I thought that too, but I wonder - the light is damn hard, but it's coming from a low winter angle (see shadow length:intensity of light ratio) and there are no leaves in the trees/hedges. I came to the conclusion it's just a stark, hard winter sun, and the chap/chapess inside is probably pretty glad to have the power armour on.
