Dreadborn's Raiders - 2000pts Friendly

Post by Sidorio »

Okay, I've finally got round to making a list. This is for FRIENDLY GAMES, so I'm trying to minimise or remove the cheese element. The idea is a fun list that also stands achance at winning and being a little competetive. Anyway I need some help as my DE lists aren't always up to scratch.

Calith Dreadborn=246
Dreadlord
- Soulrender
- Ring of Hotek
- Gem of Nightmares
- Armour of Eternal Servitude
- Sea Dragon Cloak

Vaako the Raven=158
Master
- Army Battle Standard
- Seal of Ghrond
- Sword of Might
- Heavy Armour
- Sea Dragon Cloak

Arceneus Bloodsinger=150
Sorceror
- 2 Dispel Scrolls

17 Corsairs=220 Calith here
- Full Command
- War Banner

17 Corsairs=220 Vaako here
- Full Command
- Banner of Murder

10 Repeater Crossbowmen=115 Arceneus here
- Shields
- Musician or Guardmaster (need advice on this)

10 Repeater Crossbowmen=115
- Shields
- Musician or Guardmaster (yet again I need advice on this.)

5 Harpies=55

7 Excecutioners=84

7 Excecutioners=84

7 Shades=133
- Great Weapons
- Light Armour

5 Cold One Knights=210
- Full Command
- Standard of Slaughter

Reaper Bolt Thrower=100

Reaper Bolt Thrower=100

Total=2000 (I believe this is right, correct me otherwise)

Like i said this is for friendly games. I know there are definately some issues in the list and would really appreciate advice. Anyway, thanks. :D

Calith Dreadborn=246
Dreadlord
- Soulrender
- Ring of Hotek the ring is called as chees but as magical defense ok I think
- Gem of Nightmares I wouldn´t use that. You have to activate it at the begining of your turn and so your enemy has all posibilitys to react.
- Armour of Eternal Servitude I`m not sure if that is enough protection but, ok. (you can have the pendant for the same price)
- Sea Dragon Cloak

Vaako the Raven=158
Master
- Army Battle Standard
- Seal of Ghrond
- Sword of Might
- Heavy Armour
- Sea Dragon Cloak
you can mount him to have higher armour save and to declare 18'' attacks

Arceneus Bloodsinger=150
Sorceror
- 2 Dispel Scrolls Caddy, good.

17 Corsairs=220 Calith here
- Full Command
- War Banner I would give one of them the SSS, thats stylish

17 Corsairs=220 Vaako here
- Full Command
- Banner of Murder

10 Repeater Crossbowmen=115 Arceneus here
- Shields
- Musician or Guardmaster (need advice on this) no gardmaster and normaly no musican needed. If some one is comming to kill your caddy leave the unit and look for a wood or something else.

10 Repeater Crossbowmen=115
- Shields
- Musician or Guardmaster (yet again I need advice on this.) same

5 Harpies=55 small amount of harpies. You don´t have DR so at least 5 more harpies
7 Excecutioners=84 well, they are great if you can protect them against beeing atacked or shooted down. Better with a CoB or ASF but could work so too

7 Excecutioners=84 see above

7 Shades=133 too much shades for me, no light armour needed. Also I would take additional handwappons. you have 2 units executioners
- Great Weapons
- Light Armour

5 Cold One Knights=210 ok
- Full Command
- Standard of Slaughter

Reaper Bolt Thrower=100 ok

Reaper Bolt Thrower=100

Total=2000 (I believe this is right, correct me otherwise)

17 Corsairs=220 Calith here
- Full Command
- SSS

17 Corsairs=220 Vaako here
- Full Command
- Banner of Murder

10 Repeater Crossbowmen=110 Arceneus here
- Shields

10 Repeater Crossbowmen=110
- Shields

I concur with thora.
In addition:
A Master would be nearly as good as a Dreadlord. Take a Dreadlord only if you want a dragon, or Exec's Axe, or many Null Shards, or if you really need Ld10. If you're happy with Ld9 and a magic weapon, a Master is much cheaper.

For the Corsairs, the SSS is better than the War Banner which is better than the Banner of Murder.

Shades =>take no armour. GW or AHW are nice only if you want to go into melee, in that case an assassin would help. Otherwise, take no option and just shoot.

COK: they need not really the full command. Unless you want to give them the ring.

I suggest you self-analysed your list with the criteria found in
D.R.A.I.C.H. The balance of an army. A theoretical approach.

You'll discover that most of your troops are quite fragile to shooting: Execs, Shades, harpies die easily. COK will be the primary target of anything denying armour saves. Keep all of these troops cheap, small units with no improvement.
The last to die will be corsairs, MXB and RBT. This is where you can build up something: FC banners, masters.
Unfortunately, you lack quick troops to get rid of shooting. This is where flocks of harpies would help much better than a Dreadlord.
