I haven't been in a painting competition before, how does it work?

I really enjoyed the previous one, but me joining would probably depend on how much time I would have - school's been pretty hectic for me these days. And I guess on the theme as well, if I could use some of the things I have been planning to do anyway.
But I would definitely love to join if it were even remotely possible. :)

I'd certainly love to see one, and will take part if the theme matches up with what's on my "to paint" list.

The work project I've been on has been delivered, so barring any odd jobs coming up I'm on my summer holiday. 8)

Hmm, have to start considering my options, but I'm in.

I will participate if I can, though I have zero expectation of winning in any way. :)

I've been doing this too long to be a novice, but not nearly good enough to compete with some of the work I see on here. But it's a challenge and I want to improve, so hopefully this will help.

It will also continue to prod me to continue painting, and maybe even get my damn plog going that I keep meaning to start.

Have a doubt:

The "before" photo must
- show the miniature before any paint is applied (including if applicable, all conversion made, green stuff used.)

Does it matters if it is with a base coat? (white, black or grey) Cause I have just painted it (before the topic was announced) :S

Same - I have a bunch of minis that are primed but not painted. Would those be OK?

Does it have to be an avatars of war mini? I don't have any at the moment, but got an idea using GW minis I've got already :)

I can answer that one - from the post announcing the contest:

4. Your entry MUST BE A DARK ELF - Anything goes! It can be from any gaming system or supplier so long as it fits in a fantasy theme (no 40k unless clearly converted for Fantasy). Converted or scratch built models are allowed and could earn you extra points in the eyes of the voters, but stock standard off the shelf models are fine.

Just to check, the "enter your Avatar in one of the two categories" line doesn't really mean our actual avatars on the battlefield, does it? What about people who already have one of those?

Also, must it be really a dark elf, or anything for a dark elf army? For example, would a hydra be ok?
Or would any of my lost colony elves, who don't really call themselves dark elves and under no circumstances would cheer for Malekith? :D

Anyway, I really hope I'll find enough time to join, this sounds like great fun. :)
