Amiroth´s revenge

Post by Amiroth »

A well-tended leather saddle creaced under the rider while he corrected his position. Amiroth looked at the army behind him for awhile, then he turned back to watch the valley in front of them, especially the large city, located down the river by the sea. A white pegasus, on which he rode, glanced down as calm as his master, despite the long waiting. Amiroth rested his eyes on the city, it's beautifully decorated buildings and a line of noble sailing ships skirting the shore, that seemed to continue forever.
It was all going to change, very soon and very violently. Amiroth felt no pity for the town and it's people, in fact, the city earned all the hatred he was going to shed upon it. He and his troops had been betrayed, left on their own 15 years ago. In 15 years, a lot of hatred had been gathered.

It all began when Amiroth and the fleet he commanded were ordered to build a fortified base into Naggaroth, on the lands of the Dark Elves. The whole navy was ambushed and sunk, the troops that managed to land, escaped into the forests, defending themselves from the chasers. The only hope they kept, was that soon there would be auxiliary troops arriving... They came, by accident and almost two decades late.

So violent was the hunting frency of the Dark Elves that only few survived and with a terrible cost. To survive in the lands of an enemy, Amiroth's troops had to take the role of the beast and hunter, to be even more cunning and savage than the enemy. They had survived, but not one of them was the bright-eyed and honest youngster that once left Ulthua. They had sacrificed their opponents in the name of Khaine, killed all in the villages, excluding some valuable prisoners. They had tortured their prisoners to find out the plans of the enemy. None would have believed in the lands of the pure and honest Ulthua what they had to go through just to survive in Naggaroth.

The worst was still to come. After 15 horrible years of suffering, when they finally got home to the green meadows of their own province, it came out that the lands had been taken from them to the possession of another families by dirty political games. While Amiroth had been gone, had the status of the family weakened, when most of the military forces had been elsewhere. The land or the wealth didn't mean much to him, but when a young and lankish nobleman arrived into the camp of the troops and claimed the command, making a remark that there was a nice pensionary position waitinf for Amiroth, it went all black in his eyes and he felt the power of Khaine beating inside him. The whole plot suddenly cleared to him, why the ships hadn't come and why the ambush had been so well-planned: it was all because of the politics back home. Amiroth wrenched his sword. With one slash the elven warrior dropped the head of the stunned nobleman. He then lifted the body above him shouting to his troops: "Was this the sake of our companions to die for, to allow idiots like this to continue their struggles for power?"
His troops didn't answer, but the silence told it all. It was about time to pay for the blood of their dead companions.

Amiroth gave their prisoners one change to desice whether to join his troops or to die. In an hour the army started to march towards the nearest harbour of an enemy family.

Amiroth awoke from his thoughts when the bells of the city started to boom: it was midday. He turned his head and looked at his troops, especially the two beautiful sorceresses that had just joined the troops avoiding sudden death from his blade. In a normal situation it would have bothered Amiroth to keep the sorceresses free, but Khaine had filled his whole being with revenge. The sorceresses had been tortured, for hours, but they didn't reveal any information. It was more like they enjoyed the measures.
One of the sorceresses lifted her wine glass as if to salut Amiroth, but the elven warrior didn't know that a slender hand far back in Naggaroth responded to the salut, not only him.
