Do they often base the Fluff around battle reports? I seem remeber Morathi being slaughtered in one and she is still around.

Well, of course this battle was meant to be part of the Storm of Chaos storyline... But I think they just got some nice ideas and used them. If their ideas required Volkmar alive, he would have gotten away alive.

I think they think of her as wounded not slain. She flees the field before the final blow is struck
