Love the color scheme and well executed. Looks like you are using true metallic paint with some purple ink? Can't quite tell but really cool effect.

What are you going to do for the bases?

My only point of criticism is I think the blue should be highlighted up to a lighter shade on the plumes and banner.

Agree with everyone above, your models look very sinister! How did you create that look?

They're lovely, very dark and sinister just like they should be. I look forward to seeing more, I think these are the models that look even better in an army of the same colour scheme.

Thanks guys.

Basing will be an ash waste with rubble and reeds topped with a bit of snow. The white snow will contrast with the depth of all the dark paint.

Here's the formula.
Armour: base coat - amethyst purple - metallic purple from coat d' arms.
Black ink - I'm using vallejo paints for everything else
Highlight - enchanted green - metallic green from coat d' arms

Trimming: I used heavy charcoal with a black ink over the lot.
Inner capes: heavy violet and a highlighted mix

Plumes: turquoise with a black and torquoise wash aver the top. That's why a few of them need further highlighting, I agree

Thanks again for the comments.

Well spoiler alert. My warriors are going to be blackguard minis with extended spears and shields. Something about the heavy armour appeals to me. Malekith is also making an appearance in this army too.

Very nice paintjob. Round bases don't look bad for them to be honest.

These look fantastic.

For the highlight, do you do enchanted green first then metallic green, or a mix of both? I've been experimenting with doing armor with both metallic and non-metallic, and it just ends up looking "dirty" to me.

And second question, why'd you choose green for the highlights and not purple? I think it looks great, but I was just curious.

Very nice!
Seeing this made me remember one idea about trying vallejo metal medium for similar effects.
Looking forward for more updates.

Thanks a heap guys,
Lord Hajjij - don't get confused with the green. The colour I am using for the highlights is called enchanted green made by coat d' arms, which is a metallic green. Its very confusing coz there was the old citadel colour enchanted green but I don't use that. Just metallic green on top of the metallic purple. Coat d' arms was the supplier of all of the old GW paints including the metallic colour range.

I tried non metallic looks in the past and I had the problem looking too neat. They never looked metallic just coloured. So I got over it really quick. Takes too long to perfect.

I did the green highlight as I was inspired by an old mini of malekith, teclis and some other elven goon. Malekith was all painted dark purple and the "magic" he was stirring was green and the glow was highlighted with the green. If I can find it I'll post it.

From there I decided to give it a go. I wanted a very dark palette to work with and I wanted to speed through them. (Yes these are speed painted, sort of) I use a lot of black and dark purple, dark brown for the hafts and a contrasting green and turquoise

I have the metal medium and it works but not as well as you would hope, but Vallejo does have a range of metallics you can use or check out coat d' arms

I'll get into a dreadspear for you guys

Thanks for the reply Duffman! I might give this a shot with a test mini using a blend of Leadbelcher + Naggaroth Night, Black Ink, then a highlight with Runefang Steel + Warpstone Glow. I'm a huge fan of purple+green color schemes, and these pictures are inspiring because I was too timid to try a dual-colored armor.

My palette was specific enough that I didn't have to mix paint. I'm not familiar with the latest GW paint. I use Vallejo. Try to keep it simple. That's what I did and it turned out fine. I have finished a dreadspear now, bu5 I just gotta shoot it and compress it... Standby...
