Making a DOW Ogre regiment....

Post by Haplo »

Okay I want to model a unit that "represents" my 5 ogres with great weapons and a standard and champion.

I don't want the unit to consist entirely of ogre models I was thinking something like this:

a group of monsters/slaves fighting alongside the army. they will be in chains and will be followed by 2 beastmasters, just for looks!

I was thinking about he following models:

Stone troll (the one with the big rock above it's head)

Troll from the LOTR game (the one with the hammer)

the old chaos special character "Scyla" (I once saw a guy using this model for his strigoi vampire!)

maybe a ratogre model or a minotaur?

Finaly an ogre model, but I don't know if the mordheim model would be better than the golfags ogres?

any ideas?

That's a great idea, using a little bit of modelling and some chain that you can get dirt cheap at jewlers you could create a great unit and nice and fluffy too. If you don't mind me asking what's the theme of the rest of your army?
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore --
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."

My avatar is kind of hypocritical isnt it?

Well that's a fair point, it might be a little weird that minatours, Ogres, Giant spiders and chaos spawn are not only fighting along side each other but they have the same stats.

That's a pretty good idea ..gonna use it for my Karond Kar themed army.

Just wanted to add that you should consider taking miniatures of other companies:

Look at that one for example -just bought one because he looks so cool:

I like! Does it come painted exactly like in the pic or unassembled like GW products? Either way it's still a nice looking orge model

The miniature comes unpainted ,but i actually don't know if it is assembled or not...i don't even know if it consists of several pieces or only one.

The miniature comes from a company called Heresy Miniatures:
