Awesome! What does your girlfriend think of Medusa? Is she like "Eeeek!"?

This is my first snake but I have about 50 or 60 snakes at college which I care for and look after, and a few of my friends have snakes. So although this is my first I have plenty of experience with them, they are pretty specialist pets I wouldn't recommend one to anyone who doesn't know their stuff.
Erm Rodents I have a cage of mice which I am now breeding to feed the snake, but I have a local pet shop about 2 minutes drive away which sells prekilled mice and rats etc for pretty cheap. Medusa is already feeding well on defrosts so there is no need for me to live feed her anything (but I may still give it a go).

Was either of your retics 32 ft long?
Thats the record length for a reticulated P as far as i know.
Yeah Royals/Balls can be problem feeders if stressed or in too large a vivarium. What was the setup you had it in like because that might explain it? It's always best to go straight from breeder and have one which is already feeding well.

This couldn't be misconstrued in any way.

This brings up a pretty interesting point. I wonder about the pets of a lot of dark elf players on the board here.
I have two emperor scorpions that I named Iyurial and Obsidian.
And my wife's dog, but that doesn't count for much. (if that garbage disposal was only a little bit bigger! )

My cousin had a pet ball Python named Monty about 18 years ago. There's actually a picture of me as a baby with him crawling over my stomach- he was pretty gentle, though who knows if he'd have eaten me if I was smaller...
Regardless, snakes are wicked cool, you're a lucky guy!

Everyone calls their pythons Monty, its pretty lame
She came today OMG she is so sweet I love her already, she is only in a little tank for a week first then I will move her into the big vivarium and take more pictures.
Give it a few days for her to settle in and I will try and take a picture or two of me holding her.

Nice pet. What keeps these animals from attacking their owner or other people? Just curious, don't know much about snakes.
As an aside you should modify your pictures so they are about 800x600 because they screw up the width of the forum making it hard to read. Just a suggestion.

@langmann - sorry I will try to fix the pics. Please dont hurt me
@Lyhne - any time now, my sister took 3 of me holding Medusa and Im waiting for her to upload them.
As for langmann and Lyhnes questions, keeping a snake is relatively easy once you get confident. They're not expensive, the initial setup costs a bit but then its basically 90p a week for a mouse and that's it! In terms of ease though there is not a lot of cleaning etc to do, but then you can't handle them all the time either, they're more a pet you look at. They're great though. If you do get one I recommend a corn snake or royal python as a 'beginner' species. Most people run with a corn snake.
In terms of stopping them from killing you, this size snake won't do much. Its non venemous as it is a constrictor (meaning it crushes its prey to kill it). It could kill a mouse, small rat etc at the size she is now. Even at full size a big rat is the top of the food chart for her really, though she wouldn't mind the neighbours budgie if it came too close If she bites it really is just like being jabbed by a staple. The two prongs hurt when they go in but that's about it...
If you are thinking about getting a snake make sure you research plenty first, a lot of people buy one as its 'cool' and don't look after it properly. Annoys the hell out of me when people mistreat reptiles that way.
edit - aparrently two pics were blurry but here is one:

I never really understood why people'd want reptiles and such as pets, but there are others who'd say the same about dogs, so what the heck...
But I am happy to hear you have a pet you love. Pets have a peculiar way of winding their way into our hearts, even though they are "just" animals. I mean, I talk to my dog as if it could actually understand me... It's just one of those things. Ah, I love pets
