Downloading the beta ... ugh ...

Oh my gawd... its 10GB.

What on earth were they thinking! Its downing it at about 20kb/s as well for some reason. It slowed down to this after an initial rate of 240ish kb/s. Why did it do that? Can anybody give me a tip on how to do it faster?

Also how long did it take you guys to down it?

...heat wants to smash things but he can't :cry:

P.S. I wish they did a similar thing to the WoW trail, which downs the basic files in 20 mins and just streams the rest as you're playing.

At least you've got that far, most of us haven't even been able to log in.

Yeah I can't log in to the site either. But you don't need to log in to down the thing, you just go to downloads and then go to down beta link and that gets you the client, and that then starts downing it.

Also 7% now... might finish just past midnight at this rate, worst case tomorrow afternoon...

Ah right, I see what stage your at now. mine took about 4-5 hours all in all but I got lucky I think. The main problem now I think is that your fighting with lots of people to download it at the same time.

Download from Fileplanet. It goes much faster and GOA sucks.

I’m also having problems downloading WAR with the EU downloader. GOA are a let down, maybe it’s worth going to the US servers if possible. The Lag would probably be terrible though.

Of course you need valid beta key to go through.
It's US client though, those needing EU one are stuck with GoA as far as I know.

I really hope they sort this before launch because at this rate the US and Oceanic servers will be happily up and running while the EU ones aren't. Which is not really fair at all. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait til launch.

Well that's what the beta is for isn't it? Getting stuff right before the launch, I mean its better for these problems to occur now rather then on the launch, when everybody logs in and causes a server overload.

Also 25% done for nearly all of yesterday... not impressed

I found an alternative to the EU downloader, which is this site

it comes in 7 parts. each are about ~1.5 Gig iv just started the 1st part now and the ETA is about 2-3 hours for me, so it could take 1-2 days to get the client, depending on your internet speed.

30% after 24 hours of downloading... you know what? I give up. Pure and simple case of cba.

/facepalm

I won't even get the game straight off (starting an MMO 10 days before freshers week is not a good idea =P)

But I'll be back...

At Christmas!! With the full version! muhahaha

My experience so far is a tribute to murphy's law. I got the download on about the 2nd of sept. Then decided to upgrade my motherboard and processor cause I needed to on the 4th. Had a bunch of problems getting on the net with my wireless adapter and hardline, and I froze at about 90% of the time during the windows loading frame. Took it in to be repaired since over the weekend my frustration was at its peak. Got it back and the tech said he had to format the hardrive and everything was gone, I thought ok, at least it works and I can download the beta again. Its been three days since then and something has always happened to cause the download to stop. First time was a windows update that restarted my pc at night and canceled the download, thats fine, its my mistake for forgetting to change the update time. Last two times I left it with less than 3 hours to go and when I get back from work, a windows error is up and the download was canceled. 300 minsutes to go.............

Oh and my dvdrom drives are not reading every game file in the dvd and cd's for pc games I put in, you know the whole "can't read file, error has occured while trying to change the name of file and move it to..." and updated drivers are not working so hopefully I get an email from HP letting me know how to slove it before the actual game comes out at release time so I can actually play it.

Got it downloaded. Now I'm getting an error saying that something like Critical Error- An error has occurred- Warhammer will not close.

Any ideas?

I tried installing on my other computers and they all worked fine. I then put in my older video card and got the error. I'm about 99% sure it has to do with system specs. Though my old Radeon 9600 series video card is supposed to be able to handle it, I have a feeling thats the issue.
