Tenebrael Shard

Post by Ming »

Your thoughts about this??

It seems some sort of warlock, or assassin.
Quite compatible with the old range.

I'm not sure what to make of it really!

Quite an odd name they have given it - I wonder what it means?

I quite like the sculpt, it will be interesting to see how they follow this style with the new elves, when ever they are released.

I hope it soon because there is no conversation on elves at the moment at all (not even the relatively still new Dark Elf / Wood Elf ranges)

Its from the silver tower board game. He's basically a D&D character.

Basically he looks likes male witch elf with rules like an assassin.

Fluffwise, he is an aelf of Ulgu, the Grey Realm of Shadow where Malerion (Malekith) rules. Unlike the aelves of Azyrheim (i.e. all the 'legacy' minis from the DE, HE and WE ranges), the Ulgu aelves are those whose souls were devoured by Slaanesh in the End Times and were later rescued by Malerion and the twins Tyrion and Teclis.

He is not a wizard as such, but he clearly has a strong link to the magic of Ulgu. He seems to have the ability to teleport from shadow to shadow or to turn into a living shadow himself. He feels a lot like a shadar-kai from D&D. But I'd not be surprised if he turns out to be a sort of 'enforcer' for Malerion.

I think what's most interesting is that the image suggests 'Aelves' is going to be an actual faction in AoS. Maybe GW have finally realised that splitting us up into a billion silly little subfactions whose rules don't support each other was a stupid idea?

Something from a shadow realm I guess ("tenebrae" is Latin for "shadow" - and also the name of a 1982 giallo movie directed by Dario Argento. I wonder if GW know that latter point)

Nice mini though it does look more or less like another witch elf variant that's watch too many Freddy Krueger movies :)

Very nice conversion base.

Aesthetic somewhere between final variant Dark Elves and current Dark Eldar.
