Warhammer Online

Post by Odium »

I am just wondering if you will be playing Warhammer Online or not.

I am an old Dark Age of Camelot vet and a Warhammer TT player for 15 years so Warhammer Online is a easy choice for me (Mythic, who made DAOC is making Warhammer Online).

Although I haven't been lucky enough to get into beta, the game looks amazing and I can't wait to play it. If anybody tried it and doesn't like it PM me I would gladly take your place. ;)

Explain your answer please.

I'm definately going to get it, but first I'm going to buy a new PC(long overdue) so I can enjoy it properly. I'll have to wait a couple of months, which sucks.

Hmmm... Not a big fan of MMORPG's - but hopefully this will be good due to good fluff, unlike WoW.

Hopefully at least some quests will be interesting rather then the whole "bring me 8 skulls" or "kill 10 boars" type stuff.

Looking forward to the PvP

But as I've said - I will wait and see, as its a big investment of both time and money

I thought I wouldn't play another MMO when I stopped WoW but... I failed!

My copy is already preordered too.

I have tried a few MMOs and lost interest in them in about a week, but I think that this will keep me entertained. I also pre-ordered a collectors box :P

Just make sure you don't start worshipping Khorne, then. ;o

But yeah.. Wow looked awesome before it came out as well, and I think it kind of sucks. So I'll wait and try it out for a bit. I'm a real cheapskate at paying for games, so it really has to be epic-uber-khaine-awesome if I'll pay for it.

hmm, does two pre-ordered CEs and one regular pre-order (for US servers) count as playing?

I got into Closed Beta and Preview Weekend... All I can say, the game kicks ass and it will leave WoW with only the most hardcore raiders and people who want their new sword to shoot laz0rz.

Day 1 for me. Big time mmo fan as well as big time dark elf fan. Launches for mmos are very rough and I'm approaching this one very cautiously as last time a game was hyped to this magnitude it was vanguard (yeah i went there) But i have 2 Collectors editions preordered one for me and 1 for my other half.

I will absolutely be playing it, earlier than day 1. I have pre-ordered the collectors edition and played a bit during the preview weekend. So I'll be all over open beta and the head start. I've been following WAR for a year or so, just before finally quitting WoW, and can't wait. I agree with Silverheimdall, the Disciple is crazy and I plan to roll one until the Dark Elf tank is in place.

Would you start if Black Guard was there but horribly underpowered and uninspired? it's why it's not there, I'm pretty sure the races missing their classes will get high priority for updates.

I agree 100%. I was sad to see Black Guard go but that shouldn't stop anybody from playing this great game. The BG will come back and there are plenty of fun classes to play until then.

I haven't read why it was pulled out, was it because it was horribly underpowered? As for uninspired... They've let 'fans' decide on background and I cannot say that all of the classes in there now are terribly inspiring to me. I don't know the extent of how uninspired it was but I can handle a bit I guess.

However, I'll wait and see. Until now none, exactly none of the classes have attracted me to play them. Meh.

Official response is that they couldn't get those classes unique enough, as in they were too much like their counterparts on opposing side, or simply couldn't come up with enough interesting abilities.
They had two choices
1. Remove the classes *temporarily* and go with the release
2. Push back the release *again* for 4 classes.

I have a CE preordered and I also played a little bit in the closed beta. I was out of town for the preview weekend unfortunately. I played a Witch Elf until level 10, a squig herder 'til level 4, and a sorcerer until level 7.

I can say that while playing, it kept me entertained. There was very little down time which is cool. I never got into WoW, but I played Everquest for a while, and It seemed like most of your time was spent resting.

The imagery is pretty cool. The cold ones look neat and the landscape is pretty cool. The setting is Ulthuan so there is no land of chill, but there are a lot of cool dark elf things to see.

does D.net have a guild their setting up for this game? I remember seeing posts for it and a lot of arguments on how it should be run, was anything decided or was it all left in the dust? I would love to join the d.net guild, if we have one...

I was really look forward to playing Black Guard. But after they took it out and scrapped the four cities, WAR's light diminished slightly.

They promised so much...

In all honesty once the BG was taken out I lost a lot of the enthusiasm. I'm sure Dalamar and I can start working out again how itll work!

Same problem here as KariosRedHand. Needs a new pc to run it properly. Read somewhere it needs 15GB drive space.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to play. A MMO cost so much time.

I like MMORPGs, and I like Dark Elves, however I DON'T LIKE paying exorbitant fees for online games. My questions is: how much /month is it?

@Azure: IIRC, you two(Dalamr being the other) were/is in charge og any d.net guilds, no?

Has that changed? And if so, who's taking up the mantle? This close to release, isn't it time we got started? :p
