The ruins are bought. Also seperately, but from the same manufacturer. For the statues I combined the hooded monk figure with dragons teeth, which are probably meant as more modern or sci-fi vehicle blockers. Note on the pictures you might notice bullet holes ;)

I should have known this wood happen. Beware all ye who make forest terrain.

These dryads rushed out the battlestricken forests, falling upon the unsuspecting Druchii and Asur locked in feud. Animated deadwood, possessed by elven spirits, newly cut from the tree with leaves of gold and red or long since rotten, dark and sickly in appearance from laying in bogs.

Generally bases need more highlight, as well as leaves and eyes on the dryads, etc. These were a secret project suddenly appearing on the battle table a fateful day in December, and so was painted to at least qualify for tabletop standard. Just never got around to taking any pictures before now. As with many of my miniatures, the intention is rather clear, but my need for change of work is also very dominant. I will get back to these sometime.

The wizardy Branchwraiths in particular are only half done, though the champions aka nymphs are up to par with the unit.

Enjoy.

Some lovely work there and some nice inspiration for me in regards to basing my trees.
Really nice job so far.

Wow, those dryads look awesome! What are the non-GW dryad models in the bunch?

fantastic unit you have there - really nice work. There is so much detail to look at.

@malys The non-GW dryads are metal models from a Spanish firm called Tale of war. I'm using them as unit champions. The wizards are conversions. :)

And someone to join the dryads in battle. BurĂ¡rum

Treeman and Treewoman Ancient! Both are classic ultraforge miniatures, with additions of my own. The scary-looking one was not nearly as tall as needed, and far too big as a 40x40 model like treekin. I stocked him up on some resin bases and gave him branches like my terrain.

The female Ancient needs more paint and proper basing and moss to break the monotony of wood colour, even with the added silver highlights. I looked for a staff, but realised an ancient elven column might have some magical properties, and I like the thought of her just uprooting the thing and using it.

Some of the images showing the work in progress are not the best, but the only ones I have. Enjoy.

First off:

HOLY CRAP THAT LOOKS LIKE THE MEDUSA FROM THE OGIGIONAL CLASH OF THE TITANS!! OH MY CHILDHOOD IS COMING BACK GLORIOUSLY! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Now that I got the fan boy out of the way, time for the other.

I like the orenge, it seeems to fit really well and and is well blended and shaded.

The color scheme for the flesh is also interesting. They remind me more of statures from Ancient Greece, which is a cool effect.

The large Treewoman is quite impressive, seemingly human and yet unatural at the same time.

The trees look pretty realistic, and its thanks to the what I am guessing is mesh of some sort. What did you use on the tops again?

Aah, you guys <3

I was stuck not painting for a couple of weeks but reading your words helps a lot! Thanks!

@Ambo - I want all the Tree beings.. Treeings! ^^

@Cult - Yes! If one is allowed to enjoy one's own work, then the eerie theme is by far the most interesting. Almost to the point I dropped the autumn type (in truth, I will repaint them at some point, but I had to have tried it out)

@Saint - You charmeur! I am very happy the pics sparked some nostalgia, yay! :D. You are asking about the tree tops, I suppose you mean the terrain trees (and the scary tree). It's hot glue, using a glue gun and...

sprues! Bent, twisted sprue frames from your everyday plastic model box

Some backlogging.
I cannot resist trying out something new and different, so a while back friends lent me models for some try outs. These are pictures of a Reiksguard Knight I believe, and Be'lakor the first Daemon Prince (again, I think). But where is the amazing basing? Well, these are not my models, and I don't want them to stick out from the armies of my friends with some different ground texture. So imagine it!

It's an absolutely stunning figure, and a great conversion. My only point would be that I still recognised her instantly as Kerrigan. But I guess the paintjob will fix that, and blend her in the army. It's a terrific idea and will look amazing for sure!

That's pretty awesome. I can't help thinking, though, that a bunch of Slaanesh worshippers are going to happen upon her and go, "Hey, guys! We found our missing god at last!" ;)

@daeron: Yes, it is unavoidable to not see Kerrigan, and I thought of using her first as a bit of a joke, but with labour comes love and I am happy I tried it out. If people get a little smile from recognising her on the table, I am all good with that :)

@shadowspite: Absolutely! When I made these woodies, I was conflicted on them or a Slaaneshi warband and figured in the end (while playing with friends) I could always play the dryads as Daemonettes, treekin as Fiends, treewomen as Keppers of Secrets. I am all about the seductive woodland spirits singing their chants to lure you off the path. I almost made a third theme, with pinks, violets and purples for a Slaaneshi wooden army. I might still do that sometime ;)

Happy you like it!

Right, adding the Dreadspears and Grudge Buster to the fold with a few more pics

I am not completely satisfied with the Dreadspears, but I need to work on something else. Banners and shields.. still waiting for myself to make a design and practice painting it. So bare shields for now! Also a pic of how they used to look.
