Re: Next ET books

I must admit in principle I do not mind the concept of formations as a way of recreating historic armies, providing an alternative way to theme an army as well as different options when scaling up a force to massive games (it should be noted that it was in apocalypse where these were first seen for ...

Don't you still require a minimum of 3+core units in an army, or am i having edition confusion?

Re: Beyond the End Times - What is next.....

I cannot see them merging the two games or make compatible ala hordes/warmachine. This would add very little to 40k and i cannot see really any fantasy units surviving some sort of cross over. What is more 40k has become increasingly less compatible with warhammer since third edition 40k hit and con...

Re: Beyond the End Times - What is next.....

I agree with your points there so much there Amboadine, and have seen so many changes in the past. Till now i have moved on any enjoyed the new stuff from each version, but i too really do not like this idea of bubbles and what worries me most about this is the scale of the retrenchment is something...

Re: BSB Master?

For a long time I was very much committed to a BSB on cold one. This is impart at hang over from the previous army book where the hydra banner and nearby cauldron could make the unit truly lethal. I have kept this up recently as a hero here is very useful in improving the punch of the unit and the r...

Re: Morathi, mistress of Slaanesh

Morathi is certainly an interesting character. What exactly she is about is something that has been obscured by successive editions of the game portraying her motives quite differently. In particular i belive there is a major contrast between the older depiction where she was very much the secret wo...

Re: Morathi base size

Thanks for that Calisson It may well be I switch to 50mm. If that is what is usually used then that is a good enough reason for me in itself (i dont want to get in trouble for using her on a smaller base). i must admit i never thought about the relative advantages to this and appreciate your discuss...

the rebirth of Ereth Khial

Reading Khaine we get the information that the high elf princess Eldyra (i think thats the spelling) has become Ereth Khial (the elven goddess of the underworld) and has reconstructed her realm using the many souls of dead Elves that Slaanesh was unable to devour. While this may be an interesting ti...

Re: Race compression and the end of times for Druchii.net?

I would personnaly rather that they finish the end times in its entirity prior to release of a new edition as i think that would allow it to be more consistent in terms of rules as well as give a clear starting point to take the story onwards from.

Malekith Risk tactics

Is it just me or does Malekiths strategy of abandoning Naggaroth look alot like someone gambling yo get back into a game of risk. Attack valkyra to build up some cards, cash them in and chuck everything into getting control of a continent. Doesn't matter if the territories you left behind god as lon...

Re: Race compression and the end of times for Druchii.net?

I think so much depends on what this new all elf book may or may not be like. It is possible that the book may contain several differnt lists to represent eact of the three elven races in addition as the host of the eternal king list, or a set up like the current space marine codex which allows sign...

Warlocks and End times magic

Thought I would initiate bit of a deeper discussion of use of Doomfire Warlocks in light of the send times magic phase as well as part of a elven Host list with much greater competition for rare points. We know that warlocks know all death and all dark, and end times magic the bonuses +1 to cast fro...

Re: What's left in Naggaroth? (seeking spoilers)

Untill i read Khaine i was sure by some contrivance of chaos that there would have been a way back for Malus, of all dark elves he has some incredbile tenacity, but was shocked to see how final the description of his demise was. This said Im still looking forward to reading the Malus book which is s...

Re: What's left in Naggaroth? (seeking spoilers)

Well having now finally read the rest (thank you for the strange soft back edition!) I can see the route for the future a bit clearer. It was a shame to see the demise of Malus, but was really good how this fitted into his story line as written in his books, and i assume there are a fair few adventu...

Re: GW is going to retcon everything! (Spoilers)

Back before the end times I heard rumours to this effect End times to 'conclude'/send off in style the story of the warhammer world in style, then new edition with full reset of the setting with many new rules and ways of playing (units being able to adopt different formations that allow them to dif...

Re: What's left in Naggaroth? (seeking spoilers)

Now what i am more interested in is the Black Arks. These are what most of the cities in Naggaroth were built from in the first place, as was Anlec most times it got re built. For me it is the Black arks which are the real heart of what Naggaroth was and how the druchii survived similar catastrophic...

Re: Best typical frontage for a unit with the Cauldron of Bl

For starters I have only ever used the cauldron in a large (35)unit of witch elves. When fielded on their own as a large block the witch elves are usually deployed 7 or 8 wide for the reasons you said, you want to hit hard, but not give too much away as well as combat res and be able to step up loss...

Re: Why is End of Times: Khaine kind of lousy

I think i am slowly cominga around to some of the big changes that happen in Khaine. Ulthuan being no more I something that parallels Atlantis and probably fits quite well with the elves as a species. the loss of Naggaroth is a shame but again this fits as the dark elves never saw this as home and i...

storm of magic in the end times

Hi all I have only experienced using the end times magic once and i must admit i found it very clunky for the reasons others have discussed. The extra dice rolls for the max ammount of power dice and dispell dice in particular I found a large pain and the spamming of lesser spells soon became old ve...

Its an incredibly awesome model. Very much better than the old (and no longer available) great fire dragon by FW and I would be tempted to get the model but for the price! So much for the hobbit being the more afordable of GWs games!

Re: Tyrian v Malekith 2200

I appologise that this is not really list critiquing but... Wow that looks such a small force! Unfortunately when it comes to both the Aestyrion and the Pheonix King lists so much of the character of the army seems to come from the (very expensive) special characters. If your opponent is planning to...
