Hi Everyone
I have been playing GW games for about fifteen years. I started with Mordheim, then got an Eldar army for 40K, and started playing Warhammer with a High Elf army in 2002. I got a Skaven army in 2003, and began playing Dark Elves about three years ago. I now mainly play Dark Elves, partially because I don't like the changes to the other armies in their current edition/army books. I am currently playing an escalation league with a bunch of my friends, in which we started at 500 points, and every time a player loses, he adds 20% to his points for future battles, with the caveat that once a unit has been purchased, it must remain in the army (but may be upgraded or reduced). I started with 20 crossbowmen, a level 2 sorceress, and 5 warlocks (both crossbow units have shields, for exactly 500 points). When I finally lost a game I added a few more warlocks and standards/musicians to the crossbows, such that when I lost a second game I could drop the warlocks to get a hydra with breath at 720. Now I am at 864 with two bolt throwers, and next loss I will likely add five cold one knights. Opponents have Daemons of Chaos (mostly nurgle), Dwarfs, Beastmen, Lizardmen, Warriors of Chaos, Empire, and Brettonia. My friend who plays Daemons and I are tied for the most wins at the moment. I also have a fairly decent 2500 point list I like to use, which I will post later in the appropriate section. I was able to keep it almost the same as it was with the last army book, so I was happy about that.

Hi, Tim, welcome to D.net.
Your escalation league seems to be a great autobalance. Except that I would make it +100pts rather than +20% pts, which can come quickly off balance in larger games.
Oh, and congratz for the excellent results.

Hi.
Quick observation on the army:
Hydras do wel. Against hords.
Knights need to get the chargenof and have another unit supportibg them to be effective.
a unit of 25 executio ers in a standard d formation willnearn their points.
Great weapon shades are viable again but 2 hand weapo. Shades are pretty good too.
Chariots need to be in groups or assisting another unit but are still fun to kill things dead with

The store owner wanted to do the 20% way. If we do another one we will probably start at 500 again, but go to 600 and then +200 points each time. As for the balance, the more experienced players (mostly) do better and so the extra points for the loser is more balanced than it otherwise would be. I had to work harder to lose my first battle than I have worked to win almost any other game, but that was more the hopelessness of the other player than anything else... maybe at over three times the points of another player he'll get an honest victory, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. If nothing else even hundreds will get rid of the goofy army comp percentages.
