Dark Elf Blood Bowl stadium
Hi everyone,
I am a long time lurker but feel it time to start posting. I've recently returned to the hobby - mainly Bloodbowl, but the End Times have got me back into WFB - although I am awaiting the 9th edition before going too crazy.
I found myself having a lot of spare time (which sadly isn't the case now, so progress has stalled a little) so fancied building a stadium and painting up a Dark Elf team. I've taken a lot of inspiration from this site and spend far too many hours scouring google for conversion ideas and building!!
To that end I figured I'd post a few pics and seek advice and constructive criticism for my stadium and team.
Here are a few pics of building the more elaborate dug out for the home team. I've used a few layers of polystyrene sheet to build up the height. Hirst Arts tiles have been used for the base and floor/steps. Balsa Wood and card for the walls.
My plan is to use the one section below for reserves, the two upstairs sections for dead and KO'd. I may put some sort of bench seating on the lower level, with some kind of table/stretchers up top. There is final section on the ground level which I am debating using for coaching staff/cheerleaders or re-rolls. Any suggestions welcome.
Here is the dug out - it is difficult to show up due to the black undercoat - i'll get round to painting it with a base coat soon enough. I'll see how it looks before embellishing it. The colour will be blue grey (as shown on the stand area) - but I am in need of a few suggestions about the colour of the middle bit - made from the corrugated card. I want something contrasting and dark-elfy but am drawing a blank.
Here is the side stand - i've two, one for each end. Pretty basic, shall ponder further weathering when the stadium is together. I shall do some advertising boards, but these will need to wait until its all pretty much assembled.
As always suggestions/comments welcomed.

Re: Dark Elf Blood Bowl stadium
I'm much bigger into Blood Bowl than Warhammer, so it's nice to see others who are as well. I am fortunate to live in an area with an active tourney scene for Blood Bowl so I enjoy those a lot.
GW is missing out with their Specialist Games. I would never have gotten into Fantasy if not for BB, and I know I'm not the only one. It's a "gateway drug" into the hobby, which can be a very daunting proposition to the uninitiated. Sales of those games may not be super on their own, but they lead to sales of their flagship stuff. How they don't see that is beyond me.
Anyway, can't wait to see your finished stadium, looks really neat so far.

Can't wait to see how this turns out, lots of potential. Why did you decide to leave the back unfinished?

Re: Dark Elf Blood Bowl stadium
Hi,
Thanks for the warm welcome and kind words.
I agree that BB is one of the all time classic games and a great gateway into the other systems. I was a long term Undead player (back in the day it was just Undead!!) and used the old Skeleton Horde to make some BB skellies! I later moved on to a Mercenary Empire army along the lines of the Grudgebringers from the Shadow of the Horned Rat game and then Vamped up my old Undead when Vampire Counts came along. After that I went a little crazy and did an Emperor’s Children Army because i thought it would be fun to paint pink….
I’ve always liked Dark Elves - so after getting an iPad - I rediscovered Blood Bowl on the App, and thought i’d try a Dark Elf team out; which got me back on to the miniatures again….
Anyway, back on topic…. I am glad people think it looks Dark Elfy - which is what I was aiming for at least.
There will be only one ‘nice dug out’ - I am making the away team one a squalid hovel - might try and make it dungeon like by making stairs down to something, although that is for a later date. I’ve got 2 stands done and painted, an end zone ‘Grand Stand’ which I will paint up and post in due course - that’s got an interesting little feature…..
I’ve also gone a little crazy and done a tower for the corner piece - I was thinking of using it as the turn marker for the home team. I don’t really fancy building another one though, so am pondering what to do for the away team; which I think should be suitably less than impressive…. I guess it will all make more sense when the pics go up.
In the mean time i’ll focus on getting the dug out painted - I am thinking a bright, somewhat luminous/bright magical hue sort of effect on the ridged bit (the bit made from corrugated card, if the pic shows it up) - I just think if I paint it all grey it won’t look right. Sadly I am way out of ideas at the moment… any suggestions??

Re: Dark Elf Blood Bowl stadium
Here is my first lineman - took a few repaints of the yellow and the clothing; struggled not to make it too blue, so I elected for a blue-grey. I don't think the camera does the painting justice. I think it reflects the classic Darkside Cowboys look! Its a Dark Eldar Kabalite with arms and head from an old Dark Elf warrior.
no idea why the second one ended up on the side....

Re: Dark Elf Blood Bowl stadium and Darkside Cowboys
Hi folks!
A while since the last update - the stadium itself has 2 stands, an end zone grandstand, 1 middle section and a corner piece 'tower' made up. I'll post some pics when they are painted up -- shall then possibly ad streaky grime, bracken and snow. Then I might ad some decor along the lines of shield logos, hooks and other nastiness.
I'll waffle on about that when the pics are up - I'm in need of a little inspiration/motivation to get it finished!!!
That said, I've had more fun painting the team.....
This is the team so far ---- 2 witch elves, pretty straight forward conversions, hand-swaps and weapon snips. I've gone for a purple skin tone, which I think makes them look slightly more evil.....
This one isn't the clearest of pic -- the pose is a bit awkward to photograph; should have stuck the head on before painting the skin!!
This is just going to be a lineman - I liked the bits, and thought I'd use the beast master head!!
Made this one into a Kicker...
He isn't quite as purple as the image suggests; need to figure out a better way to photograph!!
I've got 2 runners on the go - semi completed/painted, and 2 blitzers, 2 more lineman (almond the line of the first). Hopefully I'll get them done soonish!! I think i'll paint stuff to use in my starting line up -- so I can actually get a game!!

Nice update. Good colour scheme for a BB team.
