Re: next end times book
Are these new models? Not very familiar with the HE range, but I don't recognize these. They are kitbashed from the High elf lord and mage plastic boxes, with a bit of BG/Executioners. (I think there might be some bitz from the HE dragon rider(s), white lions and dragon princes as well...) Yeah, th...

Re: WTF Alith Anar
As noted above, he is just a fairly soft lord level hero with a really big bow that shoots 36" like a S-7 bolt thrower. He has hatred versus DE and a DE unit suffers a -1 to their leadership to the end of the phase if they suffer a wound from the bow.

Re: My poofy high elves go to a tournament - 2400
Is this list for an upcoming event? If so what is the swedish comp target you are willing to go to? The list looks solid without any of the normal HE crutches that are normal seen. BoTWD, frost phoenix etc. A second eagle might help if you can find the points and it doesn't knock the comp score bad...

Right, another year and a variation on a theme. The new list which does away with the archers and replaces them with mounted and spears. Characters (632 points) Level 4 beasts - talisman of preservation, earthing rod & ring of fury Handmaiden, shield of Myewyn, relic sword & reaver bow BSB -...

Re: How would you rate the new HE army book?
I think that they are a really solid army. A bit of a learning curve to make everything work together and figure out what is the right selection for your playstyle. However, in the hands of an experienced general (and I know some will disagree with me), I think they are a top tier army. Until WoC s...

Re: How would you rate the new HE army book?
I was looking at some reviews and most of the changes seem reasonable except for the wards which are just plain nasty. Also I think that swordmasters are now far more balanced, i.e. they are slightly more resistant to shooting (with ward and buffs) but they have normal ASF which just makes sense. T...

Last time I checked, WHFB's is a GAME WE PLAY TO HAVE FUN. Going to tournements, at least for me, is a chance to meet and play against different people. I don't go just to take the big prize. If that happens, then it is a bonus. This comp system, from what I have read about it, is geared to stop th...

Re: medusa
If you really want to run a Medusa or two outside the Inspiring Presence bubble, I would recommend making good use of charge-blocking chaff (such as Harpies or fast cavalry), ensuring that the Medusa does not have line of sight to enemy units (and as such cannot declare a charge) at the start of yo...

who is better? I know every one is going to say they have different roles but if its one or the other in your army who do you bring? I played VS high elf's last night (1000) and I assumed that he was going to bring sword-masters because on paper they sound like the way to go but after talking to hi...

He has now switched to running them in units of 90.... Help please Wait, what? he is running a cube of 90 SM? Its not like it is good for anything, the best he is going to get is 50 S-5 attacks frontally and he will get that with 40 - 60 if he wants to allow for casualties. there is a build doing t...

Re: Winning the Deployment Phase
Lots of drops is a good thing, but not everything. Factoring the terrain into your plan is most important, and matching up your most appropriate units against his certainly helps. I used 10 man units of spears with great effect. they go down first as chaff, and then got used as screens for my witch ...

A really dumb question about dispeling
Reading though the rules for dispel value (pg 35) it says that a failed dispel attempt means that the caster cannot dispel again that phase, so either another caster must make the next attempt or it is made without a mage level modifier. Is that correct? I have never played it that way, but also on ...

Re: Witch Elves vs. Savage Orc Big 'Uns
So I came across this pod cast the other day: m and even though it was old, I was interested in what this guy had to say about Dark Elves regardless. He seemed to believe fairly strongly that witch elves were an average unit at best, and also thought that his Savage Orc Big 'Uns were a superior for...

it works, but it is very random, and you cant depend on it. Also against armies that have multiple ITP unit's, also fear causing units are common these days, and they render the tactic pretty much usless. I used to stick the wailing banner or mask of eee on CoKs for running down people's flanks. Fo...

Re: Usher of the Black Wind (1K vs HE, Skaven, VC)
OK, 1K of stylish but fun DE. CoKs are good. A unit of 5 with a muso is cheap and very flexible. Alternately you can run a larger unit of 9 with a character in it. Harpies are good, with most people making their own out of demonettes and the winds off tyranid gargoyles or these dark eldar guys with ...

I think i will go with beasts. I've has some success with amber spear and can see it working well versus monstrous cavalry and other critters.
Comp of 13.3 with beasts will keep me away from the harder lists initially.

Re: how do I beat the new high elves?
Outshooting HE is entirely possible - but not if he's playing the same game, then it's heavily influenced by who goes first. HE don't have any boosters to magic dice any more, so Dark/PoD/Sac dagger will work well versus them. Apart from miasma, shadow does nothing, so a change in lore is what is n...

Upon thinking about this, do the GW harpies even rank up nicely? No, but i could usually get them in by turning them sideways. Just having a couple bases flocked the same as the army to insert where they don't fit together is all I used initially. I eventually, because they are too top heavy, stuck...

Re: I want to start a small Nippon army 500 pt
While these books are interesting and you can play them with your friends, the more usual way of running nippon is using another book like HE or DE as the basis and then just running your units using stat lines from their books for your troops. WE glade guard = ashigaru archers eternal guard = yari ...

Hi Rabidnid, I saw your army at Ulthuan. I am curious about PG as on paper it looks like only SM are capable of dealing some proper damage. What are your experiences so far? Cheers! They just don't die. In there most recent games they have gutted a okkamed unit of of 12 CoKs with the ASF banner (th...
