steed-mounted sorceress - which model do you use?

Post by toots »

OK so I've dispensed with by idea of using Dark Magic and will now be having a go at using a CoT sorceress on a dark steed. several of you must do this, but which model do you use? i've got the one with the sword in her left hand and the kinda which elf hair. think she originally came on one of the old cold ones. think i'll have to file between her legs so that she fits on a horse.

any photos?

cheers,

wroot

I have 2 mounted Brettonian sorceresses, and 2 Ice Queens of Kislev that I use as mounted sorceresses. Not sure if either is still in print but both are available on eBay. For the Bret sorceress, I cut off the top of her staff and glued a skull on. The Ice Queen I used as-is.

You can see a pic of the old Bret sorceress (with the skulll, sadly, broken off) on my PLOG, which is linked below.

She looks kind of lousy in that pic, partly because she was painted forever ago and I didn't know what I was doing, and partly due to the wear and tear of heavy usage.

The parts for the Dark Elf Sorceress from the Black Dragon kit are easily available on ebay.

As are single plastic Witches.

As are Wood Elf Sisters of the Thorn.

All good choices IMO.

I think you're confused. We are neither good, nor men.

Of course he's confused - he's clearly a follower of Slaanesh...

oo err missus? Carry On wargaming? note i said 'file' between her legs!

anyway, i'm struggling to source a horse from the UK/european bitz sites and also druchii.net. if you've got one spare (doubtful!) i'll reward you handsomly! i have spare cold ones, old-style crossbowmen, the skull staff waving sorceress... all sorts!

crappy photos, sorry guys - my iPhone i had to give it back to my old place of work!!!

not sure whether i'll keep the morathi head, would prefer to use a witch elf head i think but she looks pretty good right now.

big thanks to my main man taggart for sending me the steeds for the chariot, easily the best steeds around. i owe you one!

the morathi model's lower legs are actually attached to the pegasus model, so i had to use wild rider legs. seems to have worked pretty well. green stuff has given her knee joints! green stuff in the saddle so she sticks (not taking her off, she's fixed now). also green stuff under the raised hoof to give it some rigidity.

yeah i'm really pleased with it, i'll be casting some death magic or... other stuff with her! CoT and obsidian lodestone! hah! take that warriors of chaos!

Kudos on the conversion, great job! :)
Though I have to say I never really liked the Morathi model.
I was also wondering what models to use. I guess I will use the lower body of black dragon sorceress and the head of a witch elf (the hair of the sorceress is pretty bad).

OK, so here she is, fresh from getting peppered with arrows but successfully purple-sunning two treemen, and spirit leeching an owl to death. hah!

i'm naming her Godiva, for obvious reasons.

again, props to taggart for making it all possible!
