Yeah, the all-white hair does look better on the witches. Just goes to show, experiment always beats theory. :)

Here are the completed witches. I had to take a few months off because I was letting life get in the way. But we r back on track now! Next up the corsair slavers

Quick update, messing around with the corsair colour scheme, thinking I will go silver for the armour plates.

Thanks Khaine! I must admit I draw a lot of inspiration from your work, and would like you to think of what I'm doing here as a bit of an owed to your good self!

Thanks!

How many are you painting? Those cloaks can be quite time consuming, but look great when done.

only 10. my plan is to have 10 corsairs, in 2 columns (full commend) following behind 5 slaves (flagellants) joined by a chain, held by a black ark fleet master, leading them to the awaiting witches and an alter to khaine. the executioners will be standing either side of the path to the alter.

perhaps its the purple armour! have you thought of doing it metal?

Try a dark wash, then purple highlight on the edges - everything works well with that.

It's hard to be certain from looking at an image, but the contrast on the metal and skin looks a bit underdeveloped to me - could you add a bit more inking and drybrushing to the gold on the helmets and the faces in particular?

I agree with CoK on the purple armour too.

That all said - I'm not a fan of the GW corsairs models in general - mine never really zinged for me either, somehow the design of the model just seems to make whatever you do appear blah.

looks much better!

Try a little white or bright purple on the most high points of the models for that extra glint!

Black boots could definitely use some more attention. For mine I used a dark grey line to outline the different parts of the boots and then a pure white/light grey highlight in some of the high polish areas.

For a table top standard they look great!

I always work on a base coat, followed by a wash (normally black) then large highlight in the base colour, then small highlight in a lighter shade of the same colour (mix some white in). Finally finish it of with a very small highlight of an even lighter colour.

Work from the deepest parts of the model out, dark to light.

If you are looking for gold demon standard then do all the same but multiple times for hours and hours :D

AoP is great fun and the main thing I normally paint towards each year. It takes plenty of time management and keeps you motivated each month.

I think you have a good looking army so far - do you have any supporting terrain pieces in mind? these can really help bring your board to life!

Nice looking banner by the way.
