Blondshade, if you want to read some fluff about really badass DE, I would highly recommend the Malus Darkblade novels. It's pretty much six novels of watching the guy take out armies by himself. Anyway, the reason that DE are portrayed as getting their asses kicked all the time is because the major...

As a whole, I like the article. The only comment, I had was concerning the wizarding hat. I am by no means advocating the use of this item, and I understand the reasoning behind your comments. However, I think that saying it's completely worthless, may be a bit too harsh. With 8th edition magic, the...

While we're in the spirit of Malus Darkblade, I might as well throw my favorite one in. Malus: Your timing could have been better, that thing nearly turned me into paste!" Hauclir: "An unforgivable breach of duty, my lord. Part of the wall fell on me and I selfishly tried to free myself in...

Welcome to druchii.net, Zanthorn Mist Walker! The list seems to be looking pretty good. I would, however, recommend a few tweaks: If you like the COB BSB, I would highly recommend switching out your death hag for her. Your current death hag can essentially be killed by rank and file soldiers, since they can direct all their supporting attacks i...

Put shields on the 16 RXBs, since you're going to need that if you win the roll off in hold the tower scenario. You can get these points from dropping the 2+ Ward item off the BG unit champion, since I honestly doubt people are going to be attacking a unit champion with a flaming sniper spell. What ...

Welcome to druchii.net Ezu!! That is a nasty list of comp restrictions. A Pegasus is a monstrous beast, not a monstrous creature, so it's only -17 to comp. The first thing I would do is to go and look at a typical list that gets fielded in events. -17 may not be so bad if everyone else is fielding a...

I'd pick the lv 2 and the master setup. Make the lv 2 a scholar(tome of furion, seal of ghrond) and put her in the crossbows, and you'll have a fairly good casting phase. I find that Metal and shadow are great lores against WOC. I would go with the executioners instead of WEs, since they will more l...

Ok, I just read this awesome fluff about Lord Nevarc, and I don't get to see him in the list?!?! lol My biggest worry about your list is that it lacks warmachine hunting with only that one unit of DR, so I would move some points around to add in harpies and /or shades. I'm not sure if the sorceress ...

I would keep crown of command, since that way you can use the guy as offensive support and as a wall. If you play in a more competitive gaming group that will not cry cheese, you may want to spend those extra points by switching out the tome with a power scroll and making the sorc lv 4. Do you play ...

I would have expected another comparison: Spartean "300" holding ground facing the Persian hordes. Very small frontage, when one Spartean falls, the next one steps in. Stubborn Conga lines just do that, the difference is that it is not the terrain which prevents hordes to overwhelm the sm...

We enslave the living They enslave the dead That and both being 'intelligently evil' You can always invent your own fluff for alliances but unfortunately for us we (and the skaven) have the stupidest ally rules in the 8th ed book. Big shame as it effectively stops you creating a viable Cult of Slaa...

Concerning the original topic, there are many tools that can be used to accomplish the same things your Hydra does. Vaul is often represented in fantasy and 40k fluff as the god of the smithies. Generally, we read stories about how he forged the ultimate sword or ultimate bow or something like that. As a result of this, I think it would be reasonable to conclude that priests of vaul were smiths who forged magic i...

Your issue is that you're trying to play on their terms. They want you to rush him with infantry so that he can kill 15 squishy elves per turn and then mop up with cavalry. We're not OnG or skaven; we don't have the numbers to do this. Maybe if you take mass warrior blocks, you MIGHT be able to get ...

I'd give the spearmen unit either banner of eternal flame or the warbanner instead of licheborne pennant.
