With the release of daemons and the removal of 'Hordes of Chaos" I was wondering which book i should use for a mixed army. Should i refer to the out of date book? The WD tempory army list? Daemons? Chaos just got a whole lot more chaotic....

you can't mix armies anymore

So now beasts armies have to be made solely from beasts now?

well, let's put it this way: you can only use the options stated in the beast of chaos army book if you're making a beast of chaos army so no mixing with hordes of chaos or deamons of chaos.

Hrm, that's very irritating I would have thought that at the very least you would be able to use the tempory list...

I know., it sucks a lot. I was just starting a mortal/daemon list when I found out I couldn't mix the two. Now I have to decide which of the two I don't want to use or start building two armies at once (right before our new book as well, oh GW, how you abuse my wallet.)

As people said, all three armies are now totally stand alone. No more mixing of any kind.

Its a real shame, the chaos armes had alot of character particularly those themed to a particuar god. Now it seems GW have taken this and thrown it in the bin. Saying we should all mix gods. I thought the gods fought each other!!! And I was going to start a chaos army, but now I don't think I will, i'll stick with elves. GW are driving people away. Rant over.

The closes you can get to mixing armeys is with the Legendary battle system, but that's a specialist game made for large scalebattles( not your average 500-2250 pointers.)

maybe things will look up when they properly re-release mortals. To be fair though the old list could be heavily abused very easily. And at least now you can use the hellcannon.
