NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

Post by cultofkhaine »

So P&M has been quite dull for a while now - Who's looking for some motivation to get some paint on those unfinished models?

Is there anyone interested in a painting challenge? We ran one at the start of last year but it seemed to run out of steam a few months in.

Perhaps a comp or Secret Santa in Jan (sorry missed last years), a terrain making challenge - I'm keen to get this forum fired up again and get some hobby happening.

I would love to hear your thoughts from those of you still walking these hallowed halls.

I would be up for something, although with my work I can be a bit unreliable. I'd probably pass on terrain making but some kind of mini painting I could at least throw my ring in the hat.

I be interested in some sort of long term challenge. I personally won't be able to participate in anything that ends before June. I'd love to see more activity though!

What if we started this month with a simple Hero challenge - to paint a single champion of your choice?

Unit champion would be cool. A gradual start seems like a good idea regardless.

As long as you make a generous timeframe for completion, I'd be up for whatever people choose to do. Single model champion sounds fun.

Good idea Cult! Im in. Champion is a good start, and then build from there to keep in interesting, easy and diverse. Last army challenge was maybe too tough every month

Great - looks like we have some interested members!

So to kick of this month lets all aim to get 1 Lord, Hero or champion painted by the end of the month. I think it would be good practice for everyone to show a before photo and state what your chosen model will be.

This month I'm going to paint my Black Ark Fleet Master - will post a photo shortly.

Looking forward to see what the rest of you come up with.

I'll paint up a Sorceress. I currently have her primed but I'll post a before and after pic.
Will we be posting pics in this post, or will another one be established by the Mods?

I'm going to try some OSL on the open hand...hopefully...

Great idea, as I am currently painting twenty Dread Legionnaires, the champion of the unit will also participate. Photos will follow when I'm home. (FYI: I am following the excellent Naggarond's painting guide for warriors, adapted to my colour scheme).

Oh, crap. It seems I'll have to sit this one out. Right now I'm nearly finishing 9th Age inspired Blood Priestess on Manticore, so I'm little late to enter (no 'before' photo) and I probably won't have time to paint something else this month. It will be nice to see what you guys will bring anyway :)

More activity sounds great. I've been struglling with some issues (and had to retire from the 9th Age website for that reason), but I would love some motivation to get some work done on the army, we always need more toys to play with.
Secret Santa thing sounds great, maybe after the current challenge? And I would love to try that, will have to check my models.
My painting blog

Even without Games Workshop, we will endure. Armies of the Unsupported Age, the models are out there.

post away Errdrigar this is not a competition so we can be open about the criteria - it would be good to see your work.
