, Empire, Bretonnians, Dwarves, Vampire Counts, Chaos, High Elves, and Wood Elves.

I've not yet selected a name for my General.

Registration has gone live folks, y'all know what to do. Now's the time I think to decide where we should be based in this battle zone. My vote goes to the Stone of Blood, for the obvious Khaine-like implications of the name. Any other ideas?

I am at Talabec map and I will be fighting against Empire (my sweet, younger brother). I think that we should attack on Village, Fort and Road.

Excellent so far, the Druchii are doing pretty well for the first week. Just remember to write astounding battle reports ;)

After thinking it over one more time, my Reavers will be making camp by the Monolith. That way I can keep an eye on the winds of magic easier.
