Re: Plog The Disgraced House of Naggarond - Valodrius Hearts
Absolutely awesome work, as always. I remain a strong supporter of your subdued painting style.
I really like that haughty sneer on Valodrius face that just screams: how dare you bleed on my beautiful sword!
I'm looking forward to the rest of the new dark elves getting 'loserised'.

Cheers for the comments guys!
It turns out that these pictures have proven to be a wee bit more popular than I thought. Because of the amount of people viewing them my monthly bandwidth allowance has been used up... already!
However all pictures are available on my blog site if you just cannot wait to see what all the fuss is about.
In the meant time I have another account and decided to whack these up:
The Cauldron of Blood
The Cauldron of Blood is quite a centerpiece miniature. I'm still working my way through the extra's that come with the set (Blood Wrack medusa is almost complete).
Shadowblade Master of Assassins.
I'm a little sad that Shadowblade has lost his age old ability to hide in your opponents units, but they have made up for it by releasing this amazing new miniature. I feel like i've only really scratched the surface of what this miniature is capable of - I need to paint another, then possibly three more.
Although these models will not be joining the Black House they were great practice runs. Seeing the kit up close has inspired a few ideas.

Cheers T.D. I've just read your battle report . I love the two levels of description - the story and the factual reporting of the battle. Very inspiriing.
Bloodwrack Medusa
Kharbdyss - A swarm? A tide? A...lot?
Black Vine Executioners
The Lost and the Damned Warlocks
A big image dump! I hope to return here and add the back history of the characters but it can be found on the blog (link below) for now.

Amazing models, as I've come to expect from you. Especially the subtle freehand on the executioners' cloaks and banner is simply stunning.

Great work and incredible productivity. I can only deduce some pact has been made with the dark lord of murder.
May I ask as how you did the flesh tones on the witch elves guarding the cauldron and the realy gory blood in it?
I'm a huge fan of your snow bases, but the other ones are fantastic as well. Keep inspiring us!

Re: Plog The Disgraced House of Naggarond - The Midnight Bla
Shadowblade Master of Assassins.
Cults of the Naggarothii: Assassins.
Midnight Black.
It is well known that the Elves long ago attained mastery over the winds of magic that ebb and flow through the great weave of reality. All beings of that race is in some way touched by that warping influence and all are capable to minor magics; the simple summoning of a spirit to heal a wound, an elemental to fill the sail of a boat, or the drawing of a Djinn to immolate an enemy, are common practices amongst their kind. The Death Cults of the Naggarothii make use of these minor magics, none more so than the Assassins known as the Midnight Black.
Each Cult has its own preferred method of death, some esoteric and most eccentric. The Druchii's natural competitiveness forcing each Cult to ever more ostentatious uses of their skills. The Pale Seers famously boast they can poison the surface of a mirror, so that the reflection of the viewer poisons him. The Scarlet Kiss make use of their many whore assassins to entice the chosen victim into sexual congress, and then dispatched.
The Midnight Black make use of ensorcelled cloaks that allow the assassin to bodily dissipate into shadow. The mental disciplines enabling this practice are the culminations of decades of training, forgetting the self, completely dissolving one's anima into the shade between life and death. Once this has been achieved the Assassin may move between shadows, disappearing and reappearing at will. They become living shadows with all the fanaticism and killing finesse of Naggaroth's most supreme murderers.
It's been a little while since I was able to indulge in my beloved Druchii host. I managed to buy this model for less than a fiver and I couldn't resist spending a little me time with Shadowblade. Because I don't like playing named characters I use Midnight Black as a Khainite Assassin with a Giant Blade and Manbane (i've used him a couple of times with scout units - I love our new book).
Being the paranoid narcissist Cynath is, he cannot get enough assassins to help dispatch rivals. The Midnight Black was found in the Troll Country infiltrating the Northern Empire. He is tasked to kill the Emperor, Karl Franz, by the mad Naggarothi noble Blitzerian. However unlikely the task is, once a contract has been made with a temple it cannot be broken. Midnight Black reckons that the method and timing of such an assassination is his choosing alone and has thrown in his lot with Cynath for the time being.

Re: Plog The Disgraced House of Naggarond - The Midnight Bla
The Siren Of Pavona
Margesse, a minor settlement North of Pavona was sacked by the Druchii Brigands of Despair, who themselves were put to the sword by the traveling army of Robuto Del Mare. The former settlement has not been re founded, plagued as they are with a brood of creatures unleashed by the corsair band. Most prominent amongst these horrors is the Bloodwrack Medusa - Siren. The creature is thought to reside in the caverns of Brest, luring the unwary to death with a beautiful song of old Nagarythe.

Some very nice work on both Shadowblade (love the cloak detailing) and the Medusa.
Nice basing too.

AMAZING! These paint jobs are phenominal. I am inspired. The executioners are probably the best executioner paint job I have seen so far, and blending the reds on the executioners and shadowblade into blues is just awesome. Are the first shadowblade and medusa WIPs of the seconds or different models?

Re: Plog The Disgraced House of Naggarond - The Midnight Bla
I will summarise my thoughts on the above figures with three words: Su Freakin' Perb!
Seriously, the Executioners are wonderful...the subtle shading on the banner and the cloaks is excellent as well as the swirly doodads which are really tricky to get to look right and these look more than right. Shadowblade's cloak is terrific, largely for the same reasons. I'll echo Rowena by saying that your Medusa is the best one I've seen, I think. One of the things that I really like about yours is that you've painted the drips as water and I think that comes off much better than gloopy blood which I never really care for.
Well Done!

That's silly! Playin with little statues, pretendin' they're fightin'! Why not just round up a bunch of real goblins and lettem' whack it out?

Cheers guys.
Gerner - wait no longer! Check out my Wood Elves thread in this forum.
T.D. - Thanks man. I have an insatiable appetite when it comes to good Druchii content. Your stuff really gets the imagination flowing.
Wiggen - Ha, yeah this was one of the first forums I posted on.
Brennan - Thank you. I have another two to paint for myself but I'm not sure how to paint them.
Lion of flanders - Cheers man. With all that free space the executioners beg for a little freehand (and you'd know all about that).
MangoPunch - They are different models. I've tightened up my technique since I painted the last batch of miniatures.
Rowena - Thank you. Freehand design is something I want to improve on. Araloth gave me a great opportunity to create a nice delicate design.
Amboadine - No problem. Thank you for replying.

Re: Plog The Disgraced House of Naggarond - The Gorgoneion
La Belle Dame Sans Merci. A Ballad by John Keats
I.
O WHAT can ail thee, knight-at-arms,
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge has wither’d from the lake,
And no birds sing.
II.
O what can ail thee, knight-at-arms!
5
So haggard and so woe-begone?
The squirrel’s granary is full,
And the harvest’s done.
III.
I see a lily on thy brow
With anguish moist and fever dew,
10
And on thy cheeks a fading rose
Fast withereth too.
IV.
I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful—a faery’s child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light,
15
And her eyes were wild.
V.
I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too, and fragrant zone;
She look’d at me as she did love,
And made sweet moan.
20
VI.
I set her on my pacing steed,
And nothing else saw all day long,
For sidelong would she bend, and sing
A faery’s song.
VII.
She found me roots of relish sweet,
25
And honey wild, and manna dew,
And sure in language strange she said—
“I love thee true.”
VIII.
She took me to her elfin grot,
And there she wept, and sigh’d fill sore,
30
And there I shut her wild wild eyes
With kisses four.
IX.
And there she lulled me asleep,
And there I dream’d—Ah! woe betide!
The latest dream I ever dream’d
35
On the cold hill’s side.
X.
I saw pale kings and princes too,
Pale warriors, death-pale were they all;
They cried—“La Belle Dame sans Merci
Hath thee in thrall!”
40
XI.
I saw their starved lips in the gloam,
With horrid warning gaped wide,
And I awoke and found me here,
On the cold hill’s side.
XII.
And this is why I sojourn here,
45
Alone and palely loitering,
Though the sedge is wither’d from the lake,
And no birds sing.
So what have you done with yourself since 2012? Have you had a child? Moved house? Bought a house? Gone to University? Graduated and found your first job?
Well, I've finally completed my unit of Cold One Knights - The Gorgoneion. Here is a link to the initial discussion:
