Just my opinion (I know what the rules state), but I can't seem to understand why a pegasus knight (as in the example above this post) would ever be immune to killing blow. I understand the model is classified as "monstrous cavalry" but the rider himself (which is who you attack in combat;...

Or you could just drop the dispel scroll since you can't have it and the tome on the same character.

(By the way I didn’t mean to criticize your post, if it did seem like that it’s because of my bad English.) I only did the calculation because it was much more fun than reading electrodynamics... Oh, no offense/criticism taken; I understood what you meant I can't help myself either when it comes to...

my numbers came off of running simulations so of course they weren't going to be exact, but they are close enough to get the point across :)

I don't have the actual math on hand (I'm using a program here), but running a simulation compiling an average of millions (10 million to be exact) of 3d6 rolls take the 2 highest, I get about 8.46. The most likely whole number (since you can only roll whole numbers) is 9. Odds of rolling: 2 = 0.468...

Even the over-costed TK can't compete with that. Settra weighs in at 625, but he comes with a scythed chariot. Not sure about other armies.

Enchanted shield isn't a necessity but granted I have the 5pts to spare I give him that. You are still supposed to use the army book price for the enchanted shield. And since that is the case, just use a regular shield and the dragonhelm. Gives the same AS boost with an extra 2+ ward against fire f...

I could possibly see Kouran used. When you look at the cost of a regular BG champ with crimson death, that almost equals Kourans cost. For the remaining 23 points, you get unbreakable and that special armour that makes any enemy take a toughness test in order to direct attacks to him. You could almo...

You can use the cold one's toughness for characteristic tests (pg 10 of BRB), but you use the rider's toughness when determining whether the model is wounded just as you would for infantry and such.

I guess I could understand the rider's benefiting from the general, but it's hard to think the mounts would realize the general's presence.

IMO, it seems against the spirit of the spell to use the general's leadership. Though certainly by the wording of the inspiring presence rule, it seems you can.

I would use each models own leadership value, but cannot argue against using the general's leadership with the way the rules are written.

Honestly, I would take neither and use all archers; which is what I do. The new shooting rules along with the TK archer rules (and extra shooting due to magic) make it way too irresistable to do otherwise. As for taking spears over hand weapons....1 more point to add just a few extra super-weak atta...

I don't think that the Priest's Ward Save applies to guardians You take the highest armour and ward save available with war machines now, so yes the 4+ ward applies for the whole model. (at least that's what it says in the FAQ for the casket) Well, the price of the casket is the same as a priest pl...

This is a gear option for lord level Priests (does anyone know which is their english name? XD) and Priests. high priests are lords, priests are heros.....you'll also see abbreviations like LHP (liche high priest) or LP (liche priest). Another note on the casket which I don't recall seeing.....the ...

Also, I would use a regular shield/ dragonhelm combo. You still pay the army book price on the enchanted shield so the combo I sugges...

That is correct. That is one ability of the icon bearer. But IIRC, all those crumbling tests are actually leadership tests which of course can be re-rolled if near the BSB; that's what I was referring to.

One cunning ploy my TK opponent has used before is to make the general a different model to the hierophant (I assume that's legal, but never bothered to check) Not only is that legal, it is a requirement....so not that cunning TK are required to have 2 characters, a hierophant (either a priest or h...

Yes, being stupid also means ITP. It's just like frenzy as stated above. While being subject to frenzy, you are also ITP. When you read a war machine's crew rules, you see "aren't really a combat unit, per se, we ignore them for most gaming purposes, treating the war machine as the extent of the unit." Sounds familiar right? But you still use the crew's leadership; the machine doesn't even have a leadership v...

So how does pit work. Or purple sun. Hydra is the extent of the unit and the beastmasters are ignored, so you go at I2 right? The beastmasters are just wound markers you say. IIRC, vortex spells can be aimed anywhere; it should be in the "spell type" rules in the magic section of the rulebook. It doesn't matter whether a unit is in combat or not. Though, your units could also fall under the sun too.
