Long live Threadomancy! Well, I am soon going to a tournament in a nearby country, which will use ETC restrictions, and I currently only have 12 BG, so I was thinking of a counter-assault list. I kind of am not 100% sure that the restrictions make it completely impossible. The classical counter-assa...

-2 for comp? You must be from Sweden then The list isn't very hard. It will be smashed by anything with a strong magic phase (the ring isn't panacea) and it also stands very little chance against WoC (you have nothing to get rid of the Hellcannon and Knights, and they can beat any of your units, inc...

I had a test with the list I had previously mentioned - against WoC. I lost by a lot (we didn't calculate points), mainly due to my inability to use the assassins efficiently. Basically, three assassins sound cool, but it's sometimes difficult to get them near those things that they need to kill (in...

Hm, that's a very valid consern from Prince Fabulas, actually. I guess in that case the best use for the hero choice freed up by not using the ring (and the points what would have been used for the extra 10BG) would be to buy one more assassin. In this way, there would be two mages and three assassi...

DE are very squeezed with hero choices in ETC environment, so I don't think that cauldron will be seen very often (we need these hero slots for magic defense, rather). Cauldron is most efficient in conjunctin with COK and hydra, which are good in an assault list only (and ironically, you can't take ...

yeah, i was consedering the dagger too, but i really wanted magic defense. that means, i want the +1 to dispel staff, and at least two scrolls. actually, to increase offense a bit, it could be a good idea to get the bound steed of shadows in the second list (this would be the 9th power dice per turn...

Damn, the limit on amount of black guard is something I overlooked completely. Here's what i think about it :) : http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n169 ... iginal.gif

As for the first list - true, the tome has to be switched for MR1.

Erm, i guess the army builder lied to you then - i'm using excel and point values from the book (which i remember by heart mostly) As for the team aspect, well, we aren't going to take it overly seriously yet - it's going to be just the first time for us participating. When I compare these lists, th...

I just wanted to make a topic regarding this, as I am currently choosing between two lists, and saw your topic. So, I'll just post my two lists here, and ask for opinions. LIST 1: Counterassault Dreadlord on Dragon with KB lance, 1+ armour, Potion of Strength & MR1 Level 2: 2 x Dispel Scroll Lev...

Yup, if I get a material ready I will. Also, I'd like to know when it is planned to make the first new issue, i.e. when should be the deadline if I want to make something for the newest issue.

I don't frequent the site recently, but I am interested in helping to make the Herald and contribute to the community this way. I am confident that no matter how tight the schedule, I will be able to write an article per quarter. In the worst case, a battle report (with pictures). Currently, I would...

Black Dragon belly

Hi I have finally got myself a dragon, and currently I'm in the process of painting it. The dragon is made from the high elf version. Basically, the sceme of the top part is quite clear for me - the protruding spikes, as well as scales, are going to be black, washed several times with Baal Red, and ...

Re: A different approach to VC.

Do you think this list would be very boring to play against or not? Do you think 2x Blood Knights and 2x Black Knights would annoy you and give a lower composition score? 1. Not at all. This would be a different vampire list, and a non-conventional one, not relying on invospam 2. No. I am playing q...

I recently started playing this type of list, because I am preparing for ETC 2010. The way I see it: Dragon kills stuff. It chews any heavy cav (even chaos, with the proper dreadlord setup), and it can also kill other armies dangerous stuff (BT, Hellcannon etc), if it has been softened by RBT previo...

I'll generalize our weakness: we are a glass cannon. The majority of our troops are very good at dishing out, but very bad at receiving (hydra is the only exceptions, and even it pales in comparisson to the tough choices of other armies). What's the moral? We have to strike. If we receive the strike...

There are some targets, which can be killed by a dragonlord only after preliminary weakening by the RBT. When playing against them, I use the RBT for such weakeninng. For shooting light stuff, I use two units on 9 shades - they do the job very well, and they protect the RBTs from warmachine hunters.

I'd also add to the discussion of this point that one should always weigh the potential benefit of the casting of a spell against the incurred risk of miscast. This, of course, is mainly relevant for scroll caddies. I.e., when you have a L4+L2 (8PD) against dwarfs with anvil lord +3 scrolls (7PD + 3...

Nice addition, Calisson. In fact, this is the approach I always use in any case when my magic offense is smaller than or equal to the opponent's magic defense. When the value on your dice is something like 12+, the opponent will often use a scroll (if the spell is indeed important). When the scrolls...

Gunline dwarfs aren't the most terrifying dwarfs. The much worse variety is the dwarfs that have several really solid blocks, which are supported by a lot of warmachines, and just a bit of shooting. This type of dwarfs army can really all fit into a corner, and blast from afar only the most serious ...

To my mind, the best lore against Brets would be the one that helps best against Pegasus knights. So, it's probably Dark (all spells except Chillwind and Bladewind are ok against them). The rest of the bretonnian army never posed any problem for me, somehow.

@Gh9st: in most cases, the statistical average will not be an integer, and hence the probability of it occuring will be 0% additionally, there is very little value to the average. like Ant correctly said, one needs the odds of certain things, like the probability that Side A break unit B in combat. ...

Well, I also agree that Dark is the best. However, there are two armies, against which Metal is better: WoC, and any vampire army with Black Knight Drakenhoff Deathstar. It goes like this: you cast spirit of the forge, and oops - the opponent's most powerful unit is gone. With vampires it's more eas...

I'm also following this one, and I really hope the Polish will win tomorrow's game against Italy. That might help pursuading 8 people in my country, Estonia, which probably has under 50 players in total, to form a team and participate next year :D (i.e., Poland is close, and it's cheap to go there).
