I haven't played Halo 2 singleplayer, but I have played some multiplayer battles on a friends' XBox. It's fun, the new destroyable vehicles are cool, the new weapons are fun (I love going Ninja with the energy blade), and some of the maps are very well done. However, IMO Half Life 2 is by far the gr...

I agree totally. HL2 is a stunning, brilliant game that does everything right. I actually had shivers... shivers ...running down my back during one of the scripted dialogue sequences between Alyx and her father. Their movements, facial expressions, and eye movements were so lifelike I had to remind ...

I agree it is kinda a stupid rule, but it does make some sense. The Ld test to shoot the closest target rule is supposed to represent the squad loosing it's cool and shooting the nearest thing. I can see a normal squad breaking under the pressure of battle and shooting a nearby tank, even if they kn...

The last mission lets it down for me. I managed to isolate the mission's lone objective and point termies, lascannons and plasma guns on it. Yes, the last mission was a big dissapointment....waaay too easy, and unless you help out the Eldar, they will get annihilated. Plus no movie at the end (like...

Doom 3 is very good at what it does: graphics and scaring the shizzle out of you. It's hard to think of a game with better mood and atmosphere. However, for those looking for more than just shooting things and endless switching from flashlight to your gun, Doom 3 will dissapoint. There are virtually...

I bought DOW and I enjoy the game very much. Let me be the first to say that I'm not a big RTS fan...my prefered genres are shooters and stealthy games. DOW is a great mix of strategy and action, but the hardcore RTS people will probably be dissapointed. I think Relic has done a great job in conveyi...

Yes, I second the Chillwind tactic. All you need is one measly wound (easy with T2 no armor skinks) and the beast can't spit at you the next turn.

Marines will always be the n00b army, cause they are the hallmark of the 40K universe. They are central to the fluff and background, and they are easy to play and win with. Not to say that they are ONLY a n00b army, I'm sure there are lots of experienced SM commanders out there. On the topic of mari...

There are no 'real' good guys in 40K...most fight for their warped beliefs or for mere survival. Even my beloved Grey Knights, who would wipe out an innocent planet to prevent daemonic corruption without a second thought, aren't really that good. What it all comes down to is perspective: nobody thin...

no the whole point is to feed GW with more money. Heyy lets change the rules so drastically that people not only should change there armies, but in most cases HAVE to change them. I disagree with this. I'm not making any changes to any of my armies (I have 3; Orks, Night Lords and Daemonhunters). I...

He's a monstrous creature, so that was always going to be the case. No, in the 3rd edition rules, there was no generic rule saying that monstrous creatures could be shot at even within 6" of another unit (only Tyranid monstrous creatures). The Avatar rules says it's an independant character, so it ...

40K Army Updates for 4th ed.

Hi all, in case you haven't seen them yet, GW has posted a FAQ for each army on how the 4th edition rules affect your army. http://uk.games-workshop.com/40kuniverse/warhammer40k/army-updates/army-updates.htm Not a whole lot of changes, but a few major ones, such as the Eldar Avatar can now be shot a...

Makes sense that how far you get away is proportional to the I value. But that would weaken things like Orcs and Goblins, who are relatively easy to break and have a low I (Dwarfs too but they are harder to break).

Yeah, the Venom Sword is a good choice against Beast armies, with their plentiful multi-wound units. I wouldn't use it on a Highborn, though, only an Annointed.

I'm voting Slaanesh because frankly, Tzeentch magic doesn't really impress me. Sure it CAN be nasty but the offensive spells are very random, and your are likely to have a poor outing when you REALLY need a destructive spell. Plus the daemons are generally weak in close combat.

Well put Loki. But I think most of the naysayers are simply upset that they can't use the same tactics as before. Like when the TVR came out, the powergaming Space Wolf players at my local club ranted and raved to no end about how their army was now useless and they absolutely refused to play with T...

I for one am greatly looking forward to the new rules. I think you are overreacting a bit....sure every army has to adjust a bit, but I don't think any army was screwed. Your Nid rant may be valid, but keep in mind the Nids are getting a new codex after the marines, in all likelihood. Also each army...

ANd it is the rumor of the fifth race: IG Apparantly the IG have a brief cameo role in the single player game, so it would be very likely that they would be included if Relic does decide to add new races. As for including all races, it would be a nightmare for the game designers, trying to balance ...
