The 25% on characters thing is unnecessary, IMO. I'm really against placing arbitrary restrictions like that on myself and others when making lists. Sure, if you take a 500 point Dragon and then 500points of other characters it can be a little excessive, but in my case I have enough fighty support f...

2250 Dark Elves

Haven't been playing fantasy for about 8months now, as I just haven't had the time or willpower to update both my current armies to their latest books (Daemons and Dark Elves, having gotten rid of my Tomb Kings and Orcs). After a few perusals here and there, I've decided to revamp, repaint and re-ba...

Plaguebearers, with the Herald of course, are possibly the best of the demons. They are incredibly survivable and taking a unit down is quite hard. With slime trail and noxious vapors they can take down an enemy or two when they charge in and then watch regen simply bounce attacks off of them. DSL ...

I've been wondering whether the Ether blade is worth it for the KOS. It has S6 plus Armour piercing for free so why pay 50pts for the slight edge you get. It would certainly help with Armies that have lotsa tin cans but against other Armies it wouldn't be so useful. IMHO the points could be better ...

Yeah- after 5minutes of pondering I came to the conclusion that it would be best to drop a Seeker from each unit, or find the points *somewhere* and give him the blade. I'll work on getting the flamers to 5.

Igor: 9 DP in a single unit? I'm not sold on that at all. OP: Level 4 looks alright... might be better off on foot, but then again, you lack the infantry units to hide him in Just be very careful with the eagle. You may want to consider a supporting level 2, switching one of the scrolls on the Archm...

Cheers... I tried to keep it short in my original post, as I have a tendency to over-explain my decisions, leading to very few replies. Having said that, here's some of the rationale behind it all; The list is an attempt to make a an army with as many solid threats as possible. Keeper, Plaguebearers...

But with such a fast moving army they're close to obsolete. I would definately drop them (plus other stuff) infavour of Fiends, who also move 20" mind you. And unless you play Skaven/Goblin hordes on a 48" by 48" board, MD manuverability is perfectly fine. I mentioned nothing about M...

Comrade Igor wrote:Why bring Furies if your fast cav move 20"?!

Shoulda thought of that before you did the conversions! :P

p.s. Fiends or death.

Because Furies can't be march blocked, have 360 degree line of sight, and are half the price of Mounted Daemonettes.

I'm back, with a new list.

It's been a while since I've cruised this corner of the web- I've been flat out recently. Anyways, finally found myself with a few spare moments, conveniently enough when the new Daemon book came out. Now, generally speaking, only Slaanesh has ever really appealed to me. I never liked Frenzy, Tzeent...

I had the same troubles, DA, when I first got the book. Slaanesh was always the only god that appealed to me. After a week or so the idea has grown on me. I'll throw my list up here sometime. EDIT: Oops, how rude- Igor's list is similar to the first list I created when I was looking at staying relat...

I've been using this configuration a lot lately. The small warrior units are great for teaming up with the Dark Riders to catch and control enemy units and set them up for the coup-de-grace with a Cold One Knight hammer unit. They don't have to survive. They just have to be in the right position at...

Kala- Lol, that was half of my rant though... half that I feel my list (and Dark Elves in general) have very few ways of dealing with the STank, and secondly, that I've been playing incredibly bad lately (At my longest losing streak so far of 4 ). I do like your idea of dropping the infantry blocks ...

The second army I posted was just an army I thought would be generally harder- not *just* against the Empire, but harder and more reliable in general. I'm looking at moving to something like it in the near future. The problem, Scareypete, comes in that a) I have far more deployments then the empire ...

Muppet Attack

Hey All, Well, I haven't really used my Dark Elves in about 2-3months, except for maybe 2 odd games. While my mate is painting my Slaanesh army, I decided to give my other friend a game against his Empire, which he is taking to DogCon, the largest fantasy tournament in Australia. In those 2-3months,...

Excellent- I expect a full write up.

I find it interesting how the GT turns out- it's almost akin to netdecking in Magic: the Gathering. Just seems to be very little diversity with the lists people run sometimes- i.e. KF, Thorek.

Teclis has the potential to be obscene, though.

Good luck :)

Ah- congratulations. What will you be taking to the GT-proper? Bretts again?

This is true, Ant. I haven't been keeping in touch with D.net lately- how did you (and the other regulars) go this year at the GT? One interesting thing to note, is that over here in Australia 95% of tournaments have a comp system. This goes some way in alleviating the Franz+2 Stank armies as they i...

Thank you very much, that is indeed the second thread I was looking for.

To anyone that hasn't read it, I encourage you to do so.

If I find the other one I'll let you know, it is a great read also.

EDIT: It is indeed on the same website:

My search-fu is weak

Hey all, I remember a while ago someone linked to a website which contained some great articles they wrote. One was on a japanese term which meant the different layers of knowing that your opponent knows what you're going to do and acting appropriately, while the other was about the difference in mi...

1. Brettonians. The problem lies in the fact that against a decent general, no matter what I do I will not hold against a charge, and will rarely actually get to charge. 2. Worst fear? Hmm... for some reason I always have the habit of overestimating my opponents troops. Although, this isn't such a b...

Woodies.

I'll likely never collect them, but they're the 'Big 3' army that most suits my playing style.

Second to that would be Lizardmen, probaby a Toad list.

This is just one of those torn topics. For fun or for victory. I'd like to think you can have both. But I have to agree with the article that there are those who will and do go to far. One example of this is a guy I know who plays WE. He's got a decent list and playes it pretty close to how it shou...

I think you guys missed the point of the article. The article IS relevant to Warhammer simply because there ARE differences in the power level of the armies. WAAC players know this, and thats why we see Thorek, Double Treeman and RAF lists. It's up to the community to either work out ways to beat th...
