Re: Slaanesh

All i know is Slaanesh better come back in all its titular glory!! Slaanesh never really went away IMO - and I know there are those who believe otherwise, but they are of course totally wrong Seriously though, I thought the whole point of AoS was that players could field whatever they wanted, regar...

Re: Wait so what happened

As much as I dislike everything related to AoS and End Times, reading this still brings a warm feeling. Nah, this was an abomination. Even before the formal "reboot", to rip apart their own lore like that showed colossal disrespect to the fan-base and spoke to GW's "we don't give a f...

The old Warhammer world is alive and well thank you very much - Nothing of GW's end times heresy is being recognised here

Re: Quick 'n' Dirty Chain Sculpting Tutorial

If you're only looking for chain bits to add to models rather than sculpting them from scratch, then if you live in the UK, take a trip to Poundland and check out their delightfully cheap-n-nasty jewellery section - I picked up a necklace in there which had almost a metre of suitable fine, real meta...

Re: The Art of Total War: Warhammer II

Are these actual renders from the game, or from some pre-production artwork?

If the actual in-game models are anything like this, I can't wait for someone to develop a tool to extract them so that they can be loaded into a 3D rendering program - just think of the cool art you could create that way! :)

Still playing 6th edition here. AoS is not a thing for me. I like a few of the minis and a few other bits but overall, I don't regognise what GW have done.

Re: Cultist Terrain in Västerås

This is absolutely amazing! It's so difficult to pick out any piece to be a favourite but if I had to, I guess I would vote for that wonderful tower with the spiral staircase around it - I tried making something like this myself earlier this year and frankly mine looks like crap compared to this. Fa...

Some nice work there. Very interesting project. I guess I need a few flayed bodies for my Slaaneshi army - a full-body flaying would make a wonderrful banner of Slaanesh

Re: Sorry Aos You have lost me now - Steam Punk Dwarfs WTF

I still can't understand why, if GW wanted a simpler skirmish type game rather than a huge piched battle system, that they couldn't have used the old Warhammer Skirmish rules, as they worked just fine for the most part... And a proper points system is essential - the early draft of AoS proved that n...

Re: Sorry Aos You have lost me now - Steam Punk Dwarfs WTF

Besides, 40K is a fantasy setting. It has gods and magic and elves and daemons. The Imperium is ruled by an ancient liche on a magic golden chair. The technobabble in 40K doesn't try to make sense even to the degree of settings like Star Trek. So moving closer to 40K is not moving away from fantasy...

Re: Topic of the Week - Boxed games

Man o War was pretty good back in the day. When Dreadfleet came along I was thinking maybe it would be a similar sort of thing but in fact turned out to be quite a bit different and ultimately not as much fun, despite some truly beautiful miniatures. The worst thing (IMO) about the specialist games ...

Re: Sorry Aos You have lost me now - Steam Punk Dwarfs WTF

IIRC, they are not filled with any real-world lighter-than-air gas, but a magical substance that provides buoyancy regardless of the normal rules of physics, as befits AoS's generally high-magic setting. So the size of their metal balls doesn't really matter . And neither does the fact that they ar...

Re: Sorry Aos You have lost me now - Steam Punk Dwarfs WTF

These Kharadron guys are definitely Squats - the next generation. I like the steampunk thing but I don't think it really fits in with AoS - it's moe like 40K I think. On the other hand, r=there was a fair bit of steampunk stuff in WFB too - Empire, Dwarfs and Skaven all had stuff that fits the steam...

My own project was building a VC army out of other races left over units, give 'm some headswaps and ghoulish paintjob and bob's your uncle So what I got so far: Dire wolfs; Old chaos hounds, and if need be (o&G)wolfs. LOTR Wargs make really great dire wolves - just paint them black, give them ...

Re: Cameras and the joy of getting better pictures

Though I use Photoshop 6 a lot for basic image editing (because I run Linux and Photoshop 6 works flawlessly under Wine in Linux), I feel that if the picture needs a lot of fiddling with, then it wasn't right in the first place. Good lighting coupled with good technique is FAR more important than ha...

However the language guide of yours is excellent Thanks. I am slowly working on an updated version, but it is a lot harder to maintain enthusiasm for it since the whole setting got blown up. Well I have PDFs of pretty much all the books (more than I have time to read if I'm honest), but nothing matches the feeling of holding a real book in your hands. It's all so much more tangiable than flipping through a digital file. Both have their pros and cons - digital is cheaper (or free if you ...

Well I like inventing new armies, as many of you already know. So far I have written lists for Drow, Illithids and Lovecraftian Deep Ones, all compatible with Warhammer Fantasy 6th Edition (though undoubtedly could be tweaked for just about any system). I haven't really started a new one this year b...
