Kinslayer wrote:Hi all just signed up im jason,

Ive played warhammer almost 8 years now but for the last year of that time i havent had an army, i have just followed the game through white dwarf and forums whilst helping my brother build and paint his wood elf army, mainly due to lack of money.

I decided to continue my druchii army (which i sold save a few models) with the release of the new book now, i still have my characters though i need to buy more warriors and the new models.

You can check out my army lists and give me some feedback would be much appreciated:

I whacked up three posts upon signing up back whenever, the one above and the 2 army lists it links to. No idea what I was on about back then, all I do nowadays is Roleplay

Of course, back in those days I was known across these lands as 'eartrender. [waits for Calisson reply] ;)

Your first quote is slightly inaccurate in several points.

Firstly, your quote is somehow only indirectly about your first post:
your actual first post was the "4000pts" thread you hyperlinked; the second post was the "2250pts" and the post you fully quote was technically your 3rd.
Of course, in the spirit, they came along all together so there's really nothing wrong telling that it was your 1st post.
I notice that with the "4000pts" post, your real first post, you showed an impressive ambition while admitting "my druchii army (which i sold save a few models)". An attitude seen later on again, if I recall correctly?

There is another, more obvious inaccuracy:

Not only is it hard to believe that a newcomer is that quickly "known across these lands", but it seems that your first name change occured after only 3 to 5 days spent in D.net. :o

This one change, I have to admit I did not noticed at the time. :?
OK, now that you partially uncovered some of your remote past, would you offer some more explanations about this little known "macejase"?

And this would be illegal. You can't have 2 Arcane Items (except dispel scrolls and power stones of course).

Interesting articles on the magic phase, all 3. Personally I tend to favor less magic, but it's fun to let loose with it every once in a while. :D

Not entirely sure if that puts me in a positive or negative light, but there it is. :o

Wow, does anyone read the forum rules? I for sure didn't till i got a warning....

i liked the story, but i saw sum mistakes tactically-wise, u treated dark elves as chaos warriors or summit like that, but druchii r also trained in ambush & sneaky tactics, due to their low T3 & low AS they can't be full frontal combat units, the druchii aren't as dumb or undisciplined as u put them in ur story, but under them jungle conditions i'll give u the benefit of doubt (by the way, it was obvious the water was gonna be poisoned, i bet any druchii would've seen that from miles).
Well, if that story was anywhere close to the truth the campaign wouldn't be 50/50. But it gladdens me to see ur hatred 4 the druchii, that will only envigourate our troops & keep raiding ur temples!!

Woah, I didn't know I used that name! Heck, I can't even remember it!

I am known as macejase still on Warseer, although I never use the site. Strange how a name change I used so early, although you know what they say - START HOW YOU MEAN TO GO ON

The mob with the pitch forks has made me settle on this name though, if I change again I'd half expect Rork to turn up on my doorstep throwing Daisies at me

Also, I know I was not known across the lands the day I joined... that came a few days later :P

I did also mention that I put up three posts at once, this introduction and the two army lists it linked to. If I recall correctly, I only put the army lists up first as I was intent on having some replies by the time I finished my introduction!

Which also brings me to the next point you bring up... Yes, I did sell my dark elves once again! In fact I quit warhammer altogether and currently have 0 models, 0 books, 0 paints, 0 everything! It's all gone now. I still follow the game though, and am hoping that once I have the money of a proper paid job I can restart. I'd like to restart both games, and although I am fixed on the idea of restarting 40k with the Space Wolves (my first ever army), I still have no idea what I would like to try with warhammer! I'd like to give Tomb Kings a shot, although I can't say for certain until we see what GW does to them!

Finally, thankyou Cal, I do my best to be the Roleplaying Deity my new title dictates 8)

After digging deep in the black archives I discovered my first post.

No introduction back in 2002, why would I, I wasn't supposed to visit this site that often. The only thing that changed in these 8 years is my spelling (After some hard lessons from Silas for instance). BTW, I still have troubles against those damn Dwarfs. (And lost the battle that day).

I've been lurking here since I joined up a while ago, and just haven't found any reason to post yet. For what it's worth, my Druchii are still awaiting painting, and most of them assembly as well. I work sloowly.

Welcome Tutankhankh in D.net. :)

Above, your first post indeed.
Not sure how nostalgic you are, though.

- you're indicating ("while ago", "sloowly") that you're going to take ages before you reached your 10th post.

Hmm. No capitals, multiple spelling mistakes... oh and did I mention the 1337 sp3ak? And theres no way anyone has ever thought of using missile troops with... another unit! God I was smart back then, what happened?

Thanks. As for nostalgia, is seems like it was just yesterday... oh, wait...

It probably will take ages to reach my 10th post, because the good folks at D.net always seem to say whatever I believe needs saying without my intervention. As for going halfway off topic, I apologize for that, but the opportunity was just too good to miss.

So thanks for the welcome. I'll probably go back to lurking now, until I've familiarized myself with the army and can post something actually constructive. At that point, I'll probably be heading to whatever introductions thread might be appropriate and introduce myself.

Ok here's a question that's causing some debate hereabouts. If you have a unit of corsairs, with standard, musician and champion, in a 5x4 unit (5 across, 4 deep) and someone charges it with a regular unit and wipes out five corsairs, does that include the champion? In other words, does the champion behave like a character in this situation or not? Can he strike back?

I think he is treated like a character.

I found the assassin to be useful with rending stars in a unit of 10 Corsairs with rxb against the Asur. March them up to a small unit of swordmasters and you can kill quite a few with two rounds of shooting and the rending stars. The assassin can still take out the few remaining with 4 attacks.

It's risky revealing the assassin however, as such a small unit with an assassin is a likely target for the boltthrower and will not be charged. I waited to reveal the assassin until the Asur charged (White lions so he thought he could handle it) In the end my unit fled, but reformed and got one more stand and shoot! So 10 corsairs and assassin took out 20 white lions

But my assassin is usually there to kill off the front rank as DE troops are so vulnerable, especially against Asurs ASF. So I would use RoK any day, the rending stars was just a one trick pony.

ah yes, sharing my wisdom in the not so distant past. Neglecting to mention that this was my first game with the new rules, and my second game playing with druchii altogether :P

edit - "my assassin is usually there..." pft... :P

I wrote:i've made a couple of fast moving lists, trying to be the least cheesy possible, and the most general lists possible. so i've like to read what do you think. here they go:

Noble: lance, heavy armour, sea dragon cloak, shield, mounted in a cold one
Seal of Ghrond. this guy should be in the CoK
Sorceress: level 2, darkstar cloak in a steed
Sorceress: level 2, tome of Furion in a steed
These two should be near the DR's, at the 5'' of the unit.

Assassin: manbane, rune of Khaine, additional hand weapon

2x 5 dark riders with rxbows BSB in one of them and musician in both
5 shades, so they can take shoots for the assassin
5 cold ones knight with BSB and the banner of murder (spicy)
1 chariot with spears
1 war hydra

as you can see, i've made the changes as suggested, but put in the banner... not so sure about it anyway..

the other is really similar to this one, but the hydra is a spellthirster hidra, the two DR's got only the musician, the shades got armour (ths one was for using the ponts...) and the chariot got the spear too... that would be

Noble: lance, heavy armour, sea dragon cloak, shield, mounted in a cold one
seal of ghrond
Sorceress: level 2, darkstar cloak in a steed
Sorceress: level 2, tome of Furion in a steed

Assassin: manbane and the rune of khaine, additional hand weapon

2x 5 dark riders with rxbows, musician
5 shades, so they can take shoots for the assassin
5 cold ones knight
1 chariot with rxbows and spear
1 war hydra spell thirster.

i've made some changes, hope you like'em

What do you think about this two? are they good, or bad?

anyway, thanks for all your help!

And i never got toplay this lists ;) just going to the point, straight forward, without introducing... how rude ;)

that's 14 shots. 5+ at long range, and repeating are still good odds. Of course, that's just one example.

Personally, I don't field an army very often that doesn't include at least 2 units of 10-20 RxB's.

Dark Riders - RXBs or not?

Yes 83%
No 16%

If you can get them in deep (if you are not really harrying the enemies flanks with them) you can take out smaller units with them.

My personal opinion, they are definitely worth it!

I'm going to get myself a small army up real quick, but i don't know what guys i should buy. Any tips for what models i should buy in order to get a small army up quick (i'm thinking about a 1000pts). My theme is a corsair raiding force.

I loved corsairs then and I love corsairs now.
