Finished my team, my event was this weekend. The team performed relatively poorly (but honestly, I expected that - Chaos is not a really competitive roster for Blood Bowl tournaments), but I did get 2nd most votes for Best Painted, out of 35 participants.

I will post finished pics in the next few days. Right now, I'm pretty much exhausted. 6 games of Blood Bowl in 2 days sounds like no big deal until you do it. My brain is applesauce. =P

Congrats! I'm looking forward to seeing the completed team.

UGH! Is anyone else having a hard time getting motivated to paint this month? I literally only have 5 models and for some reason my head isn't in it. I've gotten most of the base coating done but it's going extremely slowly...

LOL - I know exactly how you feel, I managed to get a couple of Ogres painted for my Dungeon Crawl game but have had to many other distractions.

There's still a few days left in the month 5 models should not be hard to finish, pick a bit to paint each day for 30 min :D

Yeah, I'm having motivation issues as well. But I also seem to have had a lot of non-hobby-related stuff to sort out this month.

Still, there's a week and a half yet. Plenty of time to finish my other four Marauder ladies, and maybe my Gorebeast Chariot as well.

Next month's priorities will be my Chaos Lord (the Golden Queen), my Chaos Sorcerer and my Hellflayer (which is running down some Witch Elves - DP will doubtless like that one!). I'm going back to France on August 21st, as my parents need help cutting, splitting and stacking a big load of firewood, so that will be it for hobby stuff until the Autumn.

Ugh, still failing. All I need to base coat at this point is the crossbows. Washing and highlighting will be quick and easy.

In an effort to motivate me to finish, what does next months goal/project look like? Any thoughts? I have something from every category so and idea will do by me!

I'll be painting chariots and spellcasters. So either of those would work as a theme.

I know how you feel Malys - I'm an epic failure this month as well (only got a couple of zombies done)

Taking recommendations for next month - what does everyone think?

My dryad cavalry. Either to be used as the frenzied Wild Huntsmen or the spellcasting Briar Maidens.

I'm quite satisfied with the result of the models, but my initial thought of making them autumn coloured (with foliage) steals away from all the branches and antlers (especially when standing right next to each other). So I'm taking a break from them, in the eyes of repainting. This is how far I came before I decided I need to test the darker wood theme I'm running.

Old plastic Dark Rider horses, heads replaced by dryad bodies. Antlers are dryad arms, tails branches, mane/fur and beard greenstuff, lances/javelins from the new Dreadspears and finally staff-tops from the wood elf Briar unit.

They look cool. I have some spare dryad bits and loads of the old elven steed models - I might steal your idea and make myself some Centigors for my Slaanesh army. :D

I have a Cold One Chariot and a couple of sorceresses so I'm good for either or.

I suppose Chariot/Calvary would open it up a little more to people...

@shadowspite - That sounds great! Steal steal steal, and improve!

As for next month I am a bit blank. Loads to work on. Almost done with a wizard too. Might go into monstrous infantry, just because I love the models. - That could be a guideline too. Some models you really like.

Ok lets keep it open as possible and make it "Paint some models your really like and tell us why you like them!"

Does that sound good?

I think it always boils down to that, really. Why would we paint models we didn't like, after all? But OK.

Surely some of your models rank over the others in your mind! My old spearmen are nice, but they're certainly not my favourite unit!

"Some models you really like" literally describes everything I have that is painted or is ever going to be painted (I do have some models that will never see paint, but they're only kept to cannibalize for conversions). I don't buy models I don't like. I'd never collect an army that had must-have units whose models I didn't like. That's why I didn't play Chaos until 6th edition when they finally got decent-looking Chaos Warrior models, even though I'd loved the concept of a Chaos army since getting into the hobby in the early 1990s. And why I started a DE army rather than HE or WE, even though I like all three flavours of elf about equally fluffwise. DE were the only one of the three that had even halfway-decent-looking core troop models back then. It's also why every single one of my 6th edition plastic DE warriors is assembled as a crossbowman, because I always thought the spears looked horribly badly proportioned.

My favourite model changes from day to day and is usually whatever I'm working on at the moment. Or whatever I'm planning on working on next. So "paint something you especially like" is identical to "paint something" for me.

Honestly, it's like people forget my patron god is Slaanesh... :P ;)

Do you suggest a change or another theme for the month? It sounds like you are not happy about it. Let us know.

My suggestion is to not take it as a vague "I like all my models", but instead use it to showoff something you find fascinating. Everyone changes thoughts and favourites. It's never set in stone. To try and accomodate your situation, I'd word it as: Show us what fascinates you this month. What models are most interesting to you -right now-.

No, no, I'm fine with it. I'm just having a bit of fun by being absurdly pedantic about it! :P
