Re: OOOOHHHH, YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to prove how totally not-over-ET-betrayal-yet-or-likely-ever, I thought I'd chime in. Was enjoying it (bar the issues raised by Shadowspite re shades) until the tagline at the end. "Defend your world. Destroy theirs." Can't read that without screaming at GW over and over and over, unt...

Re: Project: the future pan-elven website

Hey all - hope you're all well and having a bright enough week! I thought I'd quickly say "hi" and note the unique nature of interaction on D.net. My short story echoed TD's above. AOS was big for me. I kind of worked through the whole DABDA framework where the final A was just a much pure...

Re: Describe Warhammer Fantasy Battle in 10 Models

Awesome thread in present circumstances - here's mine. Apologies for the mad variation in image size! 1) The original mounted Jade Wizard. GW have made some mis-steps in rules tweaks along the way (...), but the move from the big orange rulebook magic to the card based Battle Magic was one I thoroug...

Re: Un-Welcome to the Age of Sigmar

@Barking Agatha - thanks for the response! Just a couple of follow ups where I might not have expressed myself personally; RE#1 - The min-maxing point is fair, though I did enough that aspect too. It would often be fixed within local meta and if one is a fluff player, it tends to be less of an issue...

Re: Un-Welcome to the Age of Sigmar

It's probably all been said in other threads, but for the sake of personal closure I wanted to make a public statement somewhere. I've tried AOS just for the sake of openmindedness and that'll be my first and last game of it. It is a sham at best. Seeing the issues with rules and balance have alread...

(Watching the video and listening to K-Pop are not mutually exclusive activities, of course. Though it could combine so much awesome we end up in a "don't cross the beams" kind of an overload scenario).

Hey all - quick post as a sign of life... Work is brutal, photo project devouring spare time, but mostly this wretched 9th stuff keeping me in limbo! I won't go off on a rant until it's properly out, but not my cup of tea. My circle just playing 8th with what we have. GW just pulling in a different ...

Re: Shades - sizes and loadout?

At the start of the year I was using them with light armour, but now take AHW. I viewed them as missile only, but they end up in combat most of the time. I'm playing non-ASF opponents and the extra attack on that basis is great vs. non elite opponents. I go with 2x 6 as they're a big piece of my flu...

...option to combine elven armies. I suspect Elves will exist as only one faction, given the various rumours and ET trajectory. If they're looking to reduce total number of armies, than a few options within Elves is easier to maintain than all three distinct armies. I'm guessing that something broa...

Re: Calling all Warhammer Fans!

A quick reply here, which I'll come back to edit as more things strike me! Awesome project! Generally the notes about flying above make sense. The biggest piece of flying that seems wrong is the idea that they have to land at the end of movement - it just feels silly, and an obvious shortcut so the ...

damn its gotta be hot as hell in that thing I thought that too, but I wonder - the light is damn hard, but it's coming from a low winter angle (see shadow length:intensity of light ratio) and there are no leaves in the trees/hedges. I came to the conclusion it's just a stark, hard winter sun, and t...

Re: End Times Archaon

At first (well from ET - Khaine) I was monitoring my reaction to the whole ET arc in terms of the DABDA framework - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCbler-Ross_model I genuinely hovered in the "acceptance" stage for a few weeks in Khaine, having broadly rebuilt some personal fluff I ...

Re: Are you a Purist or does anything go!

When I get even a second of my life back and have a moment to paint, I hope to back up my "anything goes" vote with some more progress on my PLOG. I admit to disliking willful changes in this regard (i.e. models that an opponent constantly re-proxies between games - e.g. if someone had som...

Re: Portrayal of women in fantasy

At the risk of taking this off title topic, and borderline threadomancy, the experiment noted above has paid off - his book's are excellent, and a strong cast of better rounded than usual female characters is very much present by the end of "The Name of the Wind". I'm onto the second in th...

Quick follow up, veering slightly OT - I have grabbed his "The Name of the Wind". Saw me through a transatlantic flight a 2 hr queue for a taxi in snow-ravaged DC. He writes well. Like it. Only a couple of female characters so far, though the main one encountered is nicely rounded out and ...
