The problem with your argument is that there are plenty of instances in which two models with the same name end up with different equipment due to the unit that they're assigned to. For instance, a TK Tomb Guard assigned to guard a Casket has a great weapon. A Tomb Guard in a regular unit of Tomb Gu...

The errata specifically lists the crew as having poisoned attacks and frenzy. Noone can argue against you that they don't have it. Except that it does NOT say that they have frenzy. It merely indicates that if they're frenzied then they get an additional attack. It doesn't actually say that they st...

Have to disagree there. Just the fact that you *can* get over the 12 dice limit at any given time means that it needs to be FAQed. That doesn't necessarily indicate that GW thinks it's likely. Kind of like how using our special power dice rule (i.e. throwing more than 6 dice to cast 1 spell) is prob...

3. The new statement of Beastmaster rule for Hydra doesn't seem to over-ride the new BRB Monster and Handler rules. So our handlers are now immune to randomized wounds, but I think they already were per the BRB since the Monster is the only valid target now. The BRB has you direct all attacks again...

The problem is...

Re: Power Dice limitations?

Alright so I have a small problem with how this ruling is written in the new holy grail of Warhammer. It states that you can never have more than 12 PD or DD in the pool. I can't remember the exact phrasing and didn't get the book at the midnight release at our local store. Does this mean that you ...

Not entirely true. Point them at a dragon, and watch your opponent start sweating.

But against rank and file, yes that's correct.

I'm pretty sure CoB wasn't listed among examples for "unique" unit type. It's there describing Skaven war machine/monster/chariot/something weird hybrids that don't follow war machine rules even in 7th (Screaming Bells, Furnaces, Doomwheels etc.) I think you're talking about two different...

Yup. But I don't want people thinking that if they wipe out the entire rear rank of a unit that it will reduce the number of attacks back - because it won't.

Exactly - and thus the interesting changes that this might mean assuming that GW doesn't errata it.

Also, has anyone confirmed that ItP in 8th edition still prevents you from making any charge reaction except "Stand"?

[snip]... Stupidity making them Immune to Psychology (and thus the ever present Fear/Terror that most monsters cause) even when they pass their Stupidity test. Are you sure about this? Then it also means the knights cannot flee as a charge reaction... Stupidity definitely now makes a model always i...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I'd have remembered something that caused miscasts on doubles in the BRB. There were some other nasty anti-caster items, though, including one scroll that caused you to roll a die for every power die the caster used in their last spell and inflict a wound on every roll of ...

I see heavy cavalry in general having two primary roles. First, they're support for your rank and file units. You use the rank and file to provide the mass needed for a successful fight, and the heavy cavalry to inflict the casualties needed for a win. Hopefully between the two you'll cause enough c...

Don't panic, I have a solution . it's called a flank charge. the step up rule work's only in the front. BG will still be useful, but not as shock troops, rather they will be a support unit, to our beloved core infantry . There is no "Step Up" rule. The close combat rules merely neglect to...

I am also afraid I will dislike this "Fight until the melee is done" sort of rule. I like melees that get units "stuck in" and have new units come into play. Someone over at Warseer who tends to be right - I think it was Harry, though I don't recall off-hand - strongly implied t...

My biggest item of concern at the moment is in regards to the magic changes. We only have rumors to work with at the moment, but one of the army bonuses for Dark Elves is supposed to be the extra power dice that they get to use (we swapped it for our old +1 to the casting roll rule). One of the easi...

Add Skaven to the list of armies that have S7 attacks that you need to be wary of. I was using my Tomb Kings list against someone using the new Skaven army, and one of his Doomwheels popped a unit of three Chariots with S10 ranged attacks.

Remove Tyrion or Teclis, and there will be great mourning in Ulthuan but life will go on. Will have to disagree with you there, Tyrion and Teclis are really the only things that prevented ol' Mally from trouncing Ulthuan several times. Without Tyrion's brilliant leadership the HE forces wouldn't st...

Eltharion occupied the front of the 4th edition box-set, rulebook and the High Elf books for either 4th or 5th edition too (it's been a while, can't remember which one). Given that he had a long history with Grom and the general Elf-Goblin fued... he's not a small character. Regardless - he ain't M...

GW would need a lot more build-up for it. If someone important was going to get whacked over this summer, then I'd expect to have been hearing little indications of it for the last six months. You don't knock off a character that's a core part of the setting without providing lots of foreshadowing....

Actually, he's going to require quite a bit of work before he's useable as a living creature (man). That black roundish area on his chest is a gaping hole. And the chest area in general needs some work in order to make it look "normal".

I can't comment on the HPA, but I did see a game today that involved lizardmen against a Plague Furnace, a Screaming Bell, and a couple of Doomwheels. I only saw part of the game, but from what I saw the real problem with the new Skaven book is likely to be the Plague Furnace. With a unit of just un...

If you're in an ongoing melee, you're allowed to move characters within the unit during your own movement phase in order to move them into contact with enemy models - provided that the character being moved isn't already in contact with enemy models. It's in the character rules. Combat with an enemy...

if a bsb moves to a rear rank in order to fight some enemy that charged his unit in the flank/rear he loses the +1 CR for the bsb. That would be true only if: - the BSB, inside a unit with at least two ranks, is in contact with some foes in the front - some new foes charge the rear of the BSB unit,...
