Re: Converting Dark Eldar Models for Fantasy

Hi, Well I have seen this done quite successfully in the past. Most dark eldar models, guns and pistols aside, have very very little "techy" stuff going on on them. I myself use some of their plastic helmets and bare heads on some cold one knights for variety, and for some command figures ...

Hey, very cool idea. The only thing i REALLY do not like is octopusish sorceresses... I'm currently working on (non octopus!) dark elves worshipping the great old one (and playing like WoC, therefore the different basing). I'm mainly using corsairs and dark eldar bits, and they're coming around very...

Could you possibly elaborate on why Vampires die so easily? They can get great protection, if a player wants it, but normally I see Vampires buried in a unit behind the main lines, positioned in such a way that it's physically impossible to charge the Vamp Count's unit early in the game. Most VC pl...

Hello, well VC have simply gone extinct round here, for the simple reason killing their generl is rather easy, and it basically shatters the whole army. If it happens early on (as it usually does) an opponent will usually concede. That wamp is almost naked, every decent combat character should have ...

Anything, actually. The perception of the protective value of the pendant, indeed, is often highly exagerated. It's a nice piece of kit, but that's it. If you have it on a sorceress/sorceror (since, apparently, WAR reworked them back into the background full tilt), and therefore without armour save,...

What the others have said, plus, actually, you could put one together fairly easily using plastic pieces, mainly dark eldar/elf bits on plasit high elf mage pieces/tunic.
Cheers!

I like the DE sorceress myself, sculpt and pose are rather good.
The mantic sorceress is rather good looking too, but i think it is...a tad too much not so generic. I am not familiar with other mantic stuff, but i think both GW and the WAR developers might very well sue them...oh, their problems :)

Hello all, had a second look to the black dragon, and i confirm i do like it. Even the two riders look fair enough, with the dreadlord closely resembling the bada$$ we see on our army book cover. Cockatrice is kind of half decent, though it could have been much better. Manticore is, imho, a no-no. A...

Yup, i dont like the manticore (bad sculpt) and can barely tolerate the cockatrice (just a tad better). I dont mind the DE dragon, though, nor his rider. The foot sorcerers are all pretty convincing (including the DE sorceress, actually), even if the tzeentchy sorceror looks far more like a demonic ...

Hello, well i think the two ranges mix pretty well. Heads, in particular, and even helmets (if you take care to remove the "lenses" from the dark eldar ones, maybe adding a cok crest) work extremely well. Also arms and weapond do mix, and the best "chaos lords" i have seen in a w...

True: basically all of the SoC lists are non-usable as of now, and have been so from late 6th edition onwards. Their fluff, however, has inspired loads of 8th edition armies: slayer heavy dwarves, sea guard he and all orc hordes. Recently i met, on the field of battle, what probably is the best look...

Very well done harpy.
A common trend, mixing deamonettes from various stages of Citadel history with all sorts of wings. Usually, like in this case, the result is better than GW ones.

Would probably benefit form a more naturalistic paint job than GW one(that, however, i still like as a model). Do you know if size is compatible?

I think you should give your general, at very least, the 4 plus ward save talisman, flayed hauberk, all mundane armour he can take and some protection vs magic would be good. The power that adds 1 to CR is also a must. Such build cant take dedicated combat heroes from other lists, but he can survive...

Well, nice attempt.
I'd play against him at that points value, no problem.
I myself would, however, prefer a more combat oriented model (like the old SOC anointed, now THAT was WAY better than any dreadlord, PoK or not!).
Any daemons in your slaaneshi warband rules?

Its interesting how, when you post about modelling ( non gw models proportions) you get a supposedly biting answer about other issues. Oh well, no probl. Paper banners dont hurt too, i think. The monochrome motif also binds the army together. If you opponent does not have trobule with count as model...

Hello, well i think modern human society far overstimates sexuality and its impact on the individual. This is probably a precise design, and in all likelyhood it helps corrupt governants control their people, or so they think.
