Malekith Conversion

Post by Lord Zarox »

So I decided to convert my own Malekith model since the current one is pretty hideous in my opinion, and there are no models for his other mount options. Its effectively converted from the dreadlord from the black dragon kit, using other parts from other sprues I had lying around. I plan on magnetising the torso, so I can interchangeably use him mounted on a black dragon or on foot which you can see what the two options look like below. Eventually, I'll probably do a cold one mount for him too.
Most of the parts came from the black dragon kit, but some things like the legs and one of the arms came from the dark eldar kabalite warrior kit. The head and the cloak both came from wood elf kits (wild riders and glade guard), and the sword is a draich blade attached the sword handle from the black dragon kit. Finally the little magical looking bolt in his other hand is actually a small tassel taken from the dark eldar raider kit.
I can't wait to get this guy magnetised and painted!

Nice job so far.
Looks great on the Dragon.
Might want to look at the on foot pose a little, could just be the angle of the photo but looks like he is lifting his foot a little too high. Maybe bend the leg down a touch.

Thanks for the feedback! Now that you mention it, the leg does look a little off. I'll see what I can do...it may involve tearing the legs off the base and repositioning them.

Very nice!
I have been hoping GW to release a new Malekith model for long so I could buy and paint. Seems it can be converted very well :)
I agree on the leg but maybe it could look more natural if he was climbing a hill? You could build a hill on its base up far and adjust to his pose I think.

Could we get some pics of him from behind (dismounted) attached and detached? I'm working on a Malekith now on foot but I'd also like to be able to magnetize him for mounts. Looks great!
