Great Cave Squig

Post by Ant »

I'm thinking of using a night goblin on a great cave squig in my orc and goblin army. I've decided to use a fanatic (the old one flying through the air) and/or the herder with the squigpipes for the goblin but I have absolutely no idea what to use for the squig. The only thing I can think of is the new Gobbla model but I don't really like that so I want something else.

Any ideas?

Have you seen there is a new Giant Squig Model?
Else if you don't want that or the Gobla model I reckon you be needing to make your own from some sort of putty or clay.

I actually think that the Gobbla model is one of the coolest models in the entire Warhammer RAnge. I would get that one!!

But how are you gonna arm your gobbo hero I wonder?

Backstabbers Blade and the Brimstone Babble perhaps?

Found the pic of the new model. Decided it's pooh. Bak to square one.

Hmm, I wonder if my modelling skills are good enough to make one. Somehow I doubt it.

Any non GW models I can use? Perhaps something I can use as a base for a major conversion?

Well the one Great Cave Squig that I have seen around here the guy used, I think, a ping pong ball that he had cut a hole in to get a good round shape out of it. It wasn't too complicated though so I can't really say it may be up to your standards. There was a large fin going down it's back that was made from I think Tyrnid pieces or something that has a carapace like that.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Have you checked the 'classics' 40k range? There used to be a range of squigs for the Space Orks (they were about the size of a Goblin, but could probably be expanded on with green stuff while keeping the faces).

Well i quite like the new model, but if you don't like it i know one of the regulars at my local GW made one out of Gobbla and then built up around around it leaving only gobbla's face area showing and the rest he sculpted.
It looks really cool (and very very big), but the guy who made it is one of the best sculpters i've ever seen (he made the squig for one of the staff, but half of his own beastmen army is completely sculpted.) Anyway, i'm sure you could make it out of gobbla with minimal sculpting to look cool if you were prepared to spend some time on it :).
