Re: Warlocks use?
I would charge them into chaff/ other fast cavalry, archer units, war machines but definitely not anything that can fight. if in combat they can't cast doombolt but can still cast soulblight.

Revamping my Darkies
I don't have the new book yet but have so many ideas running in my head I feel the need to write them down. Am currently thinking of trying out a list along the lines of the following Dreadlord on Dragon- SDC, shield, lance, Armour of Destiny Master on Dark Pegasus- Mundane stuff, Cloak of Twilight ...

Re: Sorceress or Warlocks?
I would tend to agree, no sorceress lists are definitely viable now. 2 warlock units practically give you 2 level 2 sorceress which auto get awesome spells, don't care about miscasts, have an inbuilt 4 plus ward, good combat attacks for roughly the same points. For people that can't live without a c...

Re: Army Review with Ratings
With regards to warlocks, why bother even taking a sorceress perhaps? Soulblight and doombolt are both great spells which you could happily cast each turn. Particularly Soulblight to drop Toughness and then let loose with every ranged attack we have can easily decimate enemy deathstar units. Defence...

Re: Hordes ??? where to go from here ?
If you have lots of terrain shades may be your friend. Also flying heroes and monsters. With more terrain they can hide better and with smaller bases can move around it. As has been pointed out though remember that terrain doesn't actually do much to infantry. You can simply move straight through a ...

Re: The Cauldron: What does it really bring?
If it has to go in the middle I would also be rather concerned about my unit getting flanked. This is particularly an issue when they have frenzy. Re rolls to wound is good for witch elves but extra attack is good for Executioners. It isn't that the cauldron has less attacks it is that it has the sa...

Re: Army Review with Ratings
My ratings from pure theory at the moment would be Warriors- 2/5 They aren't going to kill anything and are now more expensive to boot Crossbows-3/5 Always seem to be hitting on 6's and don't do much damage, this hasn't changed Corsairs-3.5/5 I like them better than crossbows, they can go on the att...

Re: New Book - units and characters that will never be used
Am surprised this hasn't been mentioned but i can't see cold one knights being used much. Very expensive and unreliable. I would rather just have almost 3 times as many executioners .

Could you perhaps put the cob in a cold one knight unit. It would slow it down a bit but the buffs would be awesome.

Re: The biggest question now: Which Lore?
I'd really like to try beasts. Transformation of Kadon is a spell I have wanted to try since 8th edition began and never have had the opportunity. Savage Beast of Horrors could be interesting as well with a group of Death hags. I quite liked Life when using High Elves with the silver wand so you got...

Re: Death of the Corsairs
Am thinking of taking a unit of ten with handbows and putting them on the flank to remove small enemy flanking units. They can handle themselves fairly well against skirmishers or fast cavalry, albeit not quite as maneuverable. Stll 10 S3 stand and shoot and then 10 ASF attacks and can re rolls 1's ...

Re: on request, pics of new release
I don't understand people's concern over the models being monopose. To my mind while your units are marching forward they should all just look rather disciplined and neat for units like black guard and warriors. They wouldn't be waving their weapons around in silly ways. Not to mention this makes th...

Re: New DE armybook RULES RUMOURS
We can't really complain about losing magic items every 8th edition book has had a massive reduction in items particularly useful ones.
In many ways we do still have the buffs with the cauldron, it lets you re roll to wound and gain an extra attack. Plus you can now use it offensively .

Re: The new executioner horde.
From what I can see the Cauldron is rather wasted on the executioners. Gives them re rolls to wound but they get re roll 1's to wound without it and at S6 they usually would wound on 2's anyway. Which is unfortunate as a Khainite army should have both units. I think alone a block of 30 Executioners ...

Re: Preliminary Magic Item Reviews
Aside from Cloak of Twilight I think I will be sticking to the core magic items book. The problem is not so much that these ones are bad but they are expensive meaning you can only take 1 of them. A good character needs offensive and defensive items Pity tome of furion must be for dark magic. I had ...

Re: The value of Murderous Prowess
Some cool stats there.
I can see Murderous Prowess being nice for most of our units. Although it seems a bit silly if the cauldron of blood gives re rolls to wound and we have re rolls 1 to wound already. Particularly for a unit like executioners

Re: Are Black Guard viable any more?
I would also say Black guard are competing against Witch Elves.
Witch Elves have 1 less strength but an extra attack and poison and are heaps cheaper and core.
Witch is unfortunate as the new models look cool.

If that is the case the cob displaces 9 witches thus 15 less attacks and then gives you a mighty 7 s3 attacks. It will need a lot more cool stuff to be worth 300 odd points. :-)

Re: Where did everyone go?
I have been off playing Orcs and Vampires since 8th edition but now may be making a return to my beloved Darkies when hopefully some of the units I own might come popular again and the must have units I don't have might no longer be necessary to be competitive.

Just thinking if the CoB gives an extra attack to the unit it is in, is this not going to be compromised by the fact the massive base will remove a stack of attacks in the first place?

I really like the new witches, wish they weren't so expensive though. Other companies have female warriors for half that price, Still may pick up some anyway. I like the new cauldron of blood much better. it looks like it can move again, although not sure how keen the witch elves will be in pushing ...

Re: Returning to the druchii
Well I ended up changing the list a bit from this, looking back. I ended up going with Hellebron and a Master with the Hydra Banner but similar troop choices. I was fairly happy overall, I won 2 games, a draw and 3 losses if I remember correctly. Hellebron is pretty awesome but the Cold One Knights ...
