Painting that area a darker brown and then putting a green shade over that particular spot might work well too. It would be brown with a greenish appearance like moss. Just a thought.

So moving on to the next two units. Ready for priming before basing on a multibase.
These will be hordes of Forest shamblers. Anvil units to anchor the faster moving elements.
They have the added advantage of being moved by magic in the shooting phase to surprise opponents.

Those are going to look great once they are based up! I was just on the Raging Heroes site today and saw they had those on sale. I might pick up a few more.

Well I have still been painting, I just hadn't had the time to upload any more pictures

So firstly, the two hordes of Forest Shamblers..... seems a certain shop misplaced my order, so I am waiting on a new delivery of some basing kits that I plan to use for them.
Currently therefore they are not so much a horde, rather a thicket.

Image

I did get a whole lot of tiny basing skulls though :)

Image

So in the mean time I have been working on my first multi based troop sized unit. Hunters of the Wild, mini were part of the Elf warband from Warplaque. I had intended to use the Elves as well but the scale looks off. I will however rescue a couple and base them as Druids.
The unit base is on a pivot tray to help in the movement phase.
From bits to an assembled unit in one evening :)

Thanks Malys.

Well I have based the two hordes of Forest Shamblers.
I just need to tidy the edging of the multi base now.

Image

Image

So full army to date. Over half way done now.

Image

Next up was meant to be some Earth Elementals, however these are still on back order. So I am jumping to Air Elementals

I couldn't really find any I like, so I had a dig around my boxes of minis in the loft. I found some old Warhawk rider models and will go for an ethereal type effect using a blue wash rather than green. Hopefully it will look Airy when finished, going to be trial and error.

Are these models all from KoW? How do they size up with GW models?

Great collection!

Actually none of the models so far are Mantics.
To date there is a range of manufacturers.
Scibor
Warplaque
GW / Forgeworld
Raging heroes.

I do have some Mantic ones coming, so will post a review once they arrive.

A little update.

I should have another unit to share at the weekend, but these are my bases.
Drilled a few holes in the resin to fit flying stands.
Still need to do the dirt, foliage and skulls. Then add some flocking.

They are from Scibor. Not too bad a price really if you take GW prices as a baseline :)

Those look really sharp with the color contrast. I'm looking at placing an order for some Scibor minis soon, how are the models and service over all?

I order via Element games. First class service and very quick delivery. Haven't used Scibor directly.

Made some progress.

Finished bases.

Image

Then with my Air Elementals, based on old warhawk models.

Image

Image

This then is the army to date.

Image

Two unpainted and primed models will be two Druids.
Empty multibases will be two regiments of stone elementals. Just awaiting delivery to start the conversion.

The monster base I have just finished is awaiting a delivery too. This will be a flying pig monster.

I have until next Saturday to complete the remaining units as this will be its first tournament outing.

Great idea with the hawks. I like those a lot!

@malys: I have ordered several times from Scibor and everything is good. Easy to talk to if something comes up. Gave me an extra model one time when I ordered a lot.

Amboadine - Good luck with your goal and the tourney. Your army is really coming along nicely.

Sabious - Thanks for the info and justification to buy more stuff! :D

So finished up the army as much as I could before tomorrows tourney.

Some of the models didn't arrive in time so I had to improvise the Earth Elementals.

Image

Image

Then this Pig monster is my second Beast of Nature. It does have wings that I can detach depending on the list I am running. Dry brushing does not really show up very well in the picture. Will perhaps try again in daylight.

Image

Then army in all its glory ready for battle, with two sneaky goblins pretending to be Druids. Mantic model is due to be released shortly so will paint a couple up once I get my hands on them.

Image

Next step add another 500 points of the new Mantic centaurs coming later this month.

Then hopefully the Raging Heroes kickstarter models should start coming. :)

Those Scibor broken-statue bases actually make really good earth elementals, even if 'improvised'.

Just got back from the tourney. Top ten finish so fairly satisfied. Lost the last game stupidity or might have done a little better.

Learnt a lot about my list. It has too many anvil units and not enough hammers.

Did pick up this little award though.
