I have been experimenting on nmm for the plate armor on the cold one
knights the executioners, and some characters. I have been starting off
with Leviathin grey from I-kore. (codex gray or the valleo equivilant would
bee the same) I have been mixing 50/50 leviathin grey(lvg) with acrilic
extender for a base coat. I then add Valleo white to achive a 70%
grey&extender to 30% white This I delute 50/50 with water. I paint this on
the ridges and then take a dry brush and, while the paint is still wet, use it
to blend, in long strokes, the colors. I then repeat this step with 60/40
grey/white, then 60/40 white/grey, then 70/30 white gray, and finaly 100%
white. Here is the kicker (although you might have already known this).
White, when mixed with a minute ammount of blue is brighter than pure
white in the northern hemisphere! So i mix 90/10 white Coraline blue( ice
or lightning blue or the valeo equivilant will work) and paint the final
highlight lines with this. I find that there is a definate brightness from the
blue-white as compared to the white. I dont mix the blue-white with water
and do not blend it with the brush. What do you think? If I could be told
how (and if) I can put pictures in my message I would gladly include an
example of the process and a sample of the finished product.
