Why don't I understand GW???

Post by Ehakir »

Seems like GW hadn't thought of this:
Beastmaster Scourge, AP, 4 pts. for Master, 6 for Dreadlord
Biting Blade, AP, magical attacks, 5 pts.
The only reason for a Dreadlord to take a Scourge to me would be that he had no points left for the biting blade, but why would you take the scourge if you can take a biting blade for less points?

cause, no sane dreadlord owner would buy them such thing. I can see this item only on champions.

1 point isn't that much of a discrepancy. The Scourge is a way to get a decent non magic weapon when your points are spent else where.

Maybe, because it gives +1 Attack also, or +1 AS with a Shield (both while on foot only)?

But seriously, a Dreadlord with a Beastmaster's Scourge or a Biting Blade!?

Too busy with their real life to think what's efficient and rather go with 'that's the second coolest thing I saw today'. ;)

If you take lifetaker as your magic weapon choice.

For models on foot that want an extra attack +AP.

As an alternative to the overwhelming horde of characters
with great weapons all over WFB. I will be able to more thouroughly decide when I have some time pouring over the book.

Or you already put the Biting Blade on another character?

- o.O

Yeah, maybe in a 10,000pts game I would have used up all other options and so I will take both Biting Blade and Scourges for the bare-hand characters. Maybe.....

take the scorge when you take the item dagger of hotek, you gain 2 CC Weapons +1 A and AP too with magic attacks at always strike first.

to me that looks now a bad combo for a corsair theamed lord.

I wonder if you can do that Lac.Desariel because that's not a half bad combo for a cheapo foot lord...

Or a mounted DreadLord. 5 S4 AP attacks? Sounds fair enough at the point cost it comes with.

Mounted won't work for sure, though. The Handweapon bonuses are only for models on foot.

Magic Dagger which can be combined with normal hand weapons for an additional attack. Grants the bearer the ASF rule.
- Now, do we know if Scourge is a "normal" hand weapon or just counts as hand weapon for the purpose of combining it with a "normal" hand weapon for the +1 A when on foot. I strongly believe that the second assumption is right and so that renders both the dagger of hotek and the scourge useless IMHO. I presume that the only good option for a foot lord is for him to be within a unit of Black Guards that will surely have the ASF banner anyway so you don't need the dagger....

You can't possibly combine dagger + scourge for a total of 5 ASF attacks with AP I think.

I'd agree. The Dagger is a magical weapon, as far as I've understood, and the Scourge is a "mundane" weapon. Since you can't have a magical weapon + a regular one as an additional hand weapon (thus giving you the +1A for an additional hand weapon), then I can't see this combo working. It's a nice thought though.

<<Dagger of Hotek>> (30 pts) Magic Dagger which can be combined with normal hand weapons for an additional attack. Grants the bearer the ASF rule

This may be a viable option. All the possible combos....it is great to theoryhammer them.
